I didn't actually know this was coming to iOS, fans of the original Amiga game will probably love this. It had pretty good reviews on PC with an 11:1 ratio of positive to negative on Steam so shows a lot of promise. I haven't actually played the original or remastered version though, so can't say anything about how it plays, sorry. Love crowntakers so I've got faith this one is pretty good as well ## LordShad0wz Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2014 4,280 1 38 #7 LordShad0wz, Apr 29, 2015 Hi all, I played the original wings using MSDOS eons ago and I do have the remastered steam version. I can tell you it's pretty fun. If you die in the game you die forever. So don't die lol I wonder how they did the touch controls. I'll be interested if anyone takes the plunge. I might buy it. The image attached is of the PC version, but imps are a mixed bag. I'll wait for some reviews before deciding on this one. EDIT: image didn't attach # it got a 61/100, with 6 reviews: 1 positive, 4 mixed, 1 negative. Also, 15 user reviews with 7.3/10 average score. badmanj Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2009 1,886 24 38 Software developer Reading, England http://www.underground-collective.com #10 badmanj, Apr 29, 2015 Bought and downloading now - unfortunately I just noticed they've re-scored the music for this, so the original lovely sound track may be lost. I just hope they simply improved the old music rather than entirely rewriting it. Bloodangel Well-Known Member Jan 19, 2011 1,824 46 48 Retail England #11 Bloodangel, Apr 29, 2015 Yeah I'm also an original wings player... Great game. Hope this is the same. Maybe some people are negative as they rating it towards modern game releases.. And not against the original wings. I can understand if they never played wings before and was comparing to recent releases as it won't seem a very upto date game. But if they played original and compare it to that, then should give a more fair review/rating coccodrillo Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2012 51 0 0 #12 coccodrillo, Apr 29, 2015 What a flashback looking at the images! How is the gameplay? badmanj Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2009 1,886 24 38 Software developer Reading, England http://www.underground-collective.com #13 badmanj, Apr 29, 2015 Not had a chance to play yet - will do shortly. I did just fire it up though, and sadly it seems the developers don't know how to make the screen auto-rotate, so on the ipad, at least, it's a bit awkward to play with a smart-cover on. I hope they figure this out - it should be standard functionality with any app really. Wings! I played the original to DEATH on my Amiga 500 way back in the day. On nostalgia alone, I made the purchase and will hope for the best. The game is downloading as I write this post. I will post back later! Wings! WOW! UPDATE: The game just installed on my iPhone 6 Plus a few minutes ago, and I couldn't resist a quick try. Firstly, the graphics are nicely updated from the original. The game starts the exact same way as the original and includes the same music. I just created a pilot, assigned some skill points and started the tutorial. I only busted the initial balloon, but the touch controls seem fine thus far (they are inverted and I have yet to check whether that can be changed). The game supports touch *and* tilt controls. Looks nicely updated, but I will give it a thorough run-through tonight. At this point, I need to head home from the office. They put both on screen and gyroscopic controls. The graphics are crisp. Not a single crash. The original gameplay elements are there ! Strafing is still tough as hell and after what 20 years I still suck at it lol. No iap. No ads. One low price. Good programming quality. No lag. I'm using the IPhone 5s running iOS 8.3 Going back in. I still suck at it lol. I hope you enjoy it it was one of those old games that remind you of how things were before micro transactions. I have to say the team that brought it to IOS really knew what they were doing. Billy (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
