What exactly is wrong with JJ? I played it quite a bit and I don't think the gameplay changed or paying customers lost anything when they went free?
^This^ At the end of the day, that's my saving grace, really. Although it seems I've got lots of bucks invested in screw-jobs at this point, if it gets too bad maybe I'll get some sun, or maybe even get off my a** and start another band... lol When Phosphor decided to "fix" Dark Meadow, I was stuck not being able to update and enjoy the new content, but my rationale was that it was a six dollar game when I bought it, I gladly paid it, and the un-updated game I have is still one of the best experiences I've ever had... So yeah, win some and lose some indeed... Peace, DBC
How self absorbed could one be to include a whale customization of themselves. "chief" whale. facepalm The game should be renamed to whale fail.
Ok... He made and designed a game, and put himself in it as an optional custimization. Huh. Yes, clearly the entire game sucks now.
Are there any major gameplay changes to this version? Problem is, in every interview of that ustwo guy that I read, he seemed convinced that the game should be up there making the same money as all the other top games, and how it was way underpriced at $1, when to be honest, the game itself, while a good game, wasn't that great. it's really polished, i'll give them that, but no more so than tons of other indie games. JJ pushes the IAP aspect about it a bit hard, but it's still one of my favourite runners, bought it at a buck and I didn't notice any gameplay changes when it went free either. but the game already seemed to be a perfect freemium fit.
I think the changes to JJ weren't as problematic because it didn't take anything away from those who bought it previously. It only added new things and encouraged IAPs to get them. In any case, it didn't bother me as much as this because I didn't feel that it penalized the previous owners.
You guys do realize how hard it is to remain on-topic when you really want to respond to off-topic comments, right? Especially off-topic comments that you were largely responsible for starting? Put succinctly, when a formally paid game goes FTP/IAP without any recognition of those that paid for it, people sometimes get bristly. And yes, I know, it's only a dollar. Blah, blah, blah. When the dollars get into double and triple digits (lots of games going this route), it gets a little frustrating. And here we are again, discussing yet another game to go the same route. Lather, rinse, repeat... DBC
Weren't those who bought the game previously supposed to get something "special", per this interview? I updated and everything was erased.
+4500 Krill After I updated and booted it up it gave a splash screen saying "...blah, blah, you've played before...here's some Krill...". That got me like 4 or 5 little upgrade bars, I think. Pretty sad amount seeing what I got, imo. lol
I bought the game the week it launched and I got nothing, which surprised me. It is possible I didn't have the very latest version before this update, but I did still have the game on my iPad.
Please I don't want to insult you if you read this developers, so I will try to be nice but il be honest too. This game is a fail whale now, and what is with the strange human face doing on a custom whale. Personally I think that looks a little stupid... No offence. To people who still haven't updated yet, don't.
What?! I thought I'd try the new update... don't!!! It's one thing to add on IAPs like Fruit Ninja. I'd rather they not since it ruins the high score tables, but whatever. The fundamental game is the same. That is NOT true here. They nerfed frenzy mode (before it lasted at least 10 seconds, now it's maybe 4), and buffed clouds making them way deadlier. All in an effort to make you buy IAPs. Nuts to that. Deleted and good riddance.
Like lena, I didn't get anything either. Plus, for the same price the game previously cost ($0.99), you'll get 4000 Krill as an IAP anyway. Since everyone starts out with 400 Krill, all we early adopters get is... 100 Krill extra. If at all. Way to to make us feel "special", lol. Not that I care, but at least don't promise such things when you don't keep them.
Sorry for the thread necro.. Somehow got into this game for the first time in all these years and really enjoying it. I like how the pacing feels slower and its not all twitch. You can sort of plan different paths to take. Never played the original version so can't comment on that. Anyways..fun stuff.
Yep. Love this game! To be honest, it's that theme song that I can't get outta my head, though! Man, I'll be like laying in bed and that damn song'll be bothering the heck out of me! LOL! Good stuff to do THAT! Haven't had a video game tune do that to me in YEARS!
