‘Combo Crew’ Adds Four Playable ‘Street Fighter II’ Characters, Goes Free to Celebrate

TouchArcade Rating:

Well I thought it was both surprising and awesome when Viewtiful Joe and Lester Knight were added as playable characters in the Game Bakers’ fantastic touchscreen brawler Combo Crew (Free), but today’s update really takes the cake. Four new fighters have risen to the occasion and again the Game Bakers have partnered up with Capcom to bring them into Combo Crew. Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Blanka from Street Fighter II all make their Combo Crew debut in this latest update. Like Viewtiful Joe, each of these new characters will cost 99¢ to download and unlock before you can play with them. Or, if you prefer, you could buy the “Capcom Crew" IAP for $3.99 which unlocks all four new characters and Viewtiful Joe, plus will include any future new characters for free.

Besides all these new playable characters, Combo Crew made a dramatic change to the core gameplay in this update by allowing counters to be performed at any time, so you don’t have to be stuck waiting for an attack to play out if you decide you’d rather cancel and counter in the middle. The enemies have also been given new attack behaviors to keep the combat freshened up, and of course there’s a bunch of smaller tweaks and bug fixes to make Combo Crew an overall better game. It really has come a long way since its initial release back in May, and we even loved the heck out of it back then. If you’re a Combo Crew fan as well, be sure to grab the latest update and check out these exciting new Street Fighter II characters in the game. If you haven’t played before, definitely give it a download while free, as it’s one of the finest brawlers ever to grace a touchscreen.
