The Apogee Edition of Dungeon Of The Endless includes the full game and five DLCs. WHAT’S BEHIND THE DOOR? A few hundred condemned criminals were being shipped to the Auriga system on board the prison hulk “Success”. While this was presented as a chance to earn back their place in society by working hard for the common good, they understood that in fact they would be slave labour, sent to colonize an unexplored planet. All they knew about Auriga Prime was what the probes told them: it had water, temperate zones, plant life, and plenty of metals in the crust. In fact, the planet Auriga once hosted a major settlement of the galaxy-travelling ancestors known as the Endless. In addition, the planet was still orbited by a functioning (and well cloaked) defensive system, which sprang eagerly to life upon the arrival of the Success. Within a few minutes, the ship was nothing but a few large chunks of metal falling toward the planet. Luckily, every set of holding cells also functioned as an escape pod, so the ship let itself disintegrate and the surviving prisoners fell bruised but (temporarily) alive and (momentarily) safe to the planet below. Safe, that is, until they realized that they had crashed through some sort of Endless facility, all the way down to a sub-basement so deep and ancient it might as well be called a dungeon… Gather A Team • Form a team of heroes, each with their own strengths (and psychoses) • Equip them, deploy them, and earn powerful abilities • Manage the balance between ex-prison inmates and guards Build Your Defenses • Use the Dust you gather to power the rooms • Use scarce resources to help your team survive • Build minor and major modules to hold off waves of monsters • Decode Endless ruins to discover life-saving technologies Open the Door • Each door is a danger; prepare yourself and your team for anything • Explore and discover an infinity of levels and layouts • Carry your crystal through waves of monsters to the exit of each level • Fight your way to the surface to discover the truth about Auriga The Apogee Edition includes the following add-ons • DEEP FREEZE: New ship, New game mode and New character • DEATH GAMBLE: New merchant • RESCUE TEAM: Three new characters, New monsters, New major module • ORGANIC MATTERS: New ship, New game mode, New character, New minor modules, New monsters • BOOKWORM: New ship, New character Carefully Redesigned for Mobile • Revamped interface • Cloud Save • Pay once to get the full Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee game and 5 DLCs! You need keep a lot of things in mind as you progress from room to room. But nonetheless, a high quality roguelike strategy/RPG. Yes, text size and the overall game feels quite small for phones. Gives a feeling that it’s best played on bigger screens. Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #7 Talbs, Mar 16, 2021 Last edited: Mar 16, 2021 Hot tip, just like FTL, use the PAUSE a lot. Maybe not as much as FTL but it is there to be used. They didn’t put enough emphasis on that by making the pause button a small icon in the top right. edit: also for those new to the game, you can move all characters at the same time by double tapping on any character portrait. It will then select all. and hold down on a room to power/unpower it. There is a strategy in that. Rocksaint likes this. Rocksaint Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2013 666 367 63 #8 Rocksaint, Mar 16, 2021 Yeah, I’ve gotten used to most of the controls. But what to power up/down, what to build and what to research, that kinda gets overwhelming. And any room you leave unpowered, has a chance to spawn enemies. So if you don’t strategize your powered rooms well, you’ll be in trouble. Feels like the game kinda throws a lot at you, right from the start. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #9 anthony78, Mar 16, 2021 If anyone has GamePass, you can try it out there first. But there’s also strategy in leaving rooms unpowered when opening doors because unpowered rooms have a chance to spawn enemies and you gain dust from killing enemies.... ......dust is then used for powering more rooms later in the level, like right at the end when you finally make a run to the exit. So there’s a balancing act just in that. your earnings on each level carry over to the next, which mean that you don’t want to overspend on a level either. Don’t put down attack towers just for the sake of being awwzommm. theres a fair bit of depth to this game, most of which will not be immediately apparent. There’s plenty of guides and tips found online though. A really rewarding game when you figure out some of the complexities. But even just having a go at it without the knowledge is just real fun anyway.....you just may not win that run. Rocksaint, LordGek, skoptic and 1 other person like this. Its much easier to select one or all of your squad as opposed to the way is used to be handled (there was a toggle in the old version that made it so you either selected one member individually or with the toggle select up to 4 at the same time) this new version, the character portraits are on the right hand side of the screen, and you will select/deselect each member just by tapping on their portrait. If you tap each portrait quickly, youll select the characters you tap on as a group, or if you double tap one individual portrait you will select all, no need for a toggle. There has been a big re-work done to the UI, and I am finding it easier to manage construction of modules, turrets, etc. Personally, I MUCH prefer the new control scheme/UI set up to the old version. The text on my iPhone 12 Pro Max is not too small for me, but I could see how it would be for someone who had vision issues/was using a phone that wasn't several inches away from the size of a small tablet. As far as it being bigger/smaller than the old title, it seems its about the same... As far as the game itself, this is still the same amazing dungeon crawling/tower defense title that it was years ago, and I am SO STOKED to see new life brought back to this title. The War Pug is absolutely one of my favorite characters in a game at this moment, and the new ship/characters/monsters/modules add to an already large game. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone that can handle the small text. It is worth the $4.99, worth every penny. EDIT: I am wrong. There is no way to select groups of units, you’ve the option for either one or all. Personally, I think that makes this version inferior to the old version, as one of my biggest strats was splitting my teams into pairs: a door team, and a turtle team. I’d take my fastest runners to open the doors while leaving my stronger/beefier “turtles” In whatever room I designated as the “line” or where I intend to fight the wave of monsters that may be unleashed by opening doors. I can still do that, but having to individually click each member of the pair and issues two sets of orders just increases the time it takes to get anything done. And when you have an entire swarm of monsters bearing down on you, that extra time can get you killed. LordGek, Talbs and brerlappin like this. Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #18 Talbs, Mar 16, 2021 I cannot, for the life of me, get this to work. It’s either one character or all characters (from what I guess is registered as a double tap even though I tap separate characters). Any more tips on how to do it? And on the side note. I’m really unimpressed by the text size. This will definitely be unplayable for anything smaller than a plus phone. They absolutely did not adjust the text size at all from the old iPad version. Apart from UI button layout changes and some menu changes, the game is totally unoptimized for phone. I could see this being INCREDIBLY difficult to play with anything smaller than a Plus. Luckily, this isn’t an issue with me (12 Pro Max) but I could see it being a huge issue for other, smaller devices. As far as how to select multiple characters, it seems to be if you tap the portraits of the characters you want to select, in quick succession, one after the other, you can select multiple members while not selecting all..... it’s not ideal and I hope they tweak that a bit. The OTHER big addition I’d like to see, is free zoom. This game has two zoom functions: out and in (LOL) but there is no variable distance here, the zoom in and out are fixed, you get what you get. On my phone, I keep trying to zoom out/in just a little but end up getting the total floor map or just the standard view height. ....... I still love this game tho...... warts and all.
