LOL. Don't beat yourself up over seeing my name on the push notifications a lot lol. When I wake up in the mornings, I see 5 screens worth of scrolling push notifications saying I've been beaten lol.
Reason I turned off push notification: Getting notifications whilst I'm doing everything saying everyone but Connector has beaten my course time
You have no idea what psychological implications your pwning have on me. All night I was floating in my own sweat, turning left and right, in bed. Your name floated in front of my eyes. I heard horrible scary engine sounds combined with manic laughs. Then these penetrating sounds disappear with a Doppler effect, as you scoot off in the distance. Leaving me in the dust. This morning, I was afraid to come out of bed. Afraid.... to look at my iPad, to flick it on so that it loads the latest notifications. Now I am at work. Looking at my bag. I never removed the iPad from it ever since I got out of bed back at home. Afraid to touch it. Afraid. Of more F34R. *camera zooms in on said bag, cue dramatic movie score*
I didn't even accept the push notifications, and still get them outside of the game. LMBO!!! Best post I've read on here lol. Also, this game runs EFFIN amazing on my Nexus 7, compared to my iPad 4!! No lag in cutscenes, scrolling in menus, etc. WOW. I'm going to have to play both lol.
Well, lacking the ability to play this on my 3GS, I decided to grab the Android version for my Nexus 7 (and yes, I know this is an iOS thread). So far, not having comparison to the earlier versions, I'm not as mortified as I thought I would be with the wait timers YET. I've only played 4 races (the 4th one I played three times realizing an upgrade would be needed if I wanted to place first). Only lengthy wait time was changing my oil (5 minutes). I'd be curious to know if there's any differences in the IAP/wait-time systems between the iOS and Android versions. I doubt it and not sure if there's really a good way to tell. Anyway, I've been using the "Connector rules" to racing (ie., mostly avoiding damage as much as humanly possible over speed even if it means driving through the grass). And they've worked well so far. I'll see how things continue. This may have been clarified in one of the other 200+ pages of this thread, but can you close the game and wait out the timer? Or do you have to leave it open? I'm the type of gamer who plays in short bursts so the timers may not be as bad for me. I'm not about to praise EA for the system. It sucks. Big time. And I won't be buying my way out of waits just on principle (even though I would have put out the $10 or whatever for a non-wait time, reasonable upgrade system game). Off to bed...gotta get a few hours of sleep in...and remember that I was somewhere around page 250 of this enormous thread when I come back in the morning ).
Just wanted to say Eli, I read your review, and I thought it fair and well written. I agree with your review, and while I hate the wait timers and the "too high" inapps and would have liked a little better AI, nonetheless the racing, graphics, and content are top notch. So I agree, I too would give it a 4 out of 5 stars due to the above.
Anyways here is my review. Previous link didnt work. This one should. Keep in mind this was written 2 weeks ago on the Australian build of the game.
Just a side note... again, I can 100% confirm that I was able to save the data from the NZ version, delete the app, download the app US version, and transfer the data back to the iPad 4, and it all worked just fine.
Poor Eli, he is starting to take a lot of heat in the comments on his review. Here: http://toucharcade.com/2013/02/27/real-racing-3-review-vastly-raising-the-graphical-bar-while-adding-loads-of-timers-and-iap/
What??? Did I ever tell you how hard it is to be President of the Real Racing 3 Loserz Club? I still got my training wheels on with full assists. At least you have now proven worthy of being in our group. Application accepted.
Using iExplorer is how I do it. It's gonna be a few hours, but I'll make a video showing how to do it. Scroll back a page or two and there are some comments by me and others regarding it already.
Connector you will be so much faster without all the assists bogging you down. They really are not needed. I dont know if this kind of game comes natural but i dont think i ever have had a "repair" timer over 10 minutes from damage and one of my best courses is the street one lol.
Better solution: Download the local version with Itunes on your pc. Ready No transfer of your data back necessary.
