Haha I was the same back in the Amiga days but for some reason (only thing I can think of is they made it easier) when I played it on the iPod/iPad I actually finished the game. I got it at full price and id say its worth picking up on sale if you remember playing it, even if only for the nostalgia.
I had it on SNES and PC, iirc. I never got past...anything . Maybe I'm a better gamer now, perhaps I'm more tolerant of frustration. But I do know my 12yr old self would kick my 34 yr old ass in Street Fighter 2. So I doubt it .
So many negative posts and reviews relating the controls has me passing up on this. It's too easy to aquire this game for PC, where the controls are flawless, and while I'd love to play on my iPad I'm not interesting in suffering through control problems on a touchscreen of all places, even if it is just a buck. It even seems like the original sound has been butchered, a major disappointment. This almost seems like a nostalgia cash-in, which is a serious shame. I'd say that things might improve but, unfortunately, I have zero faith in Bulkypix. *i just saw that this supports the iCade. Can any actual users confirm this?
I think most of the control complaints were made without an accurate perspective insofar as they never played the game on another interface or they forgot that most of the issues in the game were part of the game and the format didn't really change that. I didn't care for the swipe control method, but the virtual buttons worked fine. They might be relevant if you don't have much experience playing games like this on a touchscreen, but if you do, I don't think this strays far outside the pack one way or the other.
Bought it. I just hope they do update it for the screen size. Although I don't think it will happen anytime soon.
Does that wink mean you know something I don't? I know there was a port, but it had poor reviews and it's not in the App Store any more.
He's pretending that the awful port doesn't exist, just like it nice that they're finally making a sequel to Jurrasic Park and only ever made two Alien movies. Ignorance truly is bliss.
$1 great classic action/adventure game TA Review 5/5 http://toucharcade.com/2011/09/15/an-early-review-of-another-world-20th-anniversary-edition/ As a gamer who's not too proud to admit to having greatly enjoyed but never actually completed Another World, I am excited to have the chance to do so on my favorite game platform. I'm definitely more excited, however, that so many new gamers out there will have the opportunity to get to know this title in such a well-executed translation. And, that's absolutely what the iOS version is. It is immediately evident that a great deal of time and care went into making this 20th Anniversary Edition of Another World such a beautiful fit for the iOS platform, and I consider it to be one of the absolute App Store must haves. 148 Review 4/5 http://www.148apps.com/reviews/world-review/ The best and most influential action/adventure games out there. Those brought up on more modern titles might balk at the visuals or the simplicity of the presentation, but I’d still encourage them to acquaint themselves with this special piece of history. And of course, there is absolutely no reason for fans of the original to miss this.
