Hey, more sales! We’re not too sure if SEGA is celebrating Labor Day with its Sonic the Hedgehog sale or just cutting the price because it can, but it doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, the games are a hair or two cheaper for a limited time, which means you can walk away with a heavier wallet if this is the first time you’ve bothered looking at the games. And, really, at these prices you should.
Here’s the short list, and just in case anything else comes up, we’ll update accordingly:
- Sonic the Hedgehog – $4.99 → $3.99
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – $4.99 → $3.99
- Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I – $6.99 → $4.99
Sonic fans give Sonic the Hedgehog 4 a lot of grief — if you’ve ever read the Internet or Googled the game’s name, you probably already know this. This is why I feel like I need to add that we loved it and think it feels exactly how Sonic should on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Check it out.
I'm so moved by this "sale" Sega! Perhaps one century you'll have a real deal on Sonic.
Maybe in one milenium people will actually afford to pay more than 99 cents.
Some people already bought these games 2 decades ago for a lot more than 99 cents. Shaving the prices to even 3 dollars for games they've re-released on every platform on the planet isn't exactly asking much.
It's asking much for a terribly ported game. Just check out other sales.
I'm not defending Sega btw. They cost 4 dollars and I said it wouldn't have been asking much to reduce them to at least 3 :)
People are complaining about pocket change, its silly.
Considering the caliber of games you can get for less on the app store it makes it difficult to drop even "pocket change" when you can get 2 games for the same total that will provide far more time in NEW entertainment rather than nostalgia over levels already conquered decades ago...
I can more than afford it. I... (like many TA members) own countless versions, staring from the original Genesis days. Companies like EA and others dropped higher caliber games to .99. It's Sega's approach to this and you're exactly what they want to attract.
Where is Sonic 4 for the iPad. I've seen it demoed and then it disappeared....
$4 for a 20 year old game. What a deal!!!!
Sonic & Sega Racing All-Stars will also go to 1.99 (but it needs to hit the vote threshold for Openfeint's Fire Sale) ..... (disclosure: I work for Openfeint)
whats a "vote threshold"
If it reaches a certain number of votes, the price drops!
@99c I'd snap up the orig. Sonic......@$3.99 I won't.....Simple. Sure I'm not alone either
