So am I the only person who thinks this game is rather mediocre? The graphics are dull and uninspired, for one thing. The environments aren't interesting in the slightest and they're bland color-wise. The controls are really clunky. The beetle is terrible. The hit detection is poor, he's too slow, and he's ridiculously weak. The ant is the only decent character, but even he feels extremely weak and slow. The spider is pretty much the same as the beetle. Also, the dialogue is extremely cheesy. It's a game about bugs protecting stashes of food from other bugs. It should be really lighthearted and funny, but instead the game tries to shoehorn in some lame back-story about a great bug war or something.
Pretty much. If you want to criticize a game, don't go for its gameplay mechanics before you even know how to play it properly. Beetle is actually the most powerful hero right now.
I haven't seen a single positive review of Bug Heroes. Proof 1 Proof 2 Proof 3 Proof 4 Proof 5 Proof 6 Proof 7 Proof 8 Proof 9 Proof 10 Proof 11 Proof 12 Proof 13 Proof 14 Proof 15 Proof 16 Proof 17 It's completely logical to expect that graphics will stay the same as more details are added to gameplay at later rounds. You're absolutely right, I've never seen a game succeed with DSS controls. Bug Heroes has more text than my AP bio textbook. The story definately continues past the first history scroll.
@tikicobra, I don't wanna opinionate your opinion.... @least not now back to the game! I played a game offline yday.. did a 35 odd on easy adventure in the kitchen(I was more of the tree stump ant till yday ) I don't have the post button of that anymore... does gamecentre not save scores offline?
Sorry for the double post, but I just finished reaching a somewhat similar number like y'day... I have access to wi-fi, so trying to post now!
I ran into that problem for the 1st time yesterday as well. I had wi-fi when I started playing but had to leave and by time I finished my Coliseum run...I was unable to post the score until I got back home to my wifi. I take it GC doesn't save locally?
I like how anyone with a different opinion is automatically a troll. That's Internet logic, I suppose. If you disagree with the majority, you're automatically stupid.
Yeah he was just stating his opinion and you guys jumped all over him, I agree with some of the facts that he stated: like the controls, they do feel clunky.
I do agree partially that they may have been a little harsh, but what he posted was more of an attack on the game than an opinion, at least from my perspective he sounded like another person that played the game for like 2 minutes than got frustrated and posted an angry comment about how bad the game was without giving it a chance.
Perhaps I sounded angrier than intended. But I wasn't attacking the game out of anger, and I played more than 2 minutes of it. I played up to about the fifth wave of the second level, an I plate the survival mode for about twenty minutes.
I don't feel I was out of line in the least bit with what I said. I just knew from what you stated, you hadn't played much because your opinion on the characters for instance would have been different.
The freindlies are no joke, on the yard map. Just wondering does anyone know when using the better base guns does it buff up the freindlies weapons as well?
Well, that's what you should expect when you provide a pointless rant (that's the way it is, even if it's wrong). Try being a little constructive, and your opinion will be taken a bit more seriously.
First of all, we definitely appreciate criticism, thats how games get better But I also think it can be done with a little more tact and thoughtfulness in may cases... constructive criticism is one thing, bashing a game is another Could you clarify this a bit? I'd love to hear some examples of more interesting environments from other similar arena shooters, just so I can get an idea of why you think so? Compared to most endless shooters that I know of, Bug Heroes' levels are littered with objects, and is one of the few survival games which actually has obstacles and interactivity (bashing enemies against walls for extra damage, knocking enemies off of ledges for ex). Still many other levels have giant NPC characters such as robots and cats, the Yard has rescuable soldiers to fight for you, Pond has turtles, Coliseum has mushroom power-ups, etc... In what way are the controls clunky, if you don't mind being a bit more specific? As for the hero balance, I'll just have to disagree, though I can understand why some people may think this initially. Bug Heroes is designed to take more of an RPG type balance when it comes to the characters, so if you aren't using the heroes as described in the tutorial, they will likely seem weak initially until you gear them up to counter act their inherent weaknesses. Beetle for ex, DOES have weak single damage, but his ability to hit multiple enemies at once means his total damage is massive... its just about using him in the right situations. As for speed, it can be upgraded for almost everyone, whether its through leveling up or using abilities -- remember, Bug Heroes does have some RPG-like progression to it, so we have to make sure characters have room to grow in damage, speed, and everything else; we cant just start everyone off maxed out. There is also a variety of teleport abilities to get you across the map almost instantly (teleport, ninja smoke, ant hole). What do you mean by poor hit detection? In fact, Beetle has such wide swings its basically impossible to miss with him... Again, we do value feedback and I hope you don't take my response in any negative light... I am genuinely interested in getting some more info as to where you're coming.
