IN THE NEWS “A full-on RPG, complete with character progression, inventory management, and NPC interactions ... The character development and combat systems find that sweet spot between being too simplistic to matter and becoming a bloated distraction.” – Gamespace.com “Untold is a really solid and convenient package. It delivers feelings of grand adventure while allowing you to experiment and explore, and it does this pretty much all through text. It may not satisfy folks looking for a flashier, more action-packed experience, but Untold's restraint is exactly what makes it so impressive and refreshing.” – 148apps.com FOLLOW US Discord: https://discord.untold-game.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/Untold_rpg Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UntoldRPG Information Seller:Act None Genre:Adventure, Role Playing Release:Mar 20, 2020 Updated:Jul 08, 2024 Version:1.6.2 Size:109.2 MB TouchArcade Rating:Unrated User Rating:Unrated Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,000 113 #2 ste86uk, Mar 22, 2020 I was going to ask how you will make money if it’s free but I see it has a full game unlock iap which is good. It’s always nice if you can try something first it makes deciding to check it out or not easy and I do like text based RPGs. insats Member Mar 22, 2020 19 11 3 #3 insats, Mar 22, 2020 Right, it felt like the best way to handle things. We were initially gonna go for purchase up-front, but got a lot of feedback during our beta that led to us changing our minds. It's way better to be able to try before you buy. IAP got a bad rep, and rightfully so, because of all the pay-to-win games that emerged a couple of years ago, but I think a simple "unlock full game" is even better than paying up front. I just completed the free portion of the game and it’s certainly left me wanting to learn more and see what happens. It’s why I enjoy the choice of games it’s like your own little world, although so far I feel like my choices haven’t had a large impact given that when I died I could continue on from before that choice. Although I am eternally grateful it works that way as I wouldn’t want to start again whenever I die....which has been a couple of times now. I love that I can add attributes to whatever stat I want which I imagine will give me different choices and options as the game progresses depending on what I am skilled at. I also like the gear and weapons etc feeling like I’m powering up my character as in an RPG game and I always love RPG elements in any game! Wearing disguises is fun too. I feel like this post is too long already so I’ll just finish by saying anyone that enjoys a game book or text based adventure should check it out it’s free to try so why not? Anyone not sure if they like them then start here because as I said it’s free to try and you may find a whole new genre of game to enjoy. Edit: sorry I forgot to ask, roughly how long is the game after the full unlock? Generally I liked to explore everything I can rather than skip forward as quickly as possible. insats Member Mar 22, 2020 19 11 3 #5 insats, Mar 23, 2020 I'd say the total game takes around 7-10 hours in total (including the part before the unlock) for a single play-through, depending on curiosity, thoroughness in reading etc. And of course there's some re-playability value in the fact that different choices along the game will expose different scenes etc. There's some hidden content and multiple endings for example, and the game supports different builds. Playing a charismatic diplomat for example is quite different from playing a more aggressive "warrior" type character. But as @insats said, there is a replay value and I will definitely restart the game just to try a different builds. Not only to see how I can manage to end the game again but to unlock specific interactions, find secrets, get a different ending, etc. There is really a lot of things to do outside of the “Main Quest”. Some are hinted, some are hidden and some are just logical if you have the right item and/or stat. And don’t forget the awesome music in game that will spice up your combats, make you relaxed or stress you in dangerous places. The combats are also cool btw: it is an intricate mechanism mixing your equipment, weapons and stats (and you have weapon skills on top). So even if you go damage dealing style instead of silver tongue, you can go for a defensive build oriented towards armor, parties and blocking with a shield or more towards the agile assassin who dodges and attacks fast with a dagger. I might actually start looking into releasing it for both tvOS and iPad. Would be interesting to see whether it's possible to make it work well on a TV... And there's some overlap in requirements if we need to update all the artwork for TV since that might be required for iPad as well. Been a hectic time for me I have a young baby that makes sitting down with a game for an hour in one go a big luxury that never really happens! So because I’d had a break from the game it made me want to start again so I remember the story more clearly. As this was easily on of my favourite gamebooks I’ve played on iOS. So I am hoping to start again soon but it will be in more bite sized chunks even though this kind of game you just want to play for hours. Then I just keep piling more and more games on the heap! I have seen constant updates for this game too which is very nice to see. How is it going for you all? insats Member Mar 22, 2020 19 11 3 #19 insats, Nov 12, 2020 Good! We're working on a sequel right now Yea, we added support for iPad and screenreaders and have made some UI improvements. No new content though - that'll have to wait until the sequel For anyone else interested, the game is actually on sale this weekend! ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,000 113 #20 ste86uk, Nov 12, 2020 @insats oo a sequel, I definitely have to get a move on! Will your character from this game be imported if you want to or will it be a standalone game? Also for everyone else with him saying it’s on sale it is a very good gamebook and I had more of a feeling of progression and involvement in this one that I do in many others. I enjoyed exploring even where usually in these games you mostly have set paths based on what you choose. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
