I am using a Steelseries Stratus XL and almost never have to touch the screen. I can run, jump, hit, switch characters, and interact with objects all with the controller. So far there have only been a few small things that I couldn't figure out how to do with it like turn a valve.

It must only support extended controllers (joysticks and dpads) because mine works fine, and both Lego Star Wars and the Lego movie work also.
That could be it, since my Powershell doesn't work with Star Wars either. I'll have to find my Stratus and try it. I never use it because it's too awkward to play games with the controller not attached to the phone.
For anyone using the on screen controls I have a question. A bunch of the AppStore reviews are complaining about the dpad. That some levels are unplayable because you cannot get the characters to do what they need to do. Like throwing Robins baton. Is this true? How are the on screen controls working for you? I've never played a Lego game but it looks like it's fun and I'm always open to trying something different. Thanks in advance, Billy
I use the dpad and have had no issues on my 6 Plus. Hope this helps. Highly recommend trying this game if you enjoy this genre. This, the other Batman game, and Star Wars are great with tons of content.

I thought that, too, at first. If you use the D-Pad mode, you have to hold down your regular attack button for a second, then drag your finger to where you want to target something. It's not the most elegant solution (I wish D-Pad mode would let you tap on things you need to target instead), but it works.
My son is going to go mental for this. I just have to choose this one, with it's awesome DC theme, or the newer Minigures Online game (my son buys all the mini figure blind bag packs).
Switch between classic and toucscreen Description for app says you can switch between "classic" and "touch screen" controls. Anyone know how to do this? My app crashes when using virtual d-pad, but there are things I can't do using the casual controls.
