Love this game, but really need that random opponent feature because apparently nobody on the internet likes me D:

This is a great game! I have some feature suggestions, some of which I think have already been made, but here it comes anyway:

    1) A shadow under your disc so that it's easier to stop in the right place when you use the brakes whilst flying through the air.

    2) The ability to 'prime' a power-up to go off as soon as you flick your disc. Sometimes you want to activate the power-up as soon as the disc starts moving, and it's just too difficult to flick the disc and then hit the button immediately after. Sometimes I'm too slow and sometimes I miss the button.

    3) Someone mentioned combos earlier on. I think it would be neat if there were, say, three 'power bars' instead of one, and you can keep on charging till you've got three full bars, then use up to three power-ups in one turn. Perhaps this would be an extra game mode as it would change the game considerably.

    4) It could be neat if you could nudge your disc slightly to the left or right once it's moving – there could be a limit on it, like one nudge per turn. Or perhaps apply spin with your initial flick somehow, like when you're playing pool or snooker and you spin the ball. Like the last suggestion, this could change the game a fair bit, so it might be better as an extra game mode.

    5) Let's say you're playing a two-player game, it's unfair because the player who goes first is effectively getting an extra turn. If player one finishes first, player two should get an extra turn – if they can cross the finishing line in that turn, then it's a draw. Obviously this can be scaled up beyond two players.

    These would be very welcome!

The shadow need not be visible all the time—just a vague soft blob directly below while airborne would be fine!

(Also, some little “grinding” sound to accompany the sparks effect would be neat.)

How about some stats, pixelocity? A record of my win/loss record would be nice. At least let me see how many times I've come in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. That would be awesome!

Never really thought about that before, but yeah that makes it unbalanced. hmm..

Thanks for the feedback, everyone, lots of good stuff. We will probably have leaderboards at some point.

Also, not sure if many people know this, but when you are behind in a race, your power meter builds up faster. So if you make use of these more frequent powers, you can overcome being the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th player. This is the balancing mechanic in the game and why we don't see many more 1st player wins than 2nd player wins. That being said, we'll definitely keep an eye on the numbers and make adjustments if an imbalance appears.

Thanks again for all the great feedback!

Ah, cool! I did wonder why the power meter seems to go up faster sometimes :)

I'm not sure if this has been suggested, but it would be cool to be able to save replays of your best shots. Even better if you could share the replay with other players by email or something.

Another random suggestion: a little badge counting all new chats, at the top of the list. Just so you know to scroll down and find them. (Since they can happen in between turns days apart, or in games that are already over.)

The extra boost for someone who’s behind does help equalize that factor, but I feel it doesn’t fully solve the problem. After all, if that last player out of 4 gets ahead, the others gain that same advantage from behind! But if player 1 crosses the finish line, nothing gives those other players their "lost" turn.

Look at it this way: even with the current “latecomer bonus,” it would be more fair to let every player, after someone wins, take a turn until all have had the same number. (So if player 2 wins, players 3 and 4 still get a chance to tie. Players 1 and 2 don’t get to go again—they had their turns.)

It’s really about ties that “should” sometimes happen, not about wins/losses. Same with many board games. Not a big deal, but I think it would be a nice enhancement.

EDIT: As I think about it, the most fair might be to do that but NOT have the “latecomer bonus”... I’m not sure. It sounds like the “extra turn” proposal could give later players an unfair advantage, since they’re automatically behind (and this get the power-recharge bonus from the start) AND yet they also get the same number of turns as player 1... except they can’t win with that advantage, only tie? Have to sleep on that one I think... :)

    ================

By the way, FWIW I ran into a random glitch in “I in the Sky.” (The first actual physics glitch I’ve ever seen! Not bad!) My disc was traveling perfectly flat (no ramps, jumps, dips off of edges, or bombs) and moving very slowly (about to stop) when I hit the Boost. The disc did not boost the way it had been going, but rather boosted sideways—AND it passed through the side rail as if nothing were there. (I didn’t notice if there was visible geometry intersection, but the disc wasn’t affected by the rail.)

This did not affect the outcome, since boosting in that spot was fatal stupidity no matter what :)

But FWIW, see the attached. The black arrow is the direction I was slowly moving when I hit Boost. The red arrow is the way I went—straight through the side rail—as captured from replay in the second image.

Thanks for the support Federov, we're glad you like the game!

Touch Arcade gave us an awesome review here:
    http://toucharcade.com/2010/12/27/disc-drivin-review/

We've been featured in New and Noteworthy and What's Hot in the Racing and Action game categories, but not anything on the front pages yet. Still crossing our fingers for that! :) In the meantime, we're hard at work making a great game even better!

Hey Federov, I don't want to get off-topic too much, but the most recent games we released were Halo Wars and Age of Empires 3 with Ensemble Studios before Microsoft shut down the studio. We've done a lot of other stuff too, but that's for another topic somewhere else. :)

Thanks again for playing Disc Drivin', we hope to have some more information on the second update soon.

Yeah hoping for the random matches update :)! Hope everything works out for you guys pixelocity! If you can make that feature I will be happy :D, and the option to add you someone as a friend when you meet him online :)! I hope gamecenter can make this a little easy for you!
Also if you can make a "Solo"option for the game it will also be appreciated, I only play iPod online games at home (no 3G) so I wish i could play this all by my one when i dont have an internet connection :D

Hope the updates keep coming, even if they are small :)

    Good stuff

Really enjoying the game, as is everyone I turn on to it. Seriously, I've never had a game take off with my fellow iPhoners like this one has. There's seven of us in the office playing this thing amongst ourselves throughout the day. I'm pretty sure we're about to get a "No Disc Drivin' during office hours" mandate laid on our asses soon.

Some of the items on our wishlist:

A "pull to refresh" feature on the game listing page.

User selectable # of laps to run.

"Tank" powerup. Your disc knocks other discs out of the way but doesn't affect the course you're on at all.

    More tracks, natch.

Unique push notification sound (current sound used for hitting the brakes?).

But mainly kudos and keep up the great work! I have a feeling this thing is going to keep slowly growing and then start surging forward. Seriously, everyone I've gotten to try it has become an addict.

Oh, one other thing, I've not made it through a local wifi game without the thing spitting the bit before the race is over. Local bluetooth has worked fine everytime though.

    Great ideas above!

One thing I'm struggling with is button placement for powerups, I'm holding iPhone in left hand, swipe with my right hand but sometimes if I want to initiate an extremely quick jump powerup I can't swipe my disc then get same thumb/finger to the powerup button quick enough so then I'm trying to use my left thumb hovering above the powerup button to tap the moment I've swiped the disc LOL!

What about an option to be able to tap anywhere in the upper half of the screen when the disc is in motion to activate the powerup? Just a thought.

I was gonna mention the same type thing.

I wish the contact area around the power up square was bigger. Frustrating to have a shot planned out only to miss the power up button by a fuzz. Please make some kind of adjustment.

    Thank you.
