Hi there, Jan here, the developer of Cavernaut. I'm super excited to announce that this game is now available on the App Store. If it sounds like something you'd like to play, please give it a spin, and let me know what you think! Cavernaut Jan Schoenepauck Pilot your spaceship through a maze of caves on an alien planet. Try to reach the surface, while collecting luminum crystals which you can trade for upgrades. Watch out for hazards like mines or laser batteries, and keep an eye on your limited fuel supply. Cavernaut is a cave flyer with its roots in classic arcade titles like Lunar Lander, reinvented for the iPhone and iPad: You steer your ship with simple touch and tilt controls through a cave that is randomly generated for every game. Each time you play, there's a new path through the caves, and all the items and landing pads are in different places. "... it all comes together into a tense, surprisingly strategic experience" (Nathan Reinauer, TouchArcade) "Cavernaut proves to be quite challenging yet satisfying." (Jennifer Allen, 148Apps) "A perfect coffee break title that has the addictive components of games from the old days." (Andre Eriksson, Cubed3) "With simple but addictive mechanics and a very efficient control system, Cavernaut is a small but truly enjoyable mobile game." (Fabio Palmisano, Multiplayer.it) FEATURES + A randomly generated cave that’s different each time you play + Simple touch/tilt controls for super-smooth flying + Five areas with increasing difficulty to master + Lots of upgrades for your ship + Cool neo-retro graphics + Game Center leaderboard and achievements + Old-school pay once & play, no free-to-play >>>>> Always running out of fuel? Collect luminum crystals, the universal currency in this part of the galaxy, and use them to buy a bigger fuel tank for your ship. Or reinforced hull armor, better shields – *anything* will increase your odds for success in a place like this. But there's more to discover: You can find pieces of alien relics that are scattered throughout the caves. Collect all parts of a relic to add it to your collection of precious artifacts. Now that's something to brag about in the orbit terminal's bar! >>>>> No in-app purchases. Ever. Pay once, play as much as you like, all future upgrades included. No free-to-play mechanics, just old-school gaming. The atmosphere's great and I love that there seems to be quite a bit of hidden depth to the game. Also, the tilting's on par with Ridiculous Fishing, so you don't look like an idiot while playing the game. Einheit B, have you thought about maybe implementing a slider or buttons in there as an option in case people don't like the tilting? You could have the right side of the screen be the thruster side, with the left being the directional side. And yes, I have thought about that, although I developed this specifically as a tilt-controlled game put in a lot of effort to get the tilting working smoothly (which you noticed, phew ) That being said, I will probably experiment with an alternate control method when the demand gets too high. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #4 metalcasket, Sep 22, 2015 I don't know about touch controls anymore, tbh. I mean, the more you play the game, the more it becomes evident the controls are practically flawless and would either just clutter the screen or be super annoying to use in portrait. Of course there are going to be naysayers, as with all tilt games, but I LOVE the way this plays. NOEN Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2012 3,245 0 0 U.S. #5 NOEN, Sep 22, 2015 Just ran into this game today while snooping around the AppStore. I'm absolutely loving it. At fist I was thinking "Ugh. Tilt controls!", until I started playing it. I don't think I'd like the game any other way. The controls are perfect as is. I did swap the inverted controls in the settings. I like it better that way, but yea. Enough about the controls. This game is really good! Well worth the buck. You can upgrade your ship, find collectibles. It's more than just getting through caves. There's always something new I'm finding. Very well done. I totes recommend this one. Oh, and no IAPs! Just a good old fashioned mobile game. It's something I have already heard a lot from my beta testers & other players: It takes a while to get used to the controls, but after that they just works fine. And still I am SUPER HAPPY every time someone tells me that! As for being compared to Ridiculous Fishing now that is hands down the most awesome thing I've heard today. noteatino Well-Known Member Jun 27, 2014 555 0 0 #7 noteatino, Sep 22, 2015 Hi, I'll defenitely give it a try, but do you have any video? NOEN Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2012 3,245 0 0 U.S. #14 NOEN, Sep 22, 2015 I think it has an ending. Making it to the surface, but it all has to be done in one run. You play, you die, you collect money to upgrade each time and eventually you upgrade your ship enough to make it to the surface? I'm only speculating, but that's what it seems like so far.
