It's a Wario Games clone, done really well, with a RPG touch. I'm only at the museum but the little musical interludes and the random voiceovers for the minigames kill me everytime. This is one of the first games that has actually made me laugh on a regular basis. The games themselves are very fun too. Love love loved the 1 dollar song. edit: and the +1 dollar song! The idea of a musical is wonderfull, I am at the GameDevs and one stage put me the pressure (the tap one where you have to pass a fatty kid icarus between pipe). Reminds me the hillarious McPixel in some way. xBTAx Well-Known Member Jun 18, 2009 51 0 6 #19 xBTAx, Mar 6, 2016 Last edited: Mar 6, 2016 Having beaten Act 1 and then replayed some of the levels to unlock more dialogue, my feelings on the game are getting more mixed. It's super charming and I'd still recommend that based on that alone, but... I think a decent amount of the microgames are bad. I feel like each level has one or two microgames I dread getting because I feel like no matter what I'm going to mess them up without feeling like I'm actually learning how to handle them better. Sometimes it's because the microgame isn't intuitive enough by itself such that I have no idea what I'm really doing second-by-second, sometimes it's just unresponsive controls (particularly when tapping is involved), and sometimes it's just that the microgame itself isn't even fun. Beyond this, each microgame isn't, well, very micro- they often drag on a bit and feel repetitive as a result, which is especially bad when each level (reasonably) has less games than the average WarioWare level so they're already repeating a lot. But the worst part of them, to the point where I think this was a legitimately bad design decision and I question why it was made, is how the difficulty of each individual microgame is seemingly random. WarioWare steadily increases both the speed of the games and their difficulty (with 3 different versions of each game) for a reason. Here you can get blindsided with the hardest version of a game immediately and then have the easiest version a game or two later, and it just feels confusing at best. (EDIT: Dev was very nice and explained the difficulty to me on Twitter. Apparently on a replay of a level the game starts at difficulty 2 and cycles through that and difficulty 3 at set points. I'm a little annoyed there's no way to replay the same 1-15 progression as normal and then push yourself beyond it, but apparently this was playtested and felt too slow? I also still believe this might be broken on Neverland, but am not 100% certain, hmm.) That being said, I'm looking forward to Act 2, especially as Swery is one of my favorite game designers. And to be honest, I'll probably keep trying the Act 1 levels now and then still. I just hope the microgames are a little better next time, please. Oh, and I'm sad I learned about Spoiler Dave Lang's presence through the credits first. I heard Rami the one time I popped in and out of the VR level and thought he was it (even though I'd seen on Twitter that someone else was in it). If I got hit by one of his lines without expecting it, I legitimately don't know how I'd handle it. Probably by bursting out laughing on the train I was on, which would have been an uncomfortable time.
