Because Gameloft realised the GTA experience most of us wanted on the iPhone is the full fledged 3d 3rd person game, not some half hearted isometric overhead lame spinoff that bombed on the PSP. Same with Modern Combat, Assassin's Creed and Terminator Salvation, where they took the initative and actually brought the familiar gameplay experiences we love on consoles with stunning execution, while others whined about it "not translating well" and gave us crappy spinoffs to placate us. Stuff like Metal Gear Solid Touch, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles etc is what we'd be stuck with if not for initatives like Gameloft's recent efforts.
+1 on a Silent Hill-type game -- though my preference would be for Konami to get off their duff and port SH 2 already. That kind of slow, dread-inducing gamplay would work well on the platform.
I think you answered me on the wrong thread (MC:S). Yes, genius is a good way to describe SH2 -- quite simply one of the best games ever made -- certainly one of the best written. That's why I'm of two minds about Gameloft doing a version of it. They could definitely handle the graphics and the gameplay, and even the general atmosphere. Story-wise, however, they have so far failed to shine (and I'm being charitable). Perhaps if they hired a good horror writer to pen the script...
Metal Gear Solid (Has to have a good story, but seeing whats going on with Dungeon Hunter that shouldnt be a problem.) A real Gears of War one (Terminator just didnt feel enough like GoW for me) Max Payne Final Fantasy Dead Rising Tony Hawk games Half Life Portal (Unless the actual one gets approved) Splinter Cell House of the Dead (unless Sega decides to do it themselves) Virtua Cop
Gears of War Batman: Arkham Asylum Splinter Cell (Detective/spy/action) Mirrors Edge Star Wars TFU (Not like the THQ version) Halo Prince of Persia SOT Legend of Zelda Rainbow Six I know they wouldn't be the original, but Gameloft games are quality copies at least.
Well then, how about Kirby: Canvas Curse? Good platformer that could work pretty well, and one of the few ds games I ever enjoyed.
I imagine they would butcher half-life "It looks like those creatures can only hear things, but they can't see anything. I need to crouch or walk slowly to get past it!"
Sly cooper, all three, but gameloft would probably mess it up my taking away it's personality. Plus, I would have to use a 3g(s) because of the shader....
I don't really like Gamelofts copying games thing, but if they released Dead Rising, Portal, Team Fortress, or a Metal Gear knock-off, I would have to buy it.
I would like to see them bring their own boxing game to the iPhone. I forget what it's called atm, but somethig like KO Legends. It was a good game on cell phone. Also I wouldn't mind a clone of N64's No Mercy game, or Fire Pro wrestling. Edit: we STILL don't have an RTS to play, so maybe clone of red alert/C&C.
Spyro, Prince of Persia, and Patapon. Then, all my dreams would be fufilled... For a month. Edit: Actually, scratch that. I just want the actual people to make these games. They'd lose too much charm with a spinoff. I was thinkin of it as a "which would you want gameloft to develop." Haha oops! But Gameloft should totally do Lair, (or any of the dragon/hero RPG's) or Monster Hunter. They don't need charm.
