When we posted our review for Fieldrunners 2 ($2.99), commenters were up in arms about iPad support. The bad news is it doesn’t sound like the HD version is going to be universal, but the good news is that it’s going to have a nice amount of extra content, making owning both versions potentially worthwhile.
Five new towers are included in the HD release: The cannonball tower shoots out balls that roll around the battlefield. The zap tower has a chain lightning-like effect. The sonic tower uses sound waves to damage nearby enemies. The slow link tower works like the link tower but with a slowing effect. Finally, the machine gun tower sounds like it’s a souped up version of the gatling tower.
From the looks of it, more iPad-exclusive content is included as well, although details are vague at the moment. As soon as we get our hands on the game, we’ll post more. Either way, expect it to appear on international App Stores tomorrow before slowly filtering its way out to the US App Store at 11:00 PM Eastern.
