We absolutely loved Labyrinth 2 when it was first released for the iPhone, so it's not much of a surprise that the game is even better on the big screen of the iPad. Anders Well-Known Member Feb 3, 2009 1,634 0 0 Co-owner and CTO at Color Monkey Sweden http://www.colormonkey.se #8 Anders, Apr 4, 2010 We didn't just upscale the game and submit it. The new stuff in this version is about 100 new official levels that take advantage of the much bigger screen (300+ official levels in total). Also included is the ability to play your favorite iPhone levels. You can download and rate both iPad levels and iPhone levels created by the community for FREE. We have also added full orientation support, which means the menus adapt to the way you hold the device (portrait, upside down, landscape etc). The UI has been completely redesigned and is a charm to use. Graphics have been updated and the textures are super crisp and also the 3D objects have been revamped with about 2x as many polys, while still maintaining solid 60 frames per second (= in plain English, that means super smooth game play). We hope these new features justify the slightly bigger price tag (I know some of you guys will be complaining about the price). This is one of the few games that fully takes advantage of the iPad. Don't forget the developer. They don't have a magical device where they press one button and tada the game is done and ready to be sold... Jebus Well-Known Member Jul 8, 2009 194 0 0 #12 Jebus, Apr 4, 2010 I totally understand why you'd make the iPad version more expensive, but is it possible to add iPhone support for people who haven't purchased the iPhone version? Like a universal that only allows iPhone levels to be played when it's running on the iPhone but will allow all levels to be played when it's running on the iPad? That would really add value for anyone who hasn't already bought the iPhone version. And one app that encompasses both devices would be nice. For those ODC people that delete their lite versions off their computer once they buy the full versions because they only want one version of each app on their computer (like me) Dusse Well-Known Member Mar 4, 2010 76 0 0 #13 Dusse, Apr 4, 2010 Depends on what you compare with. Is it expensive compared to, say Battlefield 1943, Breach, Sonic 4 or Shadow Complex? Hell yes, it's damn expensive. IMO 7.99 is a stretch for this kind of game, 4.99 made a lot more sense. I'm not really a fan of Labyrinth anyway, so I don't really care, but I do not think it will benefit the market (of indie developers especially). While I do agree that, in general, iPhone prices it too low, 7.99 for this game really is outrageous compared to full price Xbox, PS3, Wii, PSP, DS etc games that has a ridiculously higher production cost and yet not a lot more revenue per sold copy compared to this. mr ed209 Well-Known Member Apr 13, 2009 219 0 0 #14 mr ed209, Apr 4, 2010 Hmm. £2.99 for iPhone Labyrinth 2, £4.99 for an iPad version. I think that's fair, personally. I won't be paying more than £7.99 for any iPad games (and I'll only get a couple at that price) no matter how amazing they allegedly are, not until people start to really push the hardware. Anders Well-Known Member Feb 3, 2009 1,634 0 0 Co-owner and CTO at Color Monkey Sweden http://www.colormonkey.se #15 Anders, Apr 4, 2010 It's not designed to be universal from the beginning so it's not something we can do over the weekend (one of the reasons for that is that it wasn't possible in the first betas of the SDK, it was added later). Having said that, I agree it would add a great deal of value, and I'll see what we can do, have to estimate how much work it will be. Anders Well-Known Member Feb 3, 2009 1,634 0 0 Co-owner and CTO at Color Monkey Sweden http://www.colormonkey.se #16 Anders, Apr 4, 2010 I agree, I can't believe how cheap some of those high quality games are. The same with Trine, it was a great game, me and Jim played the hell out of that one. It's a new platform and a new market, so we'll see where prices go. Since a lot of stuff was added and improved (this is like a deluxe or premium version) we figured it would be worth a buck or two more. It's not like it's $14.99 or $12.99, or even $9.99. Sorry for the long post! An iPad level in-game. You can see the highres textures and new 3D objects with more polys. Menus in-game support all orientations and use popovers for settings for faster access. A comparison between iPad and iPhone levels. The new bigger levels are fantastic. The menus have been redesigned to utilize the bigger screen estate. You can now browse through levels and see nice previews at the same time. We also added a cover flow look-and-feel to it. It's super slick. iPad levels shown here. All menus support all orientations, so you can use whatever you prefer (portrait or landscape). Just rotate the device and everything is adjusted. Here is "The Tribute" level pack displayed with 10 cool levels inspired by games we like. On the image you can see "I Dig It", a great game. Can you spot the others? Browsing of iPhone levels in landscape. All iPhone levels are included, as well as 100+ new bigger iPad levels. Download and rate levels created by the community for FREE.
