Can't wait, both for new content and a performance fix. iCloud hasn't been working for me lately, but I mostly play on my iPod anyway so I'm living with it. It seemed like one time it transferred some of my unlocked gaps but none of my credits, weird.
We are preparing the press release, so you will find out soon enough. Hopefully the news will be out by this weekend. Edit: Looks like news might be delayed until early next week now... but I promise you, there is definitely something big coming next week.
Double laser flip/360 double heel flip Hey there! I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but people seem to be asking a lot of different questions, so I figured, why not try? I recently bought true skate, and I'm loving it! The only problem is; how do I make a double laser flip? And how is it any different from 360 double heel flip? I can easily make 369 double heel flip, but for some reason, I just can't get the laser flip right. It's part of a mission, and I've tried it literally about 50 times. I just can't do it. Any tips or tricks? Am I doing something completely wrong here? Regards, Andy
No worries, Firstly, the trick detection can be unreliable, we keep trying to improve it, but every time we think we fix an issue, a seem to create a new issue. Sometimes it will register tricks wrong. You are right, a laser flip is basically the same as a 360 heel flip. same for double and tipple laser. All I know how to say is maybe take a break and come back and try again later. Eventually you will get lucky.
Just to add into this; it is impossible to differentiate between a laser flip and a 360 heel flip without a body existing. If your body spins with the board, it's a 360 heel. If your body stays still it's a laser flip. Unless we had some way of letting the game know that we want our "body" to spin too. There really isn't a way to differentiate.
Idk what the input from the user would be but if we could get the camera to rotate with you to make it actually a spin trick. I would go ape shit haha. It would feel so good to do bs 270 lipslides!
Yeah I've thought about how cool it would be if actual spins were possible. If I recall correctly, a while back Luke said he had experimented with being able to actually do body rotations on transition, but that the camera spinning actually felt weird. It really would open up a whole new world of possibilities, but I have no idea what a good solution would be to differentiate between a shuv and a 180, input-wise. Actually....right after I wrote that sentence I came up with an idea that might work, but it might not be possible with how the physics system works. Okay, so right now to pop a trick you need to have your front finger not touching the board when you swipe the tail. What if you kept board rotation like that, but changed it so that if your front finger is on the board while you swipe the tail, that will actually do a body rotation instead of shuv. But of course you'd need to remove the front finger right afterward so you didn't instantly slam your board down. So, for example if you're regular, for a frontside flip you'd have a front finger on, swipe down and rightish on the tail, and instantly swipe your front finger like a normal kickflip. The board stays straight like a regular kickflip while the camera rotates around it. Or for a bs bigspin you'd have a front finger on, swipe down and leftish on the tail, and instantly take the front finger off and quickly swipe leftish on the tail again. If you land fakie the camera could instantly rotate back around like it does when you stop and push in the opposite direction. This seems like it would be a huge amount of work considering it would also completely change trick naming. You'd actually be able to differentiate between, say, a 360 flip noseslide and a bigflip back tail, or a kickflip front lip and a hardflip front board, or....a bigspin front board and a 270 shuv front lip. You get the idea. Maybe Luke can chime in on how hard something like this would be, and whether it might be possible to actually get the camera to feel comfortable.
I was experimenting briefly again with a camera lock to board thing recently. I'm actually considering adding it to the game to see what people thing, but you would have to go into the options menu to turn it on and get some warnings about motion sickness. I was thinking about making it require a button on the side of the screen to trigger, but your suggestion of requiring that one finger is held on the board could work. Not sure how easy that would be to implement with our current system though. The grab cam I have been experimenting looks down at board while spinning. I do get dizzy if I use it too much, but I don't get sick. If I didn't make the camera look down, I started feeling a little queasy immediately, and I am not somebody who gets motion sickness very easily. Anyway, I am not sure if or when I might add that. Definitely not on the update due on Thursday. For us, that update is already exciting enough.
I'm excited about this update too! When do we get some news about it?? Also, I prefer the button idea. I wouldn't want it to be a On/Off toggle, but instead more of a Next Trick type button. Have it apply for the next trick and hit it again the next time you want to do it. *also, I would suffer motion sickness for the ability to do this
It should be a matter of hours now but you might have to wait up late. I think Touch Arcade will be first with the details on the front page. Actually grab cam is kind of cool, even if you do get dizzy, it reminds me of the feeling of doing spins and flips back in my agro inline skating days.
Holy SHIT! CONGRATS! This is amazing news. I knew True Skate was the best skateboarding game on any platform since day one and it's awesome to see everybody else catching on. I'm so psyched for this!!! Edit: Do the "flip tricks physics adjustments" happen to include any of the adjustments to realistic mode that you were talking about?
Glad to see some people getting excited about this. We could have chosen to slack off and take it easy for a while, but everybody has been working really hard to make all this happen. Um, it kind of stops some unrealistic ways that the board could be flipped in some cases, and makes it a bit easier to do a straight kick flip. Pop shove its are also spin faster and flatter in non-realistic mode, making it a bit closer to what was already done in realistic mode)
Street League! Fantastic News! Congratulations to the True Skate Team, I'm sure you have been working overtime to make this happen. Can't wait for the new update, keep up the great work!
Man, I don't think I've ever refreshed the App Store so much in a single day. Is the update really supposed to hit today? The anticipation is killing me! Edit: It's live!
