Completing a game doesn't really mean much. ANY GRINDING GAME, all of them, at some point can be pretty much completed 100%. A paywall is different where you can not pass no matter what. I deem this game to be like almost all grinding games, where eventually, you will get enough coins, just the question is when.
And he still made it clear that to get 100%, ie first place in every race, that all cars did not need to be fully upgraded, including the top two. And if getting first place in all races is not 100% completion, I don't really know what is. To my interpretation, in a racing game, coming first is the ultimate goal. Upgrading is secondary and merely a means to an end. The end being first place in the race. At this stage it should be obvious that no paywall exists. Assuming one accept its a racing game. Which was the ultimate point in my op. I couldn't care less one way or another if I upgrade every car fully. First place in a race with minimum upgrades is and always has been my focus in racing games. Fully upgrading really just takes all the challenge and skill away. And that first place can easily be achieved without iap or full upgrades. Each to their own though.
So the guy who completes it writes... Not many good things to say about the game. Wonder why he would stay with playing the game so long with such harsh language about it. Strange. ------- Powerhannes words, the one who completed the game without inapps it is designed never to be completed 100%, only because i finished every event 1st it does not mean 100% to me and to most other people around. only when i can fully upgrade all my cars i can enter into competitions with real people you could call it 100%. no one ever asked for one lenghty repetitive SinglePlayer career mode, that makes you feel bored and lonesome. games today are way further than this in terms of community and inter human challenge! even RR1 was better in that clause! RR3 is a step in the wrong direction. i can now say that, cause i played it and know everything about it, you would need to know. those who have played it only 20 hours in the low tiers... with hack or without. wont be abled to tell if its any good or bad or what is possible. i have been there so people would finally believe me, when i say: Real Racing 3 is not a good racing game and the Freemium system is the worst i have ever seen, killing even the last bits of fun! http://forums.firemonkeys.com.au/showthread.php?3048-I%B4m-done-too-here-are-my-stats
Isn't that exactly what enraged so many people about Dead Trigger? Every car can be got through progressing the game, buying it through iap is not necessary. That has proven many times. Some consider it grinding but if its grinding, one is simply not enjoying the game and there's a delete button for that. A selection of cars on an incomplete game eradicates wait timers, there is always a race and a car to play with. I'm pretty sure that's the fault of unscrupulous individuals as opposed to the developer. Hackers will always hack, thieves/pirates will always steal iap from Apple (who do get 30% of the iap) and developers. The same thing is done to every single game on the App Store and in many cases the number of pirated and hacked/stolen iap outnumber the actual legitimate sales. Well you prove this one yourself. If people have hacked the singlesplayer campaign type mode to death, well, its obvious what would (and does all the time) with multiplayer. Not every single game has iCloud. In fact the ones that don't have it far outnumber the ones that do. In fact of the thirty games on my iPad right now (all purchased in the last six months and some unreleased ones), 4 have iCloud or some form of cloud backup integrated. iCloud is certainly still not the norm or the majority. And cloud integration is already active. The means to implement will be in the very next App Store update that RR3 gets. Stabilising of servers is the final element. It doesn't appear to have left the management/reviewers down. Plus a lot of people that have no problem with the game just gave up contributing to this thread for obvious reasons. The "pro developer types" don't need to hype the game, they just don't fall into the trap of instantly hating because of the "freemium" label. I think its the freemium haters that might want to consider removing their blinders and try and be objective. Of course as toucharcade posters tend to consider themselves "hardcore", that won't happen anytime soon. Unfortunately, the overall market demographic and the TA demographic are very far removed. I wonder if the next instalment of GOF will receive the same reaction. Or if IB Dungeons had ever come to light, would it have been criticised to the same extent.

My latest goal was the Veyron, and soon as I got it, getting the Zonda R and the Agera R at discount prices was quite easy. I have 6 cars left to buy, but I'll let the CCXR and the Agera for last. Problems is, after getting those cars, I've been lacking motivation to play as frequently as I previously did.
Rip, You were warned many times not to respond to any of my posts or you will be banned. I have filed an official complaint to the mods. I do not want to have any discussions with anyone that has ties to the developer. Please do not respond to any of my posts.
Say what? We're not banning anyone for responding politely to someone's post. If another mod promised you that they would do this, they did so in error. If you have a personal beef with Rip, just put him in your ignore list.
I don't think it matters the intent, he was instructed by the admins not to respond to my posts, he was put into timeout before, I do not know the full details, but anyway, I will let red1 make his decision when he comes in, he is the only one that knows the past history of timeouts and banning. It is not as simple as this one situation. However if there are rules, they need to be kept and enforced. Thank you.
Ok, well then this is where we were at. Why does a guy who played it so much have such bad things to say about the game?
Motivation is the key here. I am sometimes a bit obsessive when it comes to completing a massive grindfest. I like classic turn based RPGs and like to grind in those games if it puts me at an advantage. With so many cool games out lately that just seem more fresh and fun, I'm just glad if the rr3 itch comes back that I have plenty left to do. I'm still progressing in RR2. Too many distractions though so I'm still just under 60%. Such fun though. .... I wasn't aware of the ties of some folks to the dev. Reactions to stuff now make much more sense.
Connector & Rip73, please save everyone the trouble and just do what squarezero said; put each other on your ignore lists. This is getting out of hand. Also, seriously...stop with the "ties with the developer" talk.
this looks like a courtroom drama, i just sometimes wonder if you dont like X game, talk about boycotting the game for god's sake just move on, there are many games here that folks praise everywhere and i dont like them at all but you dont see me bothering in the thread
Fine, to save red1 some time, I will let it slide for now. But if it rears it's ugly head again, I will take appropriate action.
I generally like the game. If you have seen all of my posts, I rated the game 4 out of 5 stars, have stood firm on my position not to hack the game, am one of the few to still play and have it on my system, and provided the most helpful information in the RR3 hints thread so that my comments were highlighted on TA's frontpage article, link below: http://toucharcade.com/2013/02/27/real-racing-3-tips-on-how-to-spend-as-little-real-money-as-possible/ Yes, I am frustrated about somethings like the wait timers and the ruining of the Real Racing name, but I still like the racing and fun of the game. Yes, I am frustrated with what EA did to RR3, so I did urge a boycott to lower the wait timers. And they did lower them right before the US release, so yeah, I would do it again, even if I lost one or two friends. I did it on principle. I want ios gaming to be good gaming experience, not one based on greed like the wait timers. Even the one guy who seems to have solved the game without all the hacks has been very critical of this game. That should be our right to express our opinions. If you don't agree, well that is your right. But remember, I have said a lot of good things too about the game.
Just tried the game on my iPod touch 4th gen,and WOW.It plays as smooth as on my 4S or 5th gen iPod touch, of course, that the graphics are not that great as on higher-end devices, but FireMonkey did a great job tweaking it for all the devices. As for the monetization,I can understand the urge to make more and more money nowadays, but come on...don't put this kind of iAP's in the game. My ideal pricing would be : - Make the game $4-5$ with no wait time for upgrades - Ability of iAP,but only for those who can't wait to gather the coins/gold for a car.
Over on pocketgamer the following just showed up : "At the Game Developer Conference 2013 in San Francisco, EA and Firemonkeys has revealed that the first content update to Real Racing 3 will be the Chevrolet update. It will add 2 new cars - Camaro and the Cobalt SS. Other feature updates include 100 new events, cloud save functionality across iOS, Android and Amazon, a better notification mailbox system, better notification system, and extensive comparative leaderboards across all the game stats. It's due mid-April on all platforms." In another article they also mention something called 'hunter mode'.
I was just about to post that...damn it Link to article: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multiformat/Real+Racing+3/ip_news.asp?c=49690
