Probably a bit of both. I don't see why apple won't just release it seeing as it is practically identical to the ipad version.

A week to go and 10 days after iPad release??

    Why?

So TA knew about the release date that Hippieman didn't?

Great! 7 more days of mocking banner adds to look at. Way to string along the iphone/ipod users that have been waiting for this game for months.

Well it is good to have a release date. However, I really don't understand why the iphone version is coming out ten days after the ipad version.

Don't read too much into that. It is STILL in review!

Yikes. I think April 13th is a best guess right now. We are talking to Apple, so that might be when the game gets cleared.

    Truly looking forward to it.

A question, though: most reviews I've read if the iPad version have mentioned the uninspired combat mechanics. So, while I certainly won't be criticizing them myself until I've tried them, I'm curious: what made Freeverse decide to go with semi-automated combat mechanics, instead of action-based controls? (EV Nova-style, for example, simple but undeniably twitch-based.)

I think the general thought is that iPhone approvals have been backed up heavily due to Apple pushing to get out as many iPad apps as possible prior to launch. Apparently devs had up until days before the launch to submit apps, so I imagine there was a mad rush to get them all approved and on the store before the 3rd.

With that, it seems like the iPhone has a pretty significant backlog now (keep in mind how many iPhone apps, including non-game apps, are likely released a day). Nobody has a clue if this is going to be normal now or if this is just temporary until Apple gets the backlog cleared out, but none the less that is the situation for now from what everything people are saying on the forums.

Fourth time I've asked, but I really want to know: What's the price for iPhone version? Please?

  11. No! Please don't make it the 13th! It's my first day back in school after the holidays. Make it monday...

Anyway, I'm really excited, especially after Eli's very positive review

The 13th? What a joke... Well i'll pick it up next month I guess. Here's hoping it releases earlier. And how the hell did TA know before you Hippieman?

If you guys are holding it back your gonna piss off a lot of people. And I doubt they got that date from Apple.

From day one you guys have been a pain in the ass on information, and bullshit about delays. You held it back for the god damn ipad. You couldn't talk about it for some stupid NDA reasons. The game better run smooth on the ****ing iPhone and Touch, at this rate their is no excuse if it does not.

Well for fellow fans looking for something to do, take a look at Empire Ascendant its only about $3 and it brings quite similar game play, with a homage to the 2d graphic era.

About a year to release a game that was at a point quite finished and then held back for the ****ing iPad. And you can't even control your ship in combat. Excuse me, you can fire weapons but can't direct the movement of your ship.

Honestly there's no need for that. You don't know what is really going on. Warpgate isn't the only game affected. There are tons of us waiting around for Pocket Legends and Mirror's Edge as well.

You also have to realize, if this game actually is in the review queue, the developer likely has little control over what happens. The ball is in Apple's court.

Finally, the iPad might be the hottest new gadget on the market in a decade. Sure, I dont really have a need for one right now, but that doesn't change the fact that every developer wants a piece of that potential pie. Prices are at a premium right now and interest is soaring, so you can't blame devs for jumping on that ship.

At the end of the day, if you are upset, don't buy the game, but post flamebait on a message board is not going to help anyone.

Let him vent. Anyways, I am too confused about this. As far as I know Apple doesn't say, "hey we're gonna accept an app on this day". Seems like if they set a date it has been accepted (just my guess), and I can understand how holding back the release even further has caused some frustration/animosity in those people that have been waiting months for this release.

That aside, looking forward to the release- sure I'll pick it up as soon as it lands.

I just think it's disrespectful to the development team, when there is no evidence it is their fault. Plus, even if it did get held back a little bit, there is no need to be extremely rude and immature for having to wait a week or two.

    Wow!
Relax and grow up, the immaturity is rearing its ugly head. It's only a game, it will be released when it's released. I feel sorry for our future with people like this in it.

    You go, girl!
im sure with your constant whining, and now harassment, of hippieman, youre actually going to get the game released sooner. seriously, leave the thread for a few days, and just come back when youre ready to add some constructive thoughts here.

    its just a game after-all.

    Behind you!
personally, I don't care how long I have to wait for this amazing looking game. Sure I wish I had it now, but I will wait as long as needed. The game looks amazing and is pretty much all I have ever wanted in a space game.

Something just changed in the app store. I don't want to get people's hopes up to high, this is just an observation. But up until 11, every time I searched for Warpgate, the app store would say "Did you mean" and then give a suggestion. Now it just says that the app is not there, and if you search for something close (e.g. Wardgate) the store says "Did you mean Warpgate".

Maybe Freeverse was just being super conservative with an April 13th date figuring there is no way that Apple will take longer than that and if it is done sooner, who's going to complain?
