    Realism Mode

It is something Luke mentioned as a possibility in response to a posting regarding the unrealistic ollie heights, not a confirmed feature (yet!).

I still love the game, I just pretend in my mind I am ollieing off an invisible, mini jump ramp, allowing me to clear the 6 - 8 foot boxes/quarterpipes. Or sometimes I pretend I am skating on the moon, and then it doesn't bother me...

Luke, I know you said a lot of people would be upset if you made the ollie height realistic, but I imagine a lot of people probably feel like I do, and wish the ollie height was realistic/proportional to the size of the board. I know some of the gaps/lines are being built for the current ollie-height, but I still think this is an important issue that will make the game much more enjoyable. I am guessing some of your potential new fans may be turned off by this aspect of an otherwise near-perfect game, so I just want to encourage you and your team to address this as soon as possible. I may be totally incorrect here, but I imagine the game would be most successful with a default realistic mode, and then provide the option to have "Low Gravity" or "High Ollie" mode for those who prefer the game as it currently stands.

True Skate is the bomb, thanks.

Which skatepark(s) should i purchase? I'm looking to buy one or two, but I don't know which are the best choices.

Personally I'd say go with the new warehouse level if your only buying one level, they're all good for certain reasons but warehouse is best all round in my opinion.

    Park to buy

I agree with Naked Snake, inbound is my favorite additional park.

But they are all awesome, you can't go wrong.

Perhaps we should double check that gravity is correct, but I believe it is. People are really bad at judging gravity in games. in Jet Car Stunts, gravity is unrealistically high, but people tend to comment that gravity is low. It is just that people are not used to seeing things fall at those speeds and highest.

We actually already tried changing the games sensitivity to be the lowest setting in the options menu buy default. We put this in an update on android. This meant that you needed to do swipe much faster to do a super high ollie. Even though, it was still perfectly possible to do a super high ollie with a little more effort, we got a massive back lash of people complaining that it was now impossible to ollie onto ledges.

I often do have to remind people that you can control the height of your Ollie's with swipe speed, but there does seem to be this natural tendency to move towards naturally swiping at max speed, no matter the set sensitivity.

We will add a realistic mode at some point, but we have been slow as we consider the best way to add this into the game and how it will work with all the other planned updates. We are planning to add a lot of deck customization options with different decks and wheels, and where considering just adding a realistic deck, but I am starting to think that it makes more sense to just add a realistic mode to the options menu.

One of the big problems with a realistic mode will be that it will probably break a lot of existing missions, and require a new set of leaderboards. We can't simple add it as the default mode, even if we thought that was for the best.

I'd be happy if you just introduced a new board with different (realistic) physics, it wouldn't bother me about breaking missions or gaps as I've probably only completed about 5-10 missions across all maps,
I've bought all the maps but I find my fun in just skating around setting up spawn points and trying to nail certain tricks or grinds.
(I'm going to try adjusting the sensitivity and lowering it to see how that works out)

    Monster Ollies

Luke, thanks for your detailed response.

I would like to clarify my previous post, instead of low gravity, it is the height of the ollies that makes the game feel unrealistic to me. The gravity seems exactly right, which is an important point.

My issue is with being able to ollie over spine ramps that appear to be about 6 feet tall (based on the board proportions), or up onto the tall quarterpipes, or up a 10 stair set, etc. Perhaps the sensitivity could stay the same, but the max height the board could reach would be realistic (maybe equal to the highest ollies humans can actually do - which is currently 44.5 inches). It sounds like the complaints you mentioned were from people having trouble reaching maximum ollie height - so maybe a middle ground is to still make it easy to hit the max ollie, but just lower what that max is.

This game is just so super fun, and I want it to feel like real skating - it is SO close, except for the fact that I can ollie so high. This also affects things like timing when to ollie onto a bar/ledge (way earlier than in 'real life'). I think being able to ollie super high off of ramps/banks makes sense, but the flatground pop is godlike.

I totally understand that any changes affect many things, like leaderboards and missions, but this will only get more true as time goes by, not less. Like other posters, I just enjoy the game as a skate simulator, and am not interested in the missions/leaderboards so much, but I respect that they are important to others. Perhaps, at least short-term, the solution would be to add a realistic mode, but keep it separate from missions/leaderboards - it could be an option from the menu that then disabled missions/leaderboards from being selected. I'm sure you have thought of lots of possibilities for this solution, I just want to encourage you to prioritize it, and to suggest that perhaps many of your potential customers might feel the same as to the importance of realistic ollies.

I think you are correct about the natural tendency to do the highest ollie possible, rather than controlling the ollie height by adjusting the speed/amount of the swipe - I will work on that and see if my experience improves.

Thanks again for making the best skate game ever - I have turned many people onto it, and they all think it is awesome.

    Swipe Sensitivity

I am happy to announce that I feel dumb - I have been experimenting with lowering the swipe sensitivity, and with making slower swipes when I am trying more 'realistic' ollies, and it has changed the game dramatically for me.

I apologize if my previous posts were complaining - I realize now that I was pretty much always ollieing with a strong, fast swipe, resulting in maximum height ollies even when I just want to get onto a low ledge/rail. Now I make slower swipes and it is perfect, and I can still bust huge ollies if I want by swiping faster.

This is the best game ever, now I'm just excited for the new parks that have been promised :) I use all 4 parks all the time, they each have their own 'feel' to them, and I really enjoy switching back and forth and experimenting with new lines.

    Suggestions for new parks:
I would love a larger/wider mini-ramp - very similar to the new ramp in the Warehouse, but maybe 2 or 3 times wider, so you can get speed and do long lip tricks, and still make it back in the ramp. I would love to have some variations too - channels, extensions, elevators, a bell curve maybe, etc., to allow for even more creativity.

I would also love another full size vert ramp, again much wider and with some variations like those mentioned above. The game allows for so much speed, it would be great to feel like there was a large enough ramp/park to really use it.

A ditch/snake run with lots of curves/hips and progressively deeper bowls would be awesome.

Maybe a Mega Ramp type of park at some point - it could be as simple as a huge gap into a huge quarter pipe, but it could also go on with hips/rails/etc. as well. Imagine the level starting on a platform, with several options for drop-ins, some of which lead to gaps, some to gaps with a rail over it, or a box/ledge to hit. Then a nice long landing into a huge quarter. I know this would feel very different from the current levels, but I think it would be fun.

Thanks for listening, can't wait for the next update!

It is still a common complaint. Actually, we just started experimenting with a realistic mode, although, we will have to disable things like the missions, many of which may be come impossible.

There are still two parks mostly done which we will be releasing soon, one at a time. They have been a bit delayed because of a lot of other things happening recently.

After that, it looks like the next set of levels after that could be taking a very different direction, but I'm not going to say much about that until are sure of what we are doing.

I know this is probably not the highest priority for almost anyone, but I would appreciate a little TLC for Game Center (I'm an anomaly - I was looking at Touchgrind 2 because I'm anal about this, but I really don't want to need 2 hands to play). It'd be nice to have the connection fixed and some additional leaderboards/achievements (maybe something connected to passing missions per park or number of bronze/silver/gold completions total. IDK, I could make up 1000 more).

Or just get rid of it completely. I'd prefer the former, but whatever.

    Inquiry

Hey True Axis, just wondering if you can give us an idea of when we can expect a new park or update? Every time I see an update available in my App Store, my heart skips a beat hoping it will be True Skate!

    Appreciate your great work!

I forgot about that. It is amazing how few complaints we have had about that. We have maybe only had a few, so it hasn't been a big priority. We get heaps of complaints about other things.

I should have made an anouncement about that a few days ago. We are thinking of releasing on May 1st. It is currently waiting for approval from apple.

    Guess what? Classified.

So, I'm looking at buying this game, but what is the IAP? I'm guessing that the other parks are IAP only, which is understandable, but what else is there that requires real money?

Nothing else requires money to unlock :) Skate parks can be purchased via IAP. True Credits are the currency in the game and are ridiculously easy to earn just by playing the game or just mucking around (tricks, mission rewards etc). These credits can then be used to 'skin' your board (change deck, grip-tape), refill your slo-mo meter or unlock new missions.

You can pay a fee of TC to customise your board, though you need to pay each time (I've only needed to change it once and I've stuck with it) or you can pay for unlimited attempts (which really isn't needed unless you like looking at your board more than skating :p).

Missions are easily unlocked by a small fee of TC, but by beating the missions you will earn back a lot more than you initially paid. You can also unlock all missions via IAP, but you won't need that if you are actually going to play the missions.

The only other IAP is for unlimited slow-mo time, but this is far from an essential item and can also be refreshed for TC. I didn't find myself using the slow mo much at all as it somewhat interrupts the fluid flow of the game and also doesn't give score/TC whilst it is active. I did end up buying it just before the Aus App Store price hike though :)

    tl;dr - Just buy it

DAMN! I went into the App Store and found myself $1 short :(
I was so looking forward to this game though! If there is a lonely code looking for a home, I will adopt it gratefully, but I guess il just cheer for the team on the bench for now.
