Looks like we were right. Kairosoft’s next English iOS release will indeed be Grand Prix Story, the racing simulation game that hit Android devices earlier this year. According to a small blurb on the studio’s page, it’s heavily suggested that it’ll see a September 8 launch, which gives it exactly four weeks worth of breathing room from Mega Mall Story [$3.99 / Lite].
Previously, we reported on the game’s launch on the Japanese App Store and speculated that, since the English translation work is already done, it would be the next release. Word on the street was that this specific version also included an English language toggle, so no wonder we’re receiving it so soon.
Grand Prix Story thrusts you in the role of a manager of an auto racing team. As such, you’ll be expected to gather sponsors, drivers, and develop new cars and their respective parts. The app description on the Android market says that no formal racing knowledge is needed, just like how you don’t need to be a hot spring owner to really come to grips with Hot Springs Story [$4.99 / Lite].
Obviously, we’ll be all over this when it hits. As a personal aside here, I’m ready to explode from anticipation. Kairosoft makes my gym time that much better.
[Thanks for everyone who sent this in – via App Advice]

"Word on the street"? I want to switch the toggle! I'll buy the Japanese version! I wanna go fast!! :D
Yeah, but it's currently bugged. You have to set the currency to Yen if you don't want the game to crash after upgrading your mechanics.
It's a lot harder than previous * Stories as in you won't be steamrolling over everything near the endgame.
Boooooooooooooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing
If an intern at Kairosoft sneezes, there will be 3 TA articles about it :p
How many more old apps does Kairosoft have left? I kind of wish they'd run out of them soon and to start producing iOS games from scratch with UI and graphics etc made for the iPhone and iPad.
Personally I like the graphics style, and I'm not sure how much more iOS the UI can get than its current implementation. It's got buttons you touch to open menus, and it works quite well. If you're suggesting the dozen menu areas you need to access for their games should be on screen somewhere, no thank you. Now, an iPad native mode would be nice. I liked playing Mega Mall Story on my iPad quite a lot, but it was a bit blurry. That's pretty much the only thing I feel is lacking on the technical side of Kairosoft's games.
How does one bench press while playing iOS games? You sir, are a master. :)
This game wins the charming contest by a mile.
Haha, I don't care. I already bought the game on the japanese store and it's already japanese/english game :D
They should make the game universal as it seems to be on Android phones and tablets.
Shake and bake!:D
Ohh you just managed to get the gym mention in at the end. true to form. Did you realise you missed mentioning.. weights, heavy lifting, muscle or gym and tacked that sentence on the end.
It isnt already on the iOS store?
Hmm... I never looked but I figured it was available for the iPhone too, it just so happens that I got it for my Galaxy Tab (7 inch) some while back, had to have a few games on there too...
Alright... Should i buy this game, mall story, or game dev? I already have Pocket Academy but it is kind of getting boring and I'm looking for something better. Just tell my the pros and cons of each game.
