Woohoo woohoo! I'll be snapping this one up hungrily.

Oh and before I forget, welcome to the forums Glenda, hope to hear more from you as this great-looking game nears release. Tell us this if you can...any plans at all down the road for cooperative (or any other) multiplayer?

I look forward to seeing the gameplay footage. Been chomping at the bit for blizzard to port the original Diablo.

Check it out, this game is AWESOME.

I can now answer any questions about Underworlds! It is very Diablo-like and the art style kind of feels almost Ultima Online-ish to me. The controls take some getting used to, I found the best way to play was using the tap on the screen to move then the buttons to fight and loot depending on the situation. I haven't really played it enough to figure out if the dungeons are autogenerated or not.

I think if they were, the developers would be bragging about it... Regardless, amazing little RPG that will make Diablo fans very very happy.

Nice, I'm so buying this the second it hits. They do claim you can 'enjoy Underworlds again and again - no two adventures will be the same' so hopefully that means randomization. So it appears there are no classes to choose from (bummer) but are there at least spells or what? Plenty of enemy variety? Does your avatar change according to weapons and armor equipped (doesn't look like it)?

haha yes! sc is the greatest game of all-time, d2 is second. seriously u are all gonna complain about the artwork... on a game that is probably gonna cost like $5, come on. if this game has multiplayer like d2 it would be the best selling game hands down

So far the only items that are dropping are helmets, necklaces, and swords for me. When I swap helmets the armor model doesn't change, but it might be tied to the chest piece or something, who knows.

So far it seems like you only get the various melee abilities in the level up screen shot. Really great hack and slash though, even with one class. Who knows, they could always patch more in later. The company who made this game seems to have experience in MMO's... So you never know what they have planned in the future. This could just be a tech demo for some amazing project they're working with on a much larger scale. ;)

Who am I trying to fool, I'll buy it regardless if it has a 10% chance at being a Diablo clone. Though I hope to see some dev information into possible updates for classes and such.

Umm, why not? EA and Sega have already dominated the market with their games, Bethesda is making an iPhone game, why wouldn't Blizzard? Their games would work perfectly on this platform, just look at Warfare Inc. for reference.

Awesome, can't believe I missed this thread. I almost bought Inotia tonight to get my Diablo fix. This game looks great and I can't wait to get it, except I can't get over the PoV in the game. Why make it at such a strange angle? I guess so you can see more? It looks really strange and gives too much skew to objects. Either way, this is the closest thing to a Diablo clone, so I'm still getting it.

    Underworlds notes

A few answers - multiplayer could be possible down the line. Pixel Mine (who did the design and gameplay programming) have been running an MMO for several years, so they are well versed on multiplayer programming. I'm digging into the new peer to peer APIs in the new 3.0 SDK too.

We originally planned a couple character classes, but decided to focus on just the warrior to start. But we're leaving the door open to adding other stuff, a lot will depend on feedback from players. I've been doing iPhone apps since the store launched, and understand the value of taking user feedback and updating to tweak things and add features. We want this to be a long franchise on the phone.

We'll announce price probably next week, we aren't going to try to blow it out at 99 cents because there is a LOT of content and gameplay in there. But we're not planning to do an EA style $10 launch either.

I'm looking forward to this game, but I just want to make sure I understand - only one character class upon release?

You can definitely count me among those who are excited by the release. Indeed, it is good to see an rpg esque game hit the shelves that is not anime cutsey stuff.

Hi guys, I'm one of the programmers on Underworlds (I was around the forums too last fall when I released my retro Apple II remake.

Yes, just the warrior in the 1.0 release. We had plans for a spellcaster and thief class, but it just blew up the scope of the game to much initially. But if launch goes well, we'll be looking at several different things to keep the game fresh.

first off, don't just assume its a "diablo clone" dude. The company behind this game has been releasing mmorpgs since eq and uo were out, they have a fantastic reputation and style, i really think this game is going to have tremendous depth, just like their mmo games.

He didn't mean it as an insult. Anyway thanks to the devs for stopping by. I'm glad to hear there are plans to update if things go well. I'll buy it when it comes out and be glad to give you my initial ideas and such.
