Your phone gets the ability to summon and trap yōkai - numerous spirits that have been living hidden among us (until now). Admire them and give them witty nicknames and then put them in the brutal ever-changing dungeon to try and summon even more yōkai! Spooky cute graphics and powders made from various body parts included. Features: - Traditional roguelike with touch controls in mind - Spooky cute pixel-art graphics - Huge variety of playable characters - Fancy "ō" letter that destroys our SEO (Yodanji and yokai, anyone?) * Comparing with other KEMCO RPGs, Yōdanji has a much steeper learning curve and is more difficult in general. Don't be deterred, though! "The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it", or so they say. And if you are unfamiliar with roguelikes, getting good in Yōdanji can open up a whole new world of games! Information Seller:Kotobuki Solution Co., Ltd. But it's a cross between, Pokemon and Roguelikes. It controls great, wish the abilities targeting was a little more fluid in the ui. While I am not a huge fan of it, I see how a lot of TA people would love this title. Hold the phone a Japanese roguelike (with the wherewithal to call itself a coffee break roguelike)? Count me in - I really love (really) the Shiren-likes Rogue Ninja and Alchemic Dungeons as well as the classic 100 Rogues. Really pumped to dig into this one. db2 Well-Known Member Oct 13, 2011 157 2 18 Michigan, USA #8 db2, Apr 7, 2017 This looks interesting, but is mostly making me realize how badly I want Yokai Watch Mystery Dungeon. BillyOceansBlues Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2013 188 7 18 #9 BillyOceansBlues, Apr 7, 2017 Super early impressions: Plays a lot like Rogue proper with a japanese twist. You have line of sight, hunger, the ability to skip turns. Damage is actually rolled which is a nice throwback. You have only five inventory slots, so you have to make tough calls every few minutes about what to use and what to keep. There are different modes: you can make a run for a high score, or go looking for scrolls that unlock more playable characters. This a ruthless roguelike in that you will probably just get unlucky a lot and die a lot and I love that. The only poké-like thing is the unlocking of new characters as far as I can tell. There is a lot of charm in this game! What a pleasant surprise. I played 100 Rogues and Rogue Ninja to death also. I was just hoping there was some other alternate control scheme (i.e. swipe anywhere to move) as tapping on huge directional arrows doesn't seem the most efficient method these days. Edit: Picked it up, couldn't resist. Loving it so far. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,489 177 63 #11 vectorarchitekt, Apr 7, 2017 Is there a portrait option or is this only landscape? Jaggus Member Sep 17, 2016 13 0 0 #12 Jaggus, Apr 7, 2017 Real roguelikes, difficult and fun, are such a rare thing on mobile platforms. Pixel dungeon is ok, and of course DCSS (Android only) but it's slim pickins for iOS... This game right here does a very good job of filling that niche. Don't let the poke/anime theme fool you, this is a real roguelike requiring careful inventory management and strategic positioning. The translation is pretty darn good, it's funny, the mood is serious pixels are awesome and game is challeging...great rogue.
