But boy is it hard I've played seven games so far and lost each one and that's against the easy ai opponent I'll stick with it but I was expecting to win at least some of the time especially on easy. mrbradleypants Well-Known Member Jun 7, 2013 118 0 0 Artist New York http://www.nahmeenstudios.com/ #4 mrbradleypants, Apr 29, 2015 Hey Sexy Pirate- A few pointers to help you out! -You really want to make sure that you have all the systems equipped in some form on your ship. I would suggest staying in the Trainee until you have enough CC to buy AND equip a new ship. -Plasma (purple) will do the most damage to opponent shields, but they don't do much damage to the ship itself, so paying attention to which matches you make will help, even though you do have to be quick. -Making 4 in a row matches will give you a special block that when matched will wipe a row and column, these are a huge help. Godspeed, Commander! Sexy Pirate Well-Known Member Sep 29, 2014 889 0 0 Call centre / Parent Newcastle England #5 Sexy Pirate, Apr 29, 2015 Thanks for the tips but I think it's time for me to call it a day, 15 loses in a row and not a single win (all against so called easy enemy's) just isn't my idea of fun. It's a shame because I love the style of the game but it's just to hard for me. Is anyone else having this problem or do I just suck? If you ever lower the ai difficulty then I'll try again but that's me done. HippoHumper Well-Known Member Sep 25, 2013 122 0 16 #6 HippoHumper, Apr 29, 2015 This game looks really fun. A tried and true gameplay concept that I love in match three puzzles and an RPG ship customization concept that I love but don't get to play very much make this look like a must own. One question I have though is is there a campaign or story mode? No matter how much fun I have at some point I get a bit tired of just playing level after level and need some concept to put my hack and slashing, or in this case puzzling and stacking...blocks (just a little, I mean even the very basic level of story modes are enough to keep me happy if the gameplay is engaging) mrbradleypants Well-Known Member Jun 7, 2013 118 0 0 Artist New York http://www.nahmeenstudios.com/ #7 mrbradleypants, Apr 29, 2015 Hey HippoHumper- We have some ideas floating around on how we can expand the experience, but Godspeed is launching as a dueling game focusing on player progression and realtime multiplayer matches. Snotty128 Well-Known Member Jul 26, 2013 654 0 0 #11 Snotty128, Apr 30, 2015 Its taken me quite a few rounds, but im finally starting to understand whats going on, or at least i think i do. There are four colours of attack, doing different ratios of shield damage or damage to the ship. Each system has its own health bar and youve got to damage all of them to win. Im Assuming if a system is damaged it wont fire at all until green repairs it. The only one im not sure about is power. I expect its something to do with the crew abilities, which i dont have yet. Its a nicely made game. I hope to play some multiplayer at some point. In this day and age, i think you could have done with a more thorough tutorial. Players are used to being spoon fed system mechanics, and many will not have the patience to work it out themselves. HippoHumper Well-Known Member Sep 25, 2013 122 0 16 #12 HippoHumper, Apr 30, 2015 Thanks for the reply! As I mentioned I do prefer a campaign to keep me interested and add some goal(s) to work toward while playing. With that said from what I've seen the gameplay just looks so intriguing and flat out fun that you most likely will see HippoHumper in space...come pay day. mrbradleypants Well-Known Member Jun 7, 2013 118 0 0 Artist New York http://www.nahmeenstudios.com/ #13 mrbradleypants, Apr 30, 2015 Hey Snotty- Glad you're getting the hang of it. You've summed it up pretty well- and you are correct, the Power system is used with Crew. As far as the tutorial- you might be right. We'll have to see where players get stuck. I think we've boiled it down as much as we can in text, and I think a lot of people (myself included), figure things out just by doing them. Thanks for the feedback and hope to see you in space. Is there a single player option at all against AI? It channels some of that Puzzle Quest spirit, adds a little Super Glyph Quest flavour (and probably with some subtle 10000000 and Block Legends touches), but adds frantic realtime matching, modular ship design progression and most importantly head-to-head online multiplayer for an entirely unique match-3 experience. The game is limited in scope and probably in variety, with none of PQs expansive storytelling, different activities and freedom, but what it does, it does tons of well. It is the fifth match 3 puzzler to remain on my device for longer than a few test runs, an honour only previously bestowed upon PQ 1/2, SGQ, Gems of War and Scallywags (duh. Monkey Island in match format). (Ok, those, and, well, Kitten Sanctuary. For a time. Kittens, people. Obey their will or they'll match-3 puzzle yer face.) In response to the difficulty discussion, think the Easy difficulty is very well tuned. I win most fights, lose some rare few to bad luck or carelessness. Better than many Easy difficulties that offer no challenge at all. However, what Godspeed Commander truly needs is a (optional) minimized ship interface during battles, so that we can see both our own status, shields, module loading bars, etc, PLUS those of the opponent. Knowing whether to increase shields or repair instead of attacking is vital, but at the same time, knowing HOW to attack the opponent (to go for projectiles and missiles instead of plasma in order to damage hull once their shield is down, etc) is equally essential. So unless switching between the target and our own ship is a part of the challenge and the skill of the game (if so, it's not a bad idea), finding a way to squeeze all essential info into one HUD screen, or even only adding the absolutely most important target opponent info to the view of our own ship (their shields, primarily, and what modules they are chargin up secondarily) would go a long way towards improving our capacity to make tactical choices quickly during combat. Having a big picture of the ship in the middle is purdy, but serves very little purpose in a game where 95% of the time is spent looking at a board of blocks. A small compendium that explains all mechanics in detail would resolve this issue, without bogging players down with more tutorial text. Dema9o9ue Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Jan 16, 2015 104 1 18 #16 Dema9o9ue, Apr 30, 2015 I'm enjoying the game. However some kind of explanation of each system would be great. I also wish it was a little slower paced. Hard to enjoy the animations going on up top when fast paced matching is required to win. mrbradleypants Well-Known Member Jun 7, 2013 118 0 0 Artist New York http://www.nahmeenstudios.com/ #17 mrbradleypants, Apr 30, 2015 Hey Ayjona- I am happy you are enjoying the game. I'm glad you brought the HUD up. I just want to address the combat layout as there is some method to that madness- we couldn't find a layout that could include all of that info on the iphone4. We decided there were enough of those devices still in circulation and we needed them to be included for the sake of volume. So that was our starting point- everything had to fit and be easily visible on the iphone4. As the person designing the layouts, I cursed the iphone4 daily, but in the end we found something that we thought worked aesthetically and functionally. There was also a targeting mechanic on the opponent screen that demanded more realestate. That got tabled at some point and when it was removed, I honestly hadn't thought of trying to find a place for the core opponent info. The targeting might be revisited for an update in the future, so we kept the existing layout. In keeping the switch, we did find that did added to the time management aspect of combat which we wanted to maintain. Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. Godspeed. mrbradleypants Well-Known Member Jun 7, 2013 118 0 0 Artist New York http://www.nahmeenstudios.com/ #18 mrbradleypants, Apr 30, 2015 Hey vectorarchitekt- Yes, there is a Solo mode to play against AI. Its a great way to test out your ships before battling Online. There is also a way for you to play against your FB friends, so the more people you tell, the better that part of the game will be if that's your cup of tea. Well I just found out. OK, Im starting over. I like this but I think, like previous posters, Its going to be hard going for awhile! After playing a bit, here are my gripes. You don't really know what you are doing right away, but you need to be able to see the results of your match so you know what to do next. But the game goes so fast that you are frantically matching without really knowing what's going on. And the difficulty on class 3 is such that the only way to earn coins is to go back to trainee ship to grind a little. I think that the match speed could be slowed down a little to learn the game (at first) and earn a coin or two even in a defeat. I would buy some coins but I want to know if the ads will go away. Normally I don't complain about games, only the ones I like and want to play more. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
