I think KR was the first one to popularize it. In a sense, I think KR is the Halo of TD where they took some formulas, put it all into one, and made something really successful. Anyhow, how do the heroes work? You can have 2 at once? It's the same as KR where you can tell them where to move or are they AI controlled movement? And how's the length of the game? Tower upgrades actually feel substantial, they increase not only in capabilities but visually too. It feels so good to upgrade your base tower from a single gun turret up to three. All of the Hero weapons cost in game money to upgrade, which you will naturally win at the end of each level. I'm guessing that if you don't have the patience to earn money in game (natural progression) you could pay a couple of buck to improve your Hero's fire power.
