Possible ‘The World Ends With You’ Sequel Teased in iOS Version’s Ending

If you follow Internet anger trends, you’ll remember the ire that was drawn when Square Enix set up a countdown clock on The World Ends With You’s website that seemed to be counting down to some sort of big reveal.

And it did. When the countdown finally expired a little over a week ago and announced The World Ends With You: Solo Remix ($17.99), a reworked and enhanced iOS version of the Nintendo DS original.

Despite TWEWY: Solo Remix being simply fantastic, that is not what The Internet wanted or expected. The Internet wanted a sequel to their beloved cult-classic RPG, and who wouldn’t? A moderate amount of Internet Outrage ensued.

Well if a teaser image at the end of The World Ends With You: Solo Remix is any indication, they may be getting their wish. A Kotaku reader sent in an image that flashes on the screen following the end scene for the iOS game, hinting at “New 7 Days” and showing a never before seen character who appears to be holding the little kitty that accompanies Shiki in the game.

What this all means is really anybody’s guess. It could be the long-awaited sequel that everybody has been hoping for, or it could be a hint to an expansion to the iOS game. We’ll just have to wait and see if Square Enix drops any more information about the teaser, but consider our interest piqued.
