The Last Train is a game you need to try for yourself. The story is compelling, the narrative is great and the graphics and music are top-notch. 4/5 Stars Get ready to go on an adventure of a Lifetime!! The Last Train is a Survival Adventure Game where you take the role of one of the last surviving train pilot in a post World War 2 America. The game is set in Alternate History, post the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. In this emotional journey, the story explores how war affects ordinary citizens who want to go about their day to day lives, not just the brave soldiers who fight on the front lines. As a train pilot you are tasked to go around the country to help as many people as you can. Will you help the remaining survivors reach their families, help the terminally ill or will you be greedy and make the most out of the dire situation by hoarding all the supplies you get from them? All the decisions that you take will shape the story and affect the world around you. The game has been built from the ground up to make use of all the unique iOS features. Immerse yourself in the game with the power of the iPhone’s Haptic Engine. The game has been optimised for both iPhones and iPads keeping the design principles and experience of both the devices in mind. On the one hand it’s clunky, doesn’t really do anything new, and there are other games that do each gameplay element better... On the other hand, something about it hit just right. I played it obsessively for a couple of days, without any real push or investment to progress, just to have fun. It’s absolutely a great ‘comfort food’ game - something that you feel welcome in. If you’re interested, it’s not a bad game. But not a great one either. It’s good; and whether you’ll like it depends on your interest in the trailer/screenshots and your tolerance for clunkiness typical to indie games. solarnya Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2015 907 287 63 Male Close to Tokyo, Japan #3 solarnya, Oct 20, 2020 As Japanese native, some texts are too huge, and others are too small. picky NumberSmash123 Well-Known Member May 14, 2015 120 4 18 #4 NumberSmash123, Oct 20, 2020 Last edited by a moderator: Oct 20, 2020 Hello Everyone, We're really excited to announce the release the iOS version our game The Last Train. Get ready to go on a truly emotional adventure like no other. Where all the decisions you make have consequences. Meet over 150 characters with unique backstories and most importantly survive till the end of your journey. About The Last Train: The Last Train is an Alternate History Survival Strategy Game. As one of the last few survivors of World War II America, help the remaining survivors using your train piloting skills. On your way through the country, you will come across a wide range of interesting characters and will be rewarded generously by the rich and get the moral satisfaction of helping the poor. Who will you choose?? We set off to tell a grounded war story, where we explore it from the point of view of a train pilot rather than a soldier on the frontline. This gave us an opportunity to use something other than a gun or a weapon as the primary storytelling device in a war story. Anyway my review would have looked like this: The Last Train: Final Ride - 3.5/5 stars Nothing in The Last Train is new but that’s ok. What the game does differently is use familiar mechanics such as point and click, craft, and text to tell stories from the perspective of bystanders traversing through war torn areas of an alternative America that seems to be hosting WWII. Sure, it’s a traveling survival game that uses crafting, searching, and time management simply. However, if you’re only focusing on game mechanics, you could be missing what makes this game worth your time. It’s essentially “This War of Mine” on a train and that’s not a bad thing. We explore questions like: Who suffers the most in times of war? and Are there any real winners and losers when it comes to war? In my interpretation, I’d have to say the game answers all beginning with “Lest we forget...”. Thanks to the people behind this game for giving me the opportunity to have The Last Train experience. I will continue to play (I’m on Chapter 3) until the end and would recommend the game to others for it’s thought provoking storytelling. P.S. the included pic shows my failed attempt to rate and review this game on Apple’s AppStore. I will try again later...
