Hello lovelies! *long sheepyhugs* It's been a while, hasn't it? Well I have something to show you all, and it's about time! While trying to work out how to make text interactions with characters for another game, I stumbled into making something I *thought* was going to be small and easy to make... Oh silly sheepy. :O So here's a teaser trailer for a new Sheepy game, "Gerty - Robots in Love": The game's a narrative based adventure game of sorts, set in the Air Supply universe (which I know some of you like!) but it's *not* an Air Supply game! You play as a robot Gerty (and can rename your Gerty - e.g. Gerty Sheepy, Gerty Andy, Gerty Gertrude etc etc) and have to find love among the planets! Yay! At the same time, the evil GateKeepers are approaching your home planet of Gertopia in order to remove it from history itself with a borrowed TimeKiller Base super-weapon. Eek! :O You visit planets and chat to people, and depending on how well you do, will be able to progress in the game. I've thought about how to make this kind of game repayable too, so the game chooses six planets from a pool at random at the start of the game. You will hopefully all have unique space maps and journeys through the game! I'm still a few months out from completing the game, so we'll have plenty of time to get re-acquainted! In the meantime, here's some exclusive screenshots *just for you lot* Going into Warp: The Map Screen: Scanning the planet 'Magic 8' A familiar character... Entering orbit at Bindosha And here's a gif of combat against a familiar looking enemy: This is my first game that will actually be available for PC and Mac as well as iOS, so there's a Steam Greenlight page here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=732211665 That has a bit more info and some different screenshots for your perusal if you want to have a look! (also, if you have a Steam account and would like to vote for the game, please do so!) So, there you are. It's something a bit different from me, but set in a familiar universe for some of you! I hope you'll like it! QS =D P.S. Writing this post has been the highlight of a very exciting day for this old Sheepy. I have missed you all too much! *sheepyhugs*
Why thank you kind sir! *whispers* The tea and biscuits are in the post and on their way to you right now! Carry on everyone! QS =D
Welcome back!!! I will vote for you on steam as soon as I remember my login. So, is all of the gameplay turned based?
Hey there CP43 Thanks for the welcome back! *dusts off dust* I'll get back to you in a bit. I was so knackered I had to curl up into a ball of wool and sleep :O I *will* get back and answer your point, but I really need a tea first! *stumbles to kitchen* *falls over* Ow... QS =D EDIT: Hello! That was a long tea break wasn't it? Anyway, to answer your question, the game isn't 'turn based' in the traditional sense. You do chat to characters, which requires them to speak, you to listen, and then respond when offered a choice. The combat is more of a quick-time event. You have to hit the right button before time runs out. As you get further into the game, the timer becomes faster, so while relatively easy at first, it can get challenging later! The game is certainly not an arcade game like the others I've made, which is why I put 'Adventures' under my logo at the start of the video. I still want to do arcade games of course but I'm enjoying exploring a slower paced adventure/narrative structure. I hope people will find it fun! END OF EDIT! *runs away*
So this is your most ambitious title yet. I'm at a loss for fancy words so, "awesome!" will have to do. Between your description and the videos you've posted, its safe to say I'm REALLY excited for you. And myself haha. It's great to have you back posting here too! *sips #coffee* *makes #tea and biscuits for QS*
*sniffs biscuits and tea* *runs back into thread* How kind! Thanks! *munches and sips* *calms down* It really is a massive undertaking 'behind the scenes', despite the game perhaps looking a tad simple in places! (which is partly to blame for it taking so long to make!). One of the reasons I wanted to make this was because, well... cast your minds back to December 22nd 2014. It's a dark and stormy night (probably) and yet a beacon of light emerges in the Docking Sequence thread right here on TA... A certain Mr. Pepper (of the cool variety) wrote these words, and they have stayed with this old Sheepy ever since... You're kinda getting your wish, CP - I am really hoping you'll like it! QS =D
BWA HA HAAAAA! Zap! Zap! KAPOW! Sorry, I've been watching too much 60's Batman. Suddenly I have this urge to boot up PSI 5 Trading Company...
Three points: 1. Never apologise for doing sound effects! They're awesome! 2. I've been getting into the Batman Miniatures Game and the Adam West Batman is definitely one I want to get! 3. I'd actually not heard of PSI 5 Trading Company, but watching a vid I found on Youtube it looked lots of fun! Gerty isn't quite like that, but I think you might like it! I hope you do! Carry on, sir, and great to see you in here Yay! QS =D
Loving the feeling I get in that trailer. Awesome and unique as always. Amazing music that we would expect from your games. Will have to find my Steam password to vote for you. I'll probably be playing it on mobile though. Looking forward to it!
Thank you so much! Thanks! Please ask your friends and/or pets to vote for it on Greenlight - the poor little thing needs a bit of help! Talking of help, Shaun and TA have this Sheepy's back once again: http://toucharcade.com/2016/07/29/air-supply-developer-quantum-sheep-announces-gerty-robots-in-love/ Which is just wonderful. Thank you guys and gals! It is always a genuine surprise to me that people like what I do. I mean, *I* like it, but I'm always terrified people will look at what I make and just hate it. I wish I wasn't like that and had a bit more confidence. But it does help me appreciate the love and help just that little bit more I think! Thanks again, *everyone* *sheepyhugs* QS =D
Sorry for the tardy reply, I fell asleep! Tired old sheepy! :O In answer to your question, I'll be honest: I'm not sure. Remember - none of my games (even the free ones!) have ads in them or IAP or videos or whatnot. Also, as it's coming out on PC too, I have to find a price balance that isn't too cheap on PC, but isn't too expensive on iOS. Luckily I have a few months left to work that out! Thanks for looking and sorry I couldn't directly answer you! QS =D
damn! i go on holiday and this happens. Very limited internet where I am but I cannot wait for Gerty - and Angel Wing!!!! Can't even watch the video where I am but i WILL when I get back.
Hey all! Hope you're having a fun weekend Just thought I'd share a little something you might find fun from the game! This is a pic from the original Air Supply back in 2011 (crikey! That's a long time!) And here's a couple of images from the new game: Same crashed rocket. Same Spaceman Sam. I don't know why I really like that, but I do! Maybe it's because I do enjoy a bit of continuity! Hope you thought it fun too QS =D
Oh my! This wasn't here when I posted before! Limited internet indeed! But maybe that's a good thing? Enjoy your holiday, see you when you get back! *goes into your house while you're away and steals all your tea* Everything's under control here! QS =D
On it! Making a steam account for our fish right now . I'll make sure to pass the word along, I think many of my friends who use steam would like the looks of this. This is super cool! I love stuff like that.
