Check this out guys. Touch Arcade just reviewed Mount Olympus - We got 4.5 stars. Pretty excited. It's a very positive review. http://toucharcade.com/2014/03/28/mount-olympus-review/ My friends over at Glitch Games also just got a review for Cabin Escape: Alices Story. Here's the link to that one too. http://toucharcade.com/2014/03/28/cabin-escape-alices-story-review/ Congrats guys!
Hmm...Glitch Games never said anything about it being free only for a limited time. I'm not sure where TA got that (mis)info? I guess maybe it'll lead to more downloads for them, though.
I just came across this app called Stranded (and Stranded 2). They look promising from the screenshots, but all the reviews in the App Store for those games and any others by the developer are horrible. Anyone try their games?
I am always concerned when most of the reviews mention crashing, and that is the case with both those games. Also, I know nothing about the developer of those games, and my instinct is to pass on those knowing there are much better games out there.
I actually have the first one (Stranded: Escape White Sands), and I don't want to speak out of turn here because while I think I've played it I don't remember for sure. If it is the one I'm thinking of, however, I remember not liking it very much because it felt more like a slightly interactive novel then an adventure game. Exploration was limited and there wasn't a whole lot in the way of puzzles. If I get a chance I'll load it back up on my iPad this weekend to confirm my suspicions.
Awesome! Really glad you liked it! Well done on the review, that's REALLY good and very well deserved! We've floated the idea in the office as a possible thing down the line, but not sure about it yet.
Been playing Perils of Man and I really like it. I haven't played many adventure games, I know there are tons of games listed in this thread, but where is a good place to start? What are your favorites?
If you want games "just like" Perils Of Man, TellTale Games has a pretty good selection. If you're fine with a first person perspective then Glitch Games, Fire Maple Games and iCoolGeeks have some top quality stuff. For hidden object games there's Big Fish Games and G5 Entertainment, and for choose your own adventure style games Tin Man Games is the king. I'll let some others jump in with specific favorites while I try to rack my brain for some names to list here.
Don't forget about 3DMethods (the Cryptic games). Mediacity Games also has a couple of good ones. Definitely the Broken Sword games, maybe the Hector games if you like a *lot* of story and dialogue. Haunted Manor (by Redbit) is pretty good, too. And if you haven't played them yet, The Room and The Room Two are games *everyone* should play.
Which Hector game is the first one? Or doesn't it matter? I've been interested in them. I use an iPad. Looks like there are different games for iPad and iPhone.
Hector Ep1 HD. Oddly enough, it looks like they removed the first episode of the iPhone version, which really shouldn't make a difference to you. I just thought it was kind of weird.
A few of the puzzles really, really, irked me and the later areas can be, while not difficult, a pain because mistakes can mean back-tracking and re-completing puzzles. Still, I enjoyed it and think I'd recommend it but I'm hesitant. Anyway, I just finished the first Broken Sword game and found it to be decent; not a personal favorite but worth a play-through. It's got some interesting dialogue and is overall better than, and similar too, Yesterday.
I'm afraid I haven't played it. Though, I've heard nothing but good things and it get's compared to Zelda a lot, for whatever that's worth.
Ocean Horn is really more Legend of Zelda than a true adventure game, but I thought it was pretty good.
