Good luck with your future endeavors and abandoning the platform that is helping you reach your target!

Hopefully other platforms are even more successful!

In all honesty most people are complaining about the poor controls, camera and such. I couldn't really care less about the save system compared to those other issues.

Stop focusing on the save stuff only. Not to mention the flashlight system that isn't good plain and simple. Most old school games kept a consumable in your inventory for a flashlight. Not a spot on the map to recharge.

You can't take ta reviews seriously since they rated candy crush 5 stars.

i am kind of turned off by this game. Sure I havent spend more than 10 mins yet, but the clunky and slow control, as well as the game save system doesn't gel well with me. I didn't know it has the same save game mechanic as RE...

I mean, I dont mind this save game mechanic in RE, but this is a mobile game. I play this game while I am waiting for a bus, not when I am in front of my TV or PC screen. How do you expect me to squeeze in a 5 minutes play?

Simple answer: they don't. Maybe they should have made it iPad only since they stated that people mostly use their iPad at home whereas people bring their phone eveywhere.

That is a bummer. I have progressed further this time, but I now don't think it'll work better on a console too tbh.

You play when waiting at the bus stop?go play Angry Bird and other Freemium crap Mobile games, but everyone need to stop say "we want premium games without IAP" and console quality, then when happen, they have hundreds of problem, save system?you need to repeat lot of time to reach a PC? I play the entire game on Normal mode, and when I explore everything,I never reach more that 70 minutes without save!

Wait, the guy is abandoning mobile platforms because of a few poor-ish reviews (namely AppSpy and here)? I REALLY hope he reads this post and replies.

So where is the incentive for gamers who DO want console like experiences on mobile to buy this episode of the game when you've basically told us we won't get to finish the story? Firstly, even the best developers at the biggest studios have received criticism of their games from the gaming press. Secondly, if you can't handle a bit of criticism then you're in the wrong business. Thirdly, we NEED developers on mobile who don't want to confirm to the "squeeze a game to suit mobile" mentality. A lot of people, like myself, are done with consoles and use our iPad and MFi controller as our main gaming fix. If you walk away from mobile you're giving into those who want you to confirm to what the platform used to be, what it used to be limited by.

Titles like this, console quality titles, are what mobile platforms have grown to deserve. It is utterly ridiculous and embarrassing to sit with a A8X enabled iPad Air 2 and play crap like Flappy Bird, Angry Birds, and the other limitless amounts of IAP/F2P garbage out there. Yes, there is a market for those titles with the casual mobile gamer who wants a quick shot between train stops, but there is an equally growing yet oddly silent group of gamers on mobile who want to see their devices pushed with proper gaming experiences that they will happily pay for.

Don't let some negative points in some reviews put you down. Use it to improve the experience and most of all listen to all your CUSTOMERS in these 100 or so pages who have given the title glowing feedback. Hell, I'm a big wuss when it comes to survival horror games and very rarely play them (even BioShock scared me lol) but if you remain committed to mobile I'll buy it just to support you.

TouchArcade is, with all due respect to the guys here, the one mobile gaming site who's reviews I don't listen to. F2P and IAP rip off titles get 5 stars, so I'm sorry their reviews hold zero credibility with me. As for AppSpy, it was great before PocketGamer tore out its soul.

The simple fact is that no Candy Crush game is a 5 star game, not even when reviewed as a "mobile experience." Generalised rant coming now. ..

People need to accept that mobile gaming is changing. Mobile gaming no longer can be simply pigeon holed as gaming on the move. It now refers more to mobile devices which can store AND/OR play games of console quality. I'll say again, it's utterly embarrassing that we have titles like Candy Crush getting 5 stars on a platform which runs on 64 bit trip core CPU's and 8 core GPU's. We deserve better, we have the hardware far beyond what consoles of only two generations were capable of. These devices now hook up to TV via AirPlay or HDMI and can sync with high end third party controllers. The mindset of "mobile gaming = short play, F2P, IAP packed, crap" needs to stop.

I'm 36, I've been gaming since my old ZX Spectrum 128k+2 ... my final console combo was the 360 and PS3, I've owned every single system in between, some twice as I imported many from Japan back in the day and then bought the UK edition too. My iPad is now my main source of gaming, and I've enjoyed watching the platform become more and more capable. I buy the newest iPad every year to ensure I have the optimal gaming performance available ... I don't doubt I'm alone and driving developers who want to bring console quality titles to iOS away from the platform is detrimental to both the platform itself, it's chances of maturing, and to gamers like myself and the thousands like me who have to sit here and watch God awful F2P ports of titles like NFS or Mortal Kombat X come to iOS or listen to cheap skate folk who can afford a £500 tablet moan when an app dares to charge more than £3 up front.

At this rate we'll still have people sitting there with A10X 8 core CPU's and 16 core GPU's loaded with 4GB of RAM playing Candy Crush. And yes, there is a market for those games and those gamers, but they should absolutely NOT be allowed to dictate the future of the platform or impede it's maturing by scaring off premium, console developers who see the REAL potential of the platform

This it's why it's mean to be played, also the achievements tell you it's hard, finish without save,or without taking damage,I don't know some of you're gaming skills, but you're worst cause you play too much garbage F2P or freeemium games,
Open you're eyes,or really mobile games become a F2P or Freemium fest, sometimes there need to say no,or we never see Console quality Games..and yes,we talking about we had powerful devices, but there no games that push the hardware,I've my iPhone 6 plus, and I want be surprised by Games of this caliber,so please, let this happen!

    Tato
With the numbers doing so good on mobile why would you guy be abandoning mobile platforms just based off the TA review. I really liked the game and just completed it I was looking forward to the next chapters. Are we not getting the next chapters now? If that's the case real shame because I really liked the game and supported you guys. Please answer and I hope you reconsider and support the iOS platform for the next chapters. Been a long time reader and finally decided to created a account to share my opnion. iOS needs more games like this.

    Agreed.

I feel the developer is confusing mobile simplicity and good gameplay mechanics.

The save system would suck even on a console, it would be more bearable since you are likely at home and not going anywhere soon, but like I've said Alien Isolation a great console survival horror game got criticized heavily for the manual save system.

The flashlight system as well, most console survival horror games uses a consumable like batteries. Not a node to recharge on spots in the level.

It has nothing to do that mobile games shouldn't have those things. It's just simply that those gameplay mechanics aren't good anywhere. Ditto the camera.

Hopefully it's not a final decision. I have also PM'd Tato and expanded further on the posts made here. He logged on and was shown as "Private Messaging" so he has read my comments and I hope he takes the time to reply either in private or here in the thread.

A site that gives Candy Crush 5 stars and lives in the iPhone 3GS era of mobile gaming is not the demographic Tato should worry about, nor is AppSpy who as I said sold its indie soul to PocketGamer and have churned out utter tripe since the original presenter, Andrew, left.

TouchArcade isn't great because of the reviews, it's not even great because of the reviewers. It's great because of the community on the forum who keep every iOS gamer up to date with what's new, what's due out when, and with real world thoughts and opinions on the games.

Exactly, the feedback should be taken as constructive in that sense and a game mode added which allows you to save at will. Sure you are robbing yourself of the genuine, proper experience, but if that's what some people want (and I guarantee that even on Vita or WiiU these same review "complaints" will come up) then give it to them.

People who bought it wanting a 90's style survival horror will play it as intended, but the game won't be harmed by adding a manual save at any time option, nor will it drag the title down from a premium console title to a more mobile friendly one.

    To all haters:
Here is a list of useful points you want to know (in case you never read the game description):
If you are looking for gaming on the go, this game is not for you sorry. This game have specific mechanics that you have to learn while playing, it takes time. We tried to bring our console experience to iOS, more specifically "old school survival horror mechanics". It's clearly stated in the game description (even on the game images).
If you wanted checkpoint save systems to save anywhere, again you should read the game description, it was clearly stated there too. Next time dont go buying games and then criticize them for what you want it to be, this is unfair.
There's a combat tutorial who clearly explains how to properly do combos hit (to avoid getting hit by enemies). Trying to deliberately hitting enemies won't help and you'll again get punished.
If you find the camera too slow, please care to read the game manual, it clearly says you can tweak it through the options menu!
If you want to magically touch enemies and kill them, this game is not for you.
If you want to magically touch objects in your scene and interact with, this game is not for you.
If you want old school survival horror console quality experience, this game is for you (and please, bring your MFI controllers, your experience will be even closer to console).
Btw, I'm not mad and I'm not being pulled in any way by haters or ridiculous reviews but I found it really unfair to give 5 stars to simple shitty games and being too harsh and nitpicking with more complex bigger games (Limbo, 2 stars hello?)

We'll continue to push boundaries on mobile space, bringing new experiences to the mid-core and hard-core mobile gamers but we won't prioritize mobile anymore. Mobile hardcore gaming still very very young and casual gamers in general they are not ready yet for bigger complex games.
All in all, we still have 4.4 stars on TA forums, 4.5 on AppStore customers and please care to do a google search, you'll find out that most of our review sites (despite PocketGamer, Destructoid and TouchArcade) give the game very high reviews.
We'll keep improving the game and I welcome anyone to send me emails if they want to contribute on future updates and episodes!
    Thanks again for your time.
