Take a second look at the released content, and you'll realize my opinion is disappointingly accurate.

I have watched that video obviously.

Go to 0:55 in that video and watch how sluggish it looks, not to mention...knockback? You lose control of your character for a knockback. That = bad combat mechanics.

All the images of the interface e.g. talking to an npc, going through inventory, it all looks so amateur. All the colors in the interface seem to be lacking vibrancy.

Decent game, yes. Great game, nope not at all.

Hmm, must be your computer or something. It isn't sluggish at all for me.

    You are focusing on details.

    1) This game has been made by only 2 guys.
    2) It is targetted for handheld. You obviously forgot that. What you saw on youtube is 2x the size it's been designed for.
    3) You only got 3 posts on these forums, each one are critics of this game, which lead to believe you're nothing but a troll, or an enemy of these guys. In all cases you're not objective.

Come with a little more activity in this community, proove that you've got more than abstract critics to say (binding the word "terrible" to each of your argument is not professional), and people might start to discuss your opinion.

As you can see, it's easy to point at errors, harder to seize the right value.

Shoot, I missed the part in the forum rules that say your first posts need to have uplifting views on over-hyped games.

I've been looking at iPhone apps and app (p)reviews since the app store opened, and lol I realize the "screen is going to be smaller than what I watched on youtube."

Despite it being made by 2 or 20 guys doesn't change the fact if we're going to thoroughly enjoy the game or not, I don't see how this is something we need to consider when buying the game.

Forum credibility should not automatically render an opinion false.

If you can divine combat mechanics and inventory/character interface from the "released content' (such as it is), you should perhaps change your name to "TheMentalist." And, as most people in this thread known, the idea that a single player RPG can "only go so far" was pretty well dispelled by Bethesda's products.

Let's say you are right: it's "just" a decent free-roaming RPG. There ain't too many of those in the App Store, so perhaps some of the excitement is warranted? Huh?

My guess, though, is that you saw a good opportunity to troll by dumping on everyone else's parade. Good for you, newbie.

By the way, the sluggishness of the video has been explained convincingly by the developer -- just read back 15 posts or so.

Sorry, yours was too agressive and not expanded enough to be automatically rendered true.

What renders your opinion false is that there is no way to know that a game is overhyped before it's actually released. Hype can only be measured against reality. We won't have access to reality till the game is available. The fact that you make blanket, uninformed statements is what loses you your credibility.

Look, if you came in here and said something to the effect of "you know, that inventory screen looks like crap to me," you would be treated very differently. People might still disagree with you, but they'll respect the fact that it's your opinion.

Mmm yummy. The vid makes me want the game more.

Sorry you don't like what you see bravetarget maybe when it's released there will be enough shown for you to see the goodness of it? Either way no sweat off my back if I get it and you don't and vice versa :D

The point I'm trying to get across is just because it's a 3D Open RPG doesn't instantly make it Morrowind or Oblivion. Bethesda threw some elements in there that are clearly unmatched in Ravensword.

I feel like this is going to be one of those apps that everyone gets excited for (obviously), but after you pick it up, the next thing you'll notice is you're setting it back down. Mainly from bad gameplay mechanics. The sore interface is something a good handful of gamers can deal with, but mechanics...those break any game.

I can understand that you'd rather not get caught up in the hype and then be pleasantly surprised (or not) by the actual game. Frankly, as my experience with Samurai and Mellon Golf has shown me, there's something really cool about discovering great games (IMHO) that catch you completely by surprise.

At the same time, there are many people here (including me) who enjoy getting caught up in the excitement of a game and are willing to chance disappointment. It's not that we're stupid or naive: it's just that we see the hype as part of the fun. I don't think anyone here expects this to be Oblivion or even Morrowind -- that's just dumb, considering the platform. But given what we've seen so far of the game, there seems to be a good chance that end result will be pretty impressive in its own terms. :)

    Guys,
This is going to be my last post for awhile.
We have decided to sign on with a publisher and it will be announced soon.
We are going to put an extra few weeks in polishing the game and fixing (animations *cough cough). We are both extremely happy that it worked out this way. The game will be better - it will be promoted better, and there is a better promise for what comes after this release.
All of your comments have really been taken into consideration and we will be improving and adding things.
    Thanks,
    Josh

Excitement is good, isn't it ?
Why should we forbid people to have some ? ;)

Now it seems that you spotted something that seems serious to your eyes.
What I wanted to say by "it's been made by 2 guys" is that trashing them is not gonna make them be better, because they are human sized. It's not gonna be ingested by a customer service, nor driven to a full Design department that would pass through the rude words and instantly transform it into what you wanted it to be.

    - If you put some rude, short, abstract critics on random details, and do not even bother to contribute to game enhancement, then your opinion will never be welcomed by anybody, starting from the developers themselves.

    - But if you want to make things better, do post some constructive suggestions, like everybody does in these forums. Be professional, transparent, objective, and you will be heard. Maybe you suggestions would even find their way to production.

    Cheers

Congratulations on getting a publisher -- hopefully it will not delay things too much.

(Guess you can't say who it is till they make their own announcement, right? Damn!)
