Nope, nothing like that unless you count JCS2. Not ready to say anything just yet, except there are a couple or projects moving along slowly in the early stages that share some elements with JCS. Will make the anounce ment when there is something ready to show. Hopefully this will be released eventually, but development on it has been held up since andy left. UPDATE Space tripper is actually about to be submitted any day now.
It's been weird revisiting the Jet Car Stunts code base again... especially when I was once part of True Axis. I've been helping Luke out a bit. When I left True Axis one of the last things I did there was to get it running on the iPad1. Then nothing really happened with that update - Luke got distracted with other things and I had moved on. Well that was unfinished business and I'm pleased to say Jet Car Stunts now runs on the: iPad1 iPad2 multi-sampling at 60fps iPad3 full retina with multi-sampling at 60fps iPhone 4s retina with multi-sampling at 60fps Because the App Store download size has increased the DLC will be built into the game - no more down loading. This bit needs to be finished off. Even though the game is pretty old now it looks very nice on the iPad3 with full retina running at 60fps. Luke and I certainly knew what we were doing when that 3D engine was built! And it's just as nice on the iPhone 4S. All other devices will run as before Edit: I forgot to mention that the font has also been upgraded and the blurry menus have vanish on the higher res screens...
so how do we get the goodness? im in the game now and dont see anything new to DL or is it not live yet?
It won't be live yet for another few weeks - the post was just announcing that there will be a long over due update to the game. Give us a chance, I've only been working on this for a couple of days
myself and my 4 year old will be ready when you are. this game is one of the few that has always been on any iOS device ive had. great game.
I think that he means that after we pay for the DLC, it won't download the Retina graphics and so on because the files of the DLC will be already in the game. With previous DLCs you had to wait after paying those because they needed to get downloaded from the servers due to previous .ipa size limits.
This is great news! Thanks for doing this!! These next few weeks are going to feel like forever though .
Woohoo... a week has gone by. It is hopefully getting closer. Any screenshots to try and calm our nerves?
It will probably be submitted at the end of next week So not long now. All that's left to do now is implement the IAP for the DLC levels that are now built into the game - don't worry if you have already bought the DLC levels... you will not be charged again.
That is fantastic news!! So, is TrueAxis still functioning or are you guys off on to other things. Will JetCar 2 ever come to be? With the success of the games like Trials and Joe Danger there seems to still be a market for this type of gameplay.
I'm just helping Luke out - the update has been long overdue and really should of been done ages ago. Jet Car Stunts 2 will come out. Luke is working on True Skate at the moment then back onto JCS2.
I just came on here to make the announcement my self about long over due Jet Car Stunts iPad update, but I didn't realize that it had already happened. It is great that this is finally happening, even just the other day I had somebody email me and ask about JCS on iPad. It has been a lot of work because the code had a lot of mess in it after the android port, and the separation of the Lite version followed by a re-merge, and confusion caused by not having a proper source control system in place at the last update. As Andy said, True Skate is the priority now, check out the Facebook teaser video of True Skate, and the True Skate Thread. Jet Car Stunts 2 is also definitely on the way.
Just to add to Luke's comment - this update will be submitted on Friday. On Thursday we want to do some last checks to see if the update is good to go
That is great news guys. I am looking forward to playing JCS1 all over again on the increased resolution. Thanks. Send me a PayPal address via pm and I'll send $10 your way. At least enough to get a cheap pizza . The ipad update is worth it to me. I bet you will get a lot more sales now especially if the big sites cover the update in their news.
Haha, thanks for the gesture, the update is long overdue really, I just hope you enjoy the game on iPad after this comes out and the buz adds up to enough extra sales to make it worth while. I can't how to log into PayPal anyway, I haven't used it in ages. Although, maybe Ninth Ninja wants a cheap pizza
We just found out the push notification certificate on Jet Car Stunts had run out over a year ago, so nobody has been notified about there challenges. We just fixed it now. I'm not sure how many people actually enable push notifications, but to would have been nice to have that working to announce the Space Tripper launch. We had trouble getting the word out about that game, but it had a 5 star rating on the appstore the last time I looked. Update: The iPad update is basically done now and everything is working. The main font was still a bit fuzzy so I decided to increase it further. We changed the level pack purchase works which was a fare bit of effort, and so many things where a little broken that had to be fixed. There are a couple things that still look a little blurry like the in game buttons, but I might just put this update out anyway once I do a bit more testing my self. It is really good to see the game running at 60fps now on the iPads, and the iPhone4s.
Looks like the upcoming ipad update made front page (too bad they didnt have an ipad screenshot to use). Hopefully you get more coverage from other sites too. The game and you guys certainly deserve it. http://toucharcade.com/2012/07/06/at-long-last-ipad-support-is-coming-to-jet-car-stunts/ Any screenshots available yet for the ipad 1, 2, and 3 to compare them? I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about the release getting so close . I wonder if this should be posted on the upcoming ipad games section too. I don't know how apps that cross ipad/iphone are usually posted.
Thanks to Touch Arcade for the coverage. Will have to think about some screen shots, but I might also just wait for the release. Or maybe a video would be better. I'm just looking at adjusting some of the buttons and trying to get some feedback about why OpenFeint isn't working on the original iPod. We might have no choice but to leave that broken. It hasn't been tested on the original iPhone. Our original iPhone was updated, and needs to be activated, which needs the right sim card which we don't have in Australia. Need to jail brake that or something to test with it.
