No problem. I'm not going anywhere. I'm looking forward to see where this is going. You sound like a man with a vision and the need to see it through. I'm just glad to be along for the ride. As for the character model he definitely looked more like a hunter to me, but that's just me. Keep moving forward we're all behind you! ( don't look back tho it might be scary to see all these people following you! Ha ha!)
Cheers, really great to hear that! Just read it, quite good. I could not disagree more with Eric's first sentence that isnt going to wow you with an impressive visual engine, though. Brightridge is THE visually most impressive experience on iOS at the moment. And I've seen them all, starting with the very first Citadel demo, over IB1-3 & Ravensword1&2, to the latest what-was-it-called for iOS8/Metal.
Separate thread for exploration sharing I hear you Hypocrypha Finally made the time to get it started, here you go: I invite you all to visit the BrightRidge Cartographers and Exploration Guild, here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=239356
Couldn't agress more. BrightRidge really looks like Gothic/Risen or other stuff. This really impressive, on a phone(!).
While I agree with the rest of the review I think the reviewer is a hardcore casual gamer and hence is unable to comprehend the level of graphics in the game.It wouldn't look good as IB or mC5 which don't look anything special in any way to begin with. The game loads mountains and dense amounts of flora and stuff unlike IB which barely has bloom, and stuff and low res dynamic shadows,Where it's just two poly models fighting against a backdrop of very limited geometry and poor texture work. It's like comparing Cod graphics to Battlefield Ofc battlefield being an open ended shooter wouldn't look good enough but still looks great for being an opg, while cod looks crap even for a linear game. I really find people who consider IB as benchmark funny though even a 3ds/psp would handle those visuals in such a limited game,It doesn't even render the backdrop which is just a pasted on texture. These people know nothing about graphics imo really if they can't even have that kind of basic understanding. People who think games like IB and blood and glory are anything technically impressive and compare them to full blown console game graphics are quite naive and need to play more games on more systems.
Ah ok - thanks for that, I've just picked it up this morning fingers crossed it works ok, but for the price I don't mind trying and supporting the good work. I'll let you know how I get on
I agree with you and Mamalovesyou. I've played games since the day first the App Store opened with 500 apps, this game is visually top notch and impressive. Sure it clips at times for camera and has little collision FX, but some of those the dev said had to be compromised at first and that he's planning on incorporating in updates.
Dude, too cool! I just posted, need to go play and write down directions. Should we keep spoilers highlighted or plain text?
Ok it does work on it but it crashes quite a bit and feels very jerky and you can really tell it loses detail. Glad I bought it but I'm going to hold off playing properly until I upgrade
Always welcome! Seeing as the whole thread is meant as one huge "spoiler", don't bother with hiding them Good catch, I'll add that to the first post. I already have a sightseeing tour jotted down as notes. Will try to make time today to put it in a good format and post it. And by the way, did you find the "New Thread" button? You wrote in your comment on the review that you don't know how to open one yourself.
This would be a good place for another cave. When you approach it as Bird, the spot between the greenery/moss to the left and right even looks a bit like a cave entrance already.
was browsing the app store and under the rpg games section Nimian Legends is ranked 24 so its moving up and probably with the future updates and spread of word hopefully apple will feature it once its complete then we are in the gold zone
@Kyoshirin: Good news! Which country is that ranking from? Here in the Netherlands it's on rank 54, which is still extremely good when I look at the titles above it.
Nice analysis. I think that part of it is that i have a messy, painterly style, and like you touch on it depends what you're looking for when it comes to liking the graphics or not. Some people thought Shadow of the colossus was a jerky, low poly mess. I saw great color, dust and atmosphere. I kind of follow that path - but i can see there's a lot of programmer minded technical details that can look great as well. my best friends dad once told me that he got noise reduction back in the 80s for his music and after a while he was listening to hear how well the noise reduction was working and ignoring the music itself. I definitely want to improve my technique, but i also appreciate the mess of nature, the dusty and particles and splashes and mud Anyways i loved the review and im so thrilled that he captured the exploration aspect of the game.
Thanks - Gothic looked pretty cool. I always wanted to play Risen but i haven't had the guts to plunk down the cash to try it yet. But i did analyze the screenshots to get inspiration and remember Risen had great shadows and dirt textures - that stuck in my mind
This is really cool Nullzone - thanks I put a couple of screenshots and lore on the thread. Ive also started a Wikia wiki that ill be getting to, and im working on the 1.2 update. Slow and steady the world is coming together!
yeah, not to excuse it, but a big part of it is mobile.I had the same issue developing for Flash for a decade - i spent a lot of time making games that had to work in the browser so i wasn't able to build things with all the detail i wanted to. So even though i can do some things on, say, the iPhone 5S, i tend to code the simplest version so that i'll be sure it will run across devices. The more i am optimizing it though, the more im realizing that i can code a baseline of behavior but that i can enhance that on devices that can handle more (so more bones for example for smoother animation on a7 devices) so ill be testing that out and continue to improve what i can squeeze out of devices while still building the app in a way that makes it work across different cpu speeds.
Are you using an iPod touch 4th gen? just curious because i didnt think it would run on that at all yeah, if you can get access to an upgraded device it will be much smoother. I don't know if you already tried restarting the device but that can help too sometimes. Thanks for giving it a try orangecan.
That's so cool I'm trying to keep focused because i know that sales can go up and down. I just have to remember that I have a world im passionate about, i have great people on this thread and who are writing me that keep me boosted mentally, and i need to complete and upload updates based on feedback and my own goals as well(the game has to be good and improve as well). If i do that methodically, keep doing what im doing as well as reaching out, then I think there will be a reward (making the game is a reward in itself, but you know what i mean
