Earlier this morning, Eli and I spent some time with Ravenous Games’ Beatdown ($2.99). It’s a 2D brawler, similar to brawlers of old. In the game, you’re tasked with punching everything that gets in your way as you wander through environments loaded with dudes who also like to punch everything that gets in their way. You have two attacks: a punch and jump kick. You can also pick up weapons in the environment and hit people with them, too, if you’re feeling sassy.

You can knock this one for its old-school nature. The scenario design, combat mechanics, and the enemy design aren’t all that interesting in a modern context. But, Beatdown will definitely stroke some pleasure centers with it’s simplistic action, and it might even bring back some good memories in the process.
