GDC (and PAX) are quickly approaching, and the whole GDC attendee app icon sticker trading thing seems to be reaching critical mass- The glorious result of what happens when you combine adults with the ability to get custom stickers quickly/easily/cheaply made is being seems to be the creation of hundreds of custom stickers for all sorts of crazy things ranging from game icons to actual die-cut stickers of characters from The Blockheads (Free). Anyway, today is the last day for the coupon code we secured, so if you were thinking about getting some stickers made, here’s how to save some cash:
- Click here to sign up, if it’s your first time ordering you’ll get $10 credit.
- Whip up some art for your stickers that’s 300dpi or greater. The 2" x 2" rounded corner stickers are perfect for app icons, and you can basically just send them your existing retina icon assets.
- Use coupon code TOUCHARCADE to get 50% off an order of 50 stickers, or $25 off larger orders.
- Wait for them to ship, and trade stickers like a boss at GDC. Bonus points for stacking them into a sticker pyramid and tweeting a photo.
The dudes at We Heart Games are maintaining a checklist of all the stickers people have had made so far, so if you want to catch ’em all, that’s a good place to start. Also, I’m just going to float this idea out there- With this many people getting 2" x 2" app icon stickers made, what about getting some sticker sheets made of an appropriately sized app icon tag (like the Zynga dog or OpenFeint leaf) to stick over someone else’s sticker. Twitter seems to think this is a good idea.
One last tip: Most hotels will receive packages for you if you give them a heads up. If you don’t feel like carting your sticker haul in your suitcase or don’t want to get expensive shipping to make it there in time just give your hotel a call and figure out how to get your stickers sent to them direct.
