It's a small game that you'll likely play for about 30 minutes fully hooked and then throw in the trash, but that 30 minutes should be pretty good! Here's some images and a video. I hope you dig it. YouTube preview: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel I'd gladly hear any thoughts on it. The current game is randomized endless gameplay so I'm planning on making some levels for it, like 10 pre-made levels if the launch goes good enough. I'm into minimalistic design and looks, and this game delivers. It's really simple (I mean, it could not be any simplier than this) but it just works. However, it really plays well here given the ninja moving through the shadows. The varying backgrounds and color schemes helps to spice things up. While the one-handed tap mechanic is easy, it isn't always easy to hit center as the game speeds up. Add into the mix, the varied environs and the ninja's acrobatic moves which can add an extra beat to one's anticipated flow and you have some good challenging gameplay. I've only scored in the low 100s, and all I've seen are stationary objects and opponents. I'm uncertain if the addition of movements from opponents becomes a factor in later stages, atm. Recommendations: 1. Lower the "Perfect" visual cue from the top to near the ninja for better recognition 2. Add visual cues for "Good" and "Too early" or "late" for every dot. This would help users gauge timing more easily given the progressive changes in speed on the fly 4. Add a pause button Questions: 1. The dev mentioned that he may add 10 more levels. If I pay the full IAP, how many levels do I get? 2. Is this an endless game or is there an objective? 3. What do the shadings on the stars mean at the end of each run? Overall, this is a really cool game that is a lot of fun. Patthegymnast Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2016 338 9 18 #7 Patthegymnast, Jan 4, 2017 Love the game but add coins for unlockable characters! MintCity Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2016 200 1 18 #8 MintCity, Jan 4, 2017 Needs unlockables but other than that, FANTASTIC. The art style is amazing and I love the look of the fences passing by as you hop over them! Kudos to the dev! I'll definitely follow your work from now on. Fun little game to play for a few minutes. You've explained the gameplay really well. I agree with the recommendation to line the hit bubbles up more with the ninja. When you're up high in the air it's hard to judge when to tap because the circle is below your guy. @ColeDaddy The star at the end of the round fills up more as you play. When it's full, you are promoted to a new rank, I believe. ROGER-NL Well-Known Member May 21, 2012 4,030 340 83 Male Gamer. Like the game, looks great, first I thought it looks a little light on the gameplay but it's great fun and I got 165 points so far, and bought the ad remover just for support and those annoying ads of course ha ha. gaymerX Well-Known Member Dec 30, 2014 280 0 16 #11 gaymerX, Jan 5, 2017 This looks good, but watching the video posted makes me wonder if the background and overall level is just the same exact repeating art? Is it only one basic level design/endless runner or does the setting eventually change as you progress? It's free, so I'll try and download when I get home. Part Time Monkey Well-Known Member Oct 14, 2015 132 0 16 Male Monkey Man Helsinki, Finland http://www.parttimemonkey.com #12 Part Time Monkey, Jan 5, 2017 snlehton, Thanks a bunch! ColeDaddy, Thank you for hinting that my game's art style works better than Limbo's! The reason for the perfect to be high above was so that it wouldn't get on the way. But I guess it could be related to the Ninja's position... My thoughts on the "good" sign was that it would be obvious that if you don't get perfect and don't die, then it's "good" They do have "Too soon" and "Too late" but those are only shown when the miss is fatal. I also thought about the pause button and intentionally left it out. The gameplay is so hectic that you might not be able to even hit the pause button on time. Yeah I'm planning to do ~10 pre-made levels and some sort of a map/level selection in an update if today's launch goes well. They would be free to play and contain ads just like the current gameplay. The IAP would be just to get rid of the ads. Currently it's a randomized endless level with minor sub-randomizations within the "blocks." The end star is a minimalist attempt at creating a "progress" for you. When the star fills, you get a new rank from the sensei. Thanks for your thoughts. Patthegymnast, thanks! Virtual currency was something I thought about, but then it would've needed a lot of content to use that currency for, and I didn't wanna go down that path.. Maybe later if people dig the game enough. MintCity, thank you very much! Anotherkellydown, When I did some test rounds, the hit bubbles seemed to be aligned most of the time. If you'd hit only "perfects", they'd be aligned perfectly. But through the nature of the way I implemented the whole thing, the Ninja may vary his path a little if you hit the bubbles too soon or too late. I only realized this later in the development and probably would need to change the whole implementation to some spline follow method in order to fix it for everybody. So welp, no can do, at least for now. ROGER-NL, Thank you for your kind words and the support! You're one of 3 people who have bought the No Ads IAP, so very much appreciated! gaymerX, Yeah, the just one randomized endless level and the only goal is to beat your or your friends' highscores. I'm planning on making pre-made levels too, but let's see. The problem is, that the App Store is full of those games and with no mechanic that keeps me coming back besides Highscore chasing I have a hard time booting it back up. Additional characters, skins, enemy variation as unlocks in one way or the other are needed to keep me interested. Hope those get added.
