I played through The Walking Dead and loved Tales from the Borderlands to bits, but was extremely disappointed by the Batman series as it suffered on iPad from never-ending loading screens and many other issues (and didn't look very good) so for this one, I'm definitely waiting for comments from people who've tried it... Graphically, the game looks good: obviously not as pretty as the console version (especially noticeable when the plot takes us to darker settings), but its stylized quality give it a fresh feel. And it's miles better than the muddled mess that was the Batman game. The loading times are also much shorter, and I have yet to experience any lag during the QTE scenes. Again, it's still early impressions, but I'd say that the technical problems that plagued the mobile version of Telltale's Batman game are fortunately absent here (hopefully that'll induce Telltale to fix the Batman game while they're at it)! Man...hmmm...I dunno...I am kinda disappointed, I'm on an iPhone 6s and it doesn't necessarily look aweful, but crisp? Looks kinda blurry and aliased to me in most parts, not all though...which is weird. Maybe something was downloading on my PC while I played the first 15 or 20 min of the game, but I dunno about crisp. I've also definitely had some lag. Nonetheless, from the first 20 or so minutes, I am definitely enjoying it, its absolutely playable without a doubt. I never played batman, but I don't think they screwed up here like people say they did there. Again, definitely playable, little lag spikes here and there etc, not amazing graphics, but good. Oh, and...for one thing...it ain't batman LOL....booooring. Meh...if they woulda gone dark knight...maybe..but screw anything that isn't dark knight haha. It even feels like it was built for the platform, surprisingly. This is based on SE performance, mind you. gonif Well-Known Member Feb 19, 2013 149 0 0 #10 gonif, Apr 19, 2017 On iPhone 7 Plus (128), graphics are sharp, no lag/stuttering, and minimal, "glance-at-the-tv" load times. Looks beautiful, really. You'd expect nothing less, I suppose... Not a big fan of the whole "timed dialogue" gimmick, especially without an on/off option. But, it's only used at certain times and the dialogue choices don't seem nearly as vague as in "Wolf." (For the record, I'm *still* not happy about Telltale's handling of my beloved Fables.). So, even if that annoys you, it shouldn't put you off this game. Seems fun so far, though I'm not very deep into it. The voice actors and music are both excellent. Really don't care for the random "save points" system on a mobile game. Had to repeat a bunch of dialogue/action choices once due to an unavoidable interruption by real life. The story is interesting so far, as it would have to be in a game like this. The action sequences remind me a little of the old Dragon's Lair games, albeit more sophisticated. Speaking of which, the game's control system sometimes confuses me. For example, what is it expecting me to do here? Draw lines from green to red dots? Tap green, then red? It doesn't prep you for stuff like this at all. Whatever I'm supposed to do, I'm clearly getting it wrong because I keep dying. Not sure if the green one is a different option (turn) or just a red herring -- either way, you die if you don't hit the red ones. I actually like that the game doesn't hold your hand. That goes for the timed dialogue sequences; they are a staple of Telltell games and recreate the experience of real conversation, where taking too long to speak can say as much as whatever you actually say. I've had the same experience on my iPhone 7 -- sharp graphics with little or no lag. There are a few hiccups here and there (especially when the game saves) but in general the game runs smoothly, especially compared to Batman (which, to be fair, improved significantly through updates). On the save issue, I'm usually with you, but here I can forgive it because 1) it's a multiplafform game that's releasing on iOS simultaneously and I wouldn't expect Telltale to develop a separate save system just for mobile, and 2) it's a short chapter and there are plenty of save points. Besides, having to repeat a section often let's you make a better choice the second time around . All in all, I really enjoyed the chapter. The characters are great, the voice acting is spot on, and the story jacks up the stakes from the get go, so every decision seems to really matter. Oh, and the music cues are awesome, especially the last one . Tychaeus Well-Known Member Sep 23, 2015 572 9 18 #12 Tychaeus, Apr 20, 2017 Totally agree, change the save system. Got REAL frustrating when I had...one and only prolly from phone heat playing too long...crash then had to run back through an entire explore/conversation area....RIdiculous. Also, that's hilarious....we are literally stuck at the exact same action sequence. Fail....fail...fail, and hadn't gone back to it yet, but that is really confusing...and this isn't an aspect that is something is fun and interesting to figure out etc...ie holding your hand etc....it's an action mechanic not a discovery of game content mechanic....there shoulda been a tutorial or guide in options or something...there is...just not specific enough. Oh and glad to see this patch addressing graphics issues, as even though I don't have iPhone 7, a 6s should look just as good. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #13 squarezero, Apr 20, 2017 The iPhone 7 is between 40% and 50% faster than an iPhone 6s, so it seems unrealistic to expect the game to perform "just as good."
