And if you spend an extra $5 on the C class car pack, you will have an amazing game and you'll be able to focus on the B, A and S cars you want
The ipad 3 version runs fine. Though there are alot of small compromises from the ipad 4 version. The first person no car view runs pretty well on the ipad 3 with pretty good framerates. The full car views have slightly lower framerates and sense of speed. There are some special graphical effects in the ipad 4 version not in the ipad 3 version, along with a little better framerates, so the ipad 4 version is better and has a more fluide console like performance and sense of speed, but the ipad 3 version is pretty good. Makes me wonder if there will be a difference in the ipad 5 version.
Its an absolute must have. Its simply a huge amount of fun that is graphically and physics wise a substantial step up on A7. Easily one of the better games I've played in a long time. As others have just said buying one of the car packs will provide a big advantage later on when buying cars. It won't actually be necessary to own all the cars as buying wisely will get you the end without any problem at all and if you check my post history on it, there should be some useful (hopefully) choices there. At least in my case anyway as I've 38 of the cars with no iap or what could be considered grinding. But if I were to recommend a single car pack at the beginning, I'd go with the C class one as it provides a very good value for money proposition and you'll have a decent amount to pay around with for car choices later on
Serious question here: What jump in Tokyo will let me get 3 flat spins in one jump? For the life of me I can't figure it out. I've used turbo on what I think is all of the jumps and have had zero luck. Halp plox.
Very much depends on the car and the series but.. The ones on the bridge should do it if you hit them right at the right speed. The angles ones for the barrel rolls are useful for it because if you them fast enough and start to drift barely just before you hit them, you'll get a nice combination of height and speed. Other wise the middle flat one should do it. The ramps on top of the buildings to the left of the robot can do it as well but needs a real good combination of events and you'll generally only end up with two if you land too well, needs a spin on landing. That's if its the normal route. Let me know the event or if it doesn't work and I'll come up with other options. Edit. The double barrel roll ramp at the end of the bridge is the best option on the bridge. Have plenty of speed built up and angle on (a heavy drift) going into it. Try and hit it dead centre as you'll get the best height but on a sideways drift to get the best angle. Hoggys option is also a good option because it'll still give you flat spins if you drift just before hitting it. Edit 2. Just checked and Hoggys option works very good if you drift just and i mean just before the ramp because it has a real nice bit of speed built up. Its actually the best option. Watch the landing though.. I managed to hit the robot. Which was pretty cool.
I think I know the right jump. After you take the bridge, you need to take the high road. The jump at the end of the path which goes over the grassy area which all of the paths drive through should give you this if you hit it at the right angle Edit: Wait, that's barrel rolls...well, remember that when you have to get that star
Man...What a tease ): These flat spins are killing me! I know what I'm doing tomorrow on my lunch break. I shall persevere!
When you get to the first crossroad in the map, turn right, the opposite way that eventually leads to th tunnel. When you go down that path there will be another route, take a left and keep going. There is a short jump that puts you on a gondola type building, and on the left of the end of the building there is a barrel jump platform. Drift off of it, and you will get flat spins. It is very high up in the air, I think it's the highest point in the map. This altitude will allow you to get multiple flat spins, I usually gt at least 5. And don't worry about being a noob, I had the exact same dilemma about a week ago, I even asked the sme question.
Monaco showed up lastly in Asphalt 6, and not in A7. Does anybody still read my posts here? I'm telling that for the 4th or 5th time now. I know my postings are far too long and difficult to read because English is not my native language… But I'm trying my best! Season 5, Monaco, Classic event in reverse direction, Electro only, Citroën Survolt. Additional stars: Drift 600 m, eliminate 6 opponents. The funny German word "Fahrt" means: Drive, journey, ride, run, tour, trip. ;-) Monaco has been significantly enhanced in A8 with reverse direction (never seen in a racing video game before for Monaco; in career mode only), infected mode, additional traffic and the fabulous gate drifting challenge. Gate drifting in the gorgeous Monaco track (Season 4, Tier C, Audi RS 3 Sportback): Tap/click to enlarge orig. res. iPad 4 11,000 points for 1 star 12,000 points for 2 stars 13,000 points for 3 stars "Drift 5,400 m" for one additional star "No wreck" for one additional star Despite of the rather weak car (upgrades 2/1/2/1) I made all 5 stars in the first attempt. Exactly. I played it on iPad 3 and iPad 4 and the differences are very subtile, but they are existent. I'm not 100% sure but iPad 4 users might have a tiny bit of an advantage. According to my experiences with A7 there will be differences definitely. A7 was always the first app (out of my "apps bought" list with 11,000 entries) that supported new features. It was the VERY first app of third-party devs that was enhanced with iPhone 5's 16:9 screen p.e. I'll post comparison screenshots as soon as I have an iPad 5 and A8's update. Love it how Gameloft people are asking the community questions about their own game. Have a look at the Gameloft Blog: Those questions are the majority of all questions about A8. I know it's meant as some kind of a business simulation puzzle and this "ask the community, GL" is a new marketing gag. But I'd rather prefer to race all the time (my time is very restricted). When I want to solve a puzzle I'll download a dedicated puzzle game. Wish list: Please add a smart buying/upgrading/"what event next?" advisor/guide directly into the software for the career mode. Ask the programmers, they should know about that. There MUST be a person among the 4,000+ Gameloft employees who knows answers of your questions. Please share those answers. More wish list. Thx in advance. Other than that I am a bit annoyed about the A7 rants here. A7 was exactly the same overwhelming experience when it came out (the same applies to the previous versions). The physics were perfect, the speed feeling was top-notch and everything else. For the time when it was published. A8 is heavily enhanced of course. The differences between A7 and A8 are higher than those between A6 and A7. But the tA editors simply didn't care about (not only ONE frontpage article/review about A7) and there is a completely derailed and unmoderated forum's thread from the very beginning. I even refuse to post a link to that thread. Sanuku posted a huge screenshot of the in-game shop in his first posting (OP) and A7 was branded as a bad, bad "payed freemium" game for the rest of it's days here in tA. People are still ranting! (With very rare exceptions.) I'm glad that Gameloft didn't care (maybe they even didn't know anything about the existence of tA) and proceeded to enhance the Asphalt series!
I'm really enjoying this game so far! I've almost got enough to buy the best car. Only took about two days of grinding!
There is at least one review of A7 on this site - I accessed it a little while ago in the TA app. Got my Cadillac ATS spruced up quite a bit and plesantly enjoyed the reverse Nevada track in season two. Pretty cool. Aside from different cars, a there different track features in the later seasons? Also, are there different types of races? I like how there are not only class races, but races with specific car manufacturers and even with Electric cars.
Wow, only two days to get the best car? That doesn't sound too bad, unless of course you didn't sleep.
A8 > NFS > A7, this is the right formula @Habakuk: Monaco as we know it appeared as you say, but a much simpler version appeared in A4. It is more like an oval, but zones are more or less the same: buildings, mountain, tunnel, sea port (of course, it's Monaco! ). Yesterday I booted my old N95 to check all the tracks in A3 and A4. You were right, the Iceland caves weren't in any of those. Yes, I still read you Btw, controls, graphics and physics have changed and improved A LOT since the first Asphalts in the series. A8 is amazing!
Show me please. Nope! There was only a short freebie alert that was in fact a NfS:MW advertising. But keep on not believing what Habakuk posts here please… Asphalt 7: Heat was on free sale for four times btw, mostly lasting for about a week (minimum three days) what is very generous by Gameloft! I LOVE touchArcade! No doubt about that! (Cool new design btw.) But missing and ignoring Asphalt 7: Heat completely is one of the few dark sides of this portal. Very dark. For some local friends and me personally it was the best iOS game for it's time. By far. (And the local multiplayer mode made/makes it to the best video game of all times and of all consumer soft- and hardware platforms.) I'm not 100% sure yet (not tested enough local mp and HDMI-Out) but it seems that A8 will beat it (for us at least). Btw tA's editors still can't stop ranting about the Asphalt series. TouchArcade Game of the Week: 'Asphalt 8: Airborne' …which is a Mikey Hooks and Plants vs. Zombies 2 advertising at the first place. (Sorry, Jared. I can't recommend that article, although you're praising A8.) Quote: Well, sure: Everybody has the right to express his or her opinion. But you're completely wrong here. Please don't repeat that too often, because it ruins tA's reputation even more (related to the Asphalt editions). And they still can't drive at all (note those are tA's chief editors as much as I know): TA Plays: 'Asphalt 8 Airborne' - Gameloft's Incredible Arcade Racer Sorry, Eli. But I had to RAGE STOP that video after two minutes runtime before I… Cough, cough! The hardest two minutes of my life! Okay, you made "a crazy jump in the Tokyo level". Great! Keep on trying! And "incredible arcade racer" is a very uninspired title. You're a writer/author, aren't you? Call it "the air ballet of the muscle cars in the laguna" or something like that (sorry my English is bad I know). But not "incredible arcade racer", please! (Isn't there a person in your team who is proud about his muscles? You could make some subtle moderation/connection.) Just my honest personal opinion: Professional game portal editors should try to play the most popular computer games of their platform efficiently (even if it's not their preferred genre). You get payed for playing games! (A dream of most of us here.) Try to play Asphalt (it's easy, but don't try to talk at the same time!) before you make your next payed trip to Barcelona or somewhere else in the world. (This advice comes from someone who is working very successful in the AAA media business for decades—completely off computer games btw. And no—my iOS blog is just a little hobby without any revenues.) Maybe I'll try again to read tA's frontpage articles then. No. It's A8 > A7 > A6 > A5 > A4 > A3 > A2 > A1 > A0 >A-1 > NfS (but only that OLD NfS edition with the Citroën DS, praised as the "Car of the Millenium" by international specialized motor/car media). Interesting. Thanks, VirtualBoyFreak! I always love to read something about Asphalt history especially the very early editions. And I always love to read about other platforms related to Asphalt. Is there local multiplayer? With or without bluetooth support? Does it work at all? Thanks for reading. +1 And A7 was/is it as well.
Habakuk, please stop derailing the thread with massive posts about A7 and the history of Asphalt. Its not an Asphalt series blog. Its an Asphalt 8 thread. You're not the only to have played from number 4 (played from number 1-8 myself) and they have their own threads (for the most part) if you want to talk about them. And reviews or not of past instalments have no place here either. Stay on topic. You're derailing things and making it harder for people to find the information they are probably looking for.
