Our sun is on the verge of collapse and so mankind has taken to the stars aboard colony ships to seek out a new home. You are the caretaker of one such ship, and must carefully manage the planets you find, technology cards you posses and fellow colonists as they gradually awaken from a long cryo-sleep in order to scratch out a new cradle for humanity. Features: Unlockable cards, races, FTL-Style events and more! Weekly challenge mode with leaderboards! Ladder/ranking system + procedural generation for endless replayability. A satisfying strategic experience in 15 minutes or less. The game combines and remixes many elements of euro-style designer board games like Race for the Galaxy, Imperial Settlers, Impulse, Keyflower and many more to create a thoughtful, interesting and deep experience. A large collection of homeworlds, technology cards and deep space cards together with BrainGoodGames' staple single-player ladder and random map generation ensure that Solar Settlers will stay interesting for a long time. And another one on the front page now. https://toucharcade.com/2019/04/17/solar-settlers-review/ I personally have made up my mind that I will get this at some stage, but am up to my nostrils in my playthrough list so it will wait on the wish list. No review out of me just yet sorry. Though, like I said, 109 on steam. Why do you need me to tell you it’s good? Quoad Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2015 1,108 217 63 #10 Quoad, Apr 18, 2019 Because iOS is not steam. The front page TA review brought me here, the steam reviews got me interested, the total silence about iOS gameplay since people expressed an interest here left me wondering if there was a reason for this (totally immersed and no questions arising, perhaps, given a lot of long threads seem to be driven by grievances or gameplay questions) or if no one had hit buy. 109, though, you say? Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #11 Talbs, Apr 19, 2019 You’re sounding pedantic. Highly rated on steam. A glowing review on the front page here. It’s a strategy game so the UI should be straight forward if that’s the aspect you’re meaning when you say “because iOS is not steam”. What more about iOS is not steam in a strategy game like this could you be so worried about? People aren’t dropping reviews here YET because this game is a little niche, but they eventually will. Until then there’s heaps of reviews elsewhere and even YouTube. Sheesh. Quoad Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2015 1,108 217 63 #12 Quoad, Apr 19, 2019 I clearly disagree. The TA main page has been frankly wobbly in recent times (succession of GOTWs yielding threads with no more than 1 or 2 community comments), ports don’t always work even on strategy, and this niche title did attract a fair few posts before then going silent on gameplay. So, yeah. I think that was a reasonable question to ask! For clarification, I’m interested in experiences based on iOS gameplay. Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #14 Talbs, Apr 19, 2019 Lol. Get over it mate. Or better still, why don’t YOU be the one to buy the game and provide back reviews. Worst case it’s got game breaking bugs like your pessimistic pedantic self thinks, and you can just refund it. Why must I or others face this FOR YOU. Again, 109 steam reviews, and the TA guys have reviewed it as well with no mention of these game breaking bugs you desire to spite me. What more do you want? And relax, just get a refund if it doesn’t work out. Now get ove it and go outside and get some air and try not to think about all the germs outside. Boardumb Administrator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Apr 14, 2009 8,964 880 113 THE BOSS Sacramento, CA #16 Boardumb, Apr 19, 2019 Can you guys knock it off? Steam reviews can be super helpful when a game is ported to iOS, but it's true that you don't get any iOS-specific impressions or problems or whatever. So you either kick back and wait for someone to chime in this thread about those specifics, or you get off your butt and TOFTT like in the old days. But like hijacking a thread to argue whether it's alright to even be asking for impressions or not? What a dumb thing to argue. You guys are both better than that. Lanster27 Well-Known Member Apr 20, 2017 65 10 8 #17 Lanster27, Apr 22, 2019 This is a excellent game and a great port. I've been playing for about 5-6 hours now, have not encountered any bugs. Cant stop playing it, well worth the low asking price. I do have 2 minor suggestions: - Battery drain is quite significant for a game with minimal graphics and animation, even with the accessibility option turned on. Is there a way to implement a battery saving mode? - While playing on the phone, sometimes scrolling around makes the game think I'm holding a card so then it discard it. PapaT Well-Known Member Nov 22, 2011 98 5 8 UK #18 PapaT, Apr 22, 2019 I play this on an iPad and have often accidentally made a move. Desperately needs a decent undo move. The current undo doesn’t seem adequate. BrainGoodGames Active Member Mar 24, 2017 36 7 8 #19 BrainGoodGames, Apr 22, 2019 Noted the battery drain, accidental discard and undo points.
