Earlier this afternoon, Eli and I spent a lot of time with Serious Games’ serious game, Emergency (Free). I went a little overboard in our video when I said it was “StarCraft meets Rescue 911," but I think you my point. It’s a strategy game that revolves around users micro-managing rescue teams on the scene of a horrible accident. The vast majority of the time you’re using firemen, policemen, and paramedics to save people, put out fires, and control crowds of onlookers at the site of big-time disasters.
Here’s a cool fact: Emergency may be new to the App Store, but it’s an old series on the PC that’s seen several, several iterations of the years. It’s hard to tell, but the iPad version might be something of a Greatest Hits, so to speak.
Anyway, Eli and I play the game for about 20 minutes in an effort to give you an idea of the situations you’ll encounter and how the game works mechanically. Emergency is pretty cool, we discovered, so consider giving it a look.
NOTE: In the time between recording this video, processing it, and posting it, Emergency has returned to its normal price of $3.99
