I want to add my thoughts on this wonderful game now that I've done the 100% completion. Such a lovely surprise and one of my favourite games of the year without any doubt. Beautifully and thoughtfully designed with a tangible sense of excitement on finding a new area or set of screens. Lovely audio, charming graphics and super controls. I love adventure games (and Metroid style games in particular I suppose you might say) and this is an absolute winner in every way due to the way everything unfolds so naturally and with such a surprising sense of freedom - even though it's a linear game. Clearly a labour of love and serious praise has to go to Maximilian for this achievement. I just hope it's not *too* long until the next installment! Bravo.
Thank you so much! Towards the end of development I was really feeling negative about Nubs' Adventure and that nobody will like it or even care. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! In other news, the awesome Mat Dwyer, who did the soundtrack for Nubs' Adventure (and every other bit you hear in the game), has released the soundtrack. Check it out if you like! -> https://matdwyer.bandcamp.com/album/nubs-adventure-ost
Yep i'm looking forward to his new game in the future. But also check out his previous work, Rico. Its excellent, nice retro graphic style, well worth checking out
Got it, played it, loved it to bits I work with a guy who's nickname is Rico so I had to buy it the moment I saw it! This guy knows how to put together a platformer for sure and Nubs' is the absolute proof of that. Both games awesome, but Nubs' hits the sublime level for me.
If four more people vote for Nubs' Adventure in this week's poll it could win game of the week: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=262786
Hey! It might be a bit too late already and maybe I'll jinx it by posting this, but! PLEASE help me out by voting for Nubs' Adventure here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=262786 And here are (my) reasons why you should: Nubs' Adventure is a labour of love, not a calculated effort to make a profit. I'm just a single developer and I created Nubs' Adventure in my spare time. Winning the GOTW award would mean SOOOOO much to me. The other games all seem to have been featured by Apple already. Nubs' Adventure wasn't. Maybe winning this could convince Apple to take a second look. Thanks!
Really disappointed that the only way I found out this game released was by scrolling through 15 pages of TA. Was really looking forward to it ever since I saw the Appspy video, so I purchased the full version right away. Extremely fun gameplay, I can barely put it down. Easily 5-stars.
I hear you... but my attempts to bring Nubs' Adventure to a bigger audience weren't successful. Which is why it is so hard to find. No App Store feature means nobody knows it exists. :/ In the meantime, I've been working on making the game a better experience: In the next update, German and Spanish translations are coming!
We're doing a review, but it got held up by the IAP issues in the initial version. Literally couldn't play it to assess it, haha. Anyway, you should be seeing something on the front page in the next day or two.
This looks much better now than when it was demoed on Twitch a few months back. Glad to see it finally got released.
YEEEAAAHHHH!!! Do you remember who did that? Because I never streamed it. I intended to, but never got around to it.
Fun game but I got to the point where I fight a sort of a space ship that drops mines with the worm in the caves - and I have to say I totally hate this bit. I hope I don't get too frustrated and pass this part.
It is very difficult to sell without being featured by Apple. If they put you on the front page, you do pretty great... if they don't then you just don't sell. There are probably some exceptions, but that's the general trend.
This is probably the hardest part of the game. Here's my two tips: Spoiler 1. Attack from above, it's way easier. There's a path to the roof of the room over on the right. 2. There is a teeny tiny hitpoint gauge on each engine of the spaceship. If you get one engine down to zero then additional hits on that same engine will be wasted. I didn't figure this out until a second playthrough (I had to beat that boss for my 7 year old son).
Touch Arcade did a review!!! Here is it: http://toucharcade.com/2015/06/09/nubs-adventure-review/ Spoiler: Spoiler Nubs' Adventure got 5 stars!
Ouch! Have you tried restarting your device or reinstalling the game? I've never seen that problem before...
