You can target different ships with different parts of your own fleet, but most of the time, there is little reason to do so (partially because there doesn't seem to be any of the rock-paper-scissors elements, status effects, active abilities or other mechanics that can make spreading your damage beyond one target to quickly reduce enemy dps viable, and partially because there is no benefits of manual positioning that would necessitate or facilitate varied tactical targeting), something the game informs the player of early on. Still, this makes the combat more interactive than nearly any other online social base building affair. But nowhere near the persistent online RTS mmo (or just any regular online base building game with a persistent world and traditional RTS combat) I have been hoping for. The rest of the game seems to be mostly very polished but rather traditional clash-of-clanning, but with some smaller innovations (more interesting map/region/world system, a possibly slightly stronger touch of tower defense to base layouts, custom unit designs, possibly a more interesting research, building and tech progression system than most rivals). So if yer in the market for that, this is probably one of the absolute the best of the bunch. (Probably, mind you. I have a rather vague grasp of what makes any CoC-like good.) I'll tap away for a few more hours to see what comes up, but I'll stick primarily to X-Mercs for online social base building with interactive and (kinda) skill-based combat for now, while hoping for a real messiah. The developer is a very well known for its Facebook game War Commander. I was surprised to see that after I logged in with my facebook account, it loaded my facebook game progress from few years ago. !nsomn!ac Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2013 80 0 0 #11 !nsomn!ac, May 1, 2015 I understand this is your first inpression and sorry to say that it is not accurate. I played this game when it first came out on Facebook and the manual movement, manual formation and positioning of the fleet units and manual facing/strifing plays significant role weather you will win or lose at higher level battles. Unlike the beginner ships that have 360 fire range, higher tier ships have diferent turrent ranges, angles and area of effect. Developer transitioned the same strategy for the mobile version. There are not many rts games on mobile and this developer did it very well and polished. Search youtube for some high level pvp or Vega convoy battles to see how manual positioning can make it or brake it in this game. !nsomn!ac Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2013 80 0 0 #12 !nsomn!ac, May 1, 2015 Yea lol, I'm so glad the developer didn't convert it to a CoC clone and left it as RTS. I was surprised to find out that they made it cross platform. I logged in with my facebook and was able to resume my progress from a year ago. That's all I can agree upon for now, Youtube videos notwithstanding (For even with attack vectors and some complications and considerations as a result of manual movement, outcomes still seem overwhelmingly decided by the time (and, sadly, IAP, which does have a major bearing on combat strength) the player has invested into the game, and the resulting ship upgrades, not tactics and skill. The game is a very far cry from the few and truly sophisticated RTS experiences on the platform, such as Autumn Dynasty & Warlords, Red Conquest, Alien Tribe 2, or even Starfront Collision, LAS Warfare, Red Alert and Star Armada.) That said, this is still probably the best online base building social micromanagement whatchamacallit I have come across, next to X-Mercs (which has it's fair share of issues, tasteless and immensely silly portrayal of women not one of the lesser). So kudos to the devs, even if this might not be for me. (Though I will keep at it, to be certain, for VEGA Conflict shows more promise than any other, and your assessment does sway my mind a bit.) baldeagle86 Well-Known Member Dec 21, 2013 737 0 0 #14 baldeagle86, May 2, 2015 I've been playing since last night and really enjoying it! I don't like to feel like I have to play with others (in a sense) with stuff like this Wrath Well-Known Member May 26, 2011 480 9 18 Seattle #17 Wrath, May 8, 2015 I agree, I wish games like this could be against AI and not other actual players, but it sounds like from the TA write-up that alliances will be key: "A large part of this game is building and maintaining Alliances with other players. This is primarily a multiplayer game and, just like Clash of Clans, you can assault enemy bases to steal resources and try to ruin someone's day. The really nice part of this is that your building times can be reduced a bit with a simple tap to request aid and your Alliance buddies can tap on your request to join in. There are no restrictions on how much help you can offer. It serves primarily as an incentive to be a part of an active Alliance." Wrath Well-Known Member May 26, 2011 480 9 18 Seattle #18 Wrath, May 18, 2015 Not to change the topic completely, speaking of alliances, anyone know of a game worth recommending (similar to VEGA Conflict or even Deep Space Fleet: Galaxy War) which does not involve attacking other players or the need for alliances?
