Hey guys, Just a note to let you know I'm listening to the suggestions (appreciate them!) and will do my best to address them in the 1.1 update. I'll see about a "Save battery" option - as is, it shouldn't be worse than any other arcade game now though. I don't do anything weird with the hardware or anything, just standard Open GL in a tight gameloop. About the dungeon text prizes - yep, most of theme are randomly generated, it's kind of a for-laughs type of thing as every once in a while you get something really weird/wrong that makes you smile. I've added "wimp" to my "add to dictionary" list (thanks) for the next version. If you find any others please let me know! And to that one guy, yeah I edited your name on the scoreboard, I thought "urapebabies" might be a bit uncool if kids are playing ("Mom.. look at this!") , so it became "ulovebabies" which isn't that much better actually now that I think about it.. I do have a "profanity filter" in place for globally ranked names (and words you make) but I don't have "rape" on the list, it's just a part of too many innocent names to get that touchy I figure.
This is a really fun game! I just stumbled across it and took a chance, and it paid off! I love the timed aspect, and the fact that you can't repeat words in dungeons so that you have to constantly think of new words. I agree with some that posted that different dungeons could have different themes, and some character animations might be nice. Or maybe a "quest" (ex: Find the Jewel of Youth! OR Steal the treasure of the Zombie Wizard!) for each dungeon with a map that we can navigate through for each dungeon and that could have us encounter the beasts or traps. Also, as with the Turtles, different monsters should have different requirements. Like maybe certain monsters need words with a certain number of vowels, or consonants, or something. Or maybe there are magic using creatures that cast spells of their own, like they cast a "word jumble" at you, and you have only a few seconds to block it by spelling the word correctly or you take even more damage (ex: The Ice Beast is trying to freeze you with "MOFURS" spell. Unscramble it to block it! "Answer: FORUMS"). Also, I was thinking: these are dungeons so there should be traps that need to be avoided and avoiding these traps requires a different type of word game (ex: You are slipping into a pit of deadly spikes! Quickly spell three 3-letter words in 10 seconds to climb out!) Sorry for all the ideas. The game got me excited and I thought I would share those. It is already a great game and it can only get better!
I must say that I have had no battery problems with the game. Today I played all three game modes through (75 levels) without needing to charge the battery of my iPhone 3G. In my opinion the game does not use power more than any other one. I agree with other posters, this is a great game.
Having played the game much more over the weekend I have become somewhat frustrated with the lack of randomness in the dungeons. Seems like similiar monster patterns play themselves out over and over. I realize part of this is there to provide a strategy element and gives you a chance to use your letters wisely in order to slay some of the creatures with high levels of life points. Unfortunately I have found myself playing a game for 20 minutes or so and then have a dungeon with a real crap selection of letters and seemingly no possibility of slaying the creatures. Having voiced those complaints I have certainly gotten my moneys worth and then some out of the game. I will await the update and see what it brings.
Hi! I bought this little gem and was sucked in in this very fun and brilliant word game that, for some reasons, remember me a lot of Puzzle Quest (I hope in some future a sort of 'campaign' would be added). English not being my mother tongue, I have some difficoulties to pass the 6-7 dungeon...so I wrote the dev asking if there is some hope for other language dictionaries in a future update. I'm REALLY happy to report for everyone on the fence who speak other languages that the dev has the intention to add other languages dictionaries to the game in future updates (German, French, Italian and maybe others). Just to let you know. Now back playing...
no its not. Its the name of a game. I never heard it used in a normal sentence without someone talking about the game.
I was a bit burned out on word games until this one came along; using words as spells causing damage to monsters & the addition of a few other RPG elements is enough of a twist to reinvigorate my interest in the genera. One question - in the Help section they mention that some special tiles can be "stacked". I'm not sure what they mean. Do they mean that special tiles can be combined with others? (I'm doing that already.) Just want to be sure I'm not missing out on some devastating ability.
Yes, I believe that's what it means, though I think it means more specifically that special damage tiles have compound effects. (i.e. using a 3x damage with a 2x damage will effectively grant 6x damage, as opposed to simply multiplying normal damage by 3x and 2x separately) I agree that this is different enough in the word game genre to stand on its own two feet as an original twist. I ended up playing the entire game all the way through the first night I bought it, which says a lot for someone like me who used to go through a lot of games for reviewing purposes. (I still go through quite a few, but now it's purely for pleasure.)
Wow it finally got an update today! This is a brilliant game from ages ago, if you don't own this...get it now. Going to play it again now #
Talk about a blast from the past... gonna dive in again too, had completely forgotten about this. @ZS77 I can confirm the screen size is updated to fit the 5s.
Considering it's an oldie, has it been updated for new screen sizes as well? Looks like my kind of game but I have a thing about borders.....on the phone screen I hasten to add.....I'm not Trump....I don't want to build a wall.....
Wow this looks interesting! Could we get some impressions please? I didn't even know this game existed...
