Hope you all enjoy this as much as we've enjoyed putting it together. It's been a real labor of love. SaltyRyan Active Member Sep 14, 2014 40 0 0 Indie Game Dev Canada #6 SaltyRyan, Mar 30, 2015 Great question. Tried to keep it as minimal and non-invasive as possible. We viewed it more internally as a 'tip jar' than anything else. Two of the three IAPs are more or less cosmetic: a few extra toppings for your pizzas and a golden frame for your car. (I say more or less because most toppings offer small stat boosts, but they are all comparable to ones you can earn through normal gameplay. Frames are purely cosmetic.) The third is effectively a coin doubler; crucially, the game is balanced to have a smooth progression without this item, but we put this in there for the lucky few among us who have more money than time NOEN Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2012 3,245 0 0 U.S. #7 NOEN, Mar 30, 2015 Last edited: Mar 30, 2015 Wow! I am in love with the trailer! This looks so good! I can't wait to play it. So, for $2.99, I'm guessing this is a "premium" game with just cosmetic IAPs and a coin doubler? SaltyRyan Active Member Sep 14, 2014 40 0 0 Indie Game Dev Canada #8 SaltyRyan, Mar 30, 2015 That is literally exactly the case. The game is a designed and built as a 100% complete experience if you never even look sideways at the IAP. Can you confirm this, please? If yes, i definitely need a few impressions of how good, better yet, how perfect they are. I lost any little leftover love for tilt controls last year...couldn't even explain why. But i admit, Pete's mentioning Blade Runner-feeling and watching the video might be reason enough to gently strike the buy button. SaltyRyan Active Member Sep 14, 2014 40 0 0 Indie Game Dev Canada #10 SaltyRyan, Mar 30, 2015 Yes, control of the ship is done through tilt control. This was something that was incredibly important to us to get right as early as possible in development. We found that there was a 'right' way to do tilt controls (Ridiculous Fishing is kind of the gold standard for this, in my opinion) and a 'wrong' way (actually exemplified by that game's clone, now that I think about it.) I will leave it to someone else to endorse our implementation but I like to think we did right by it. NOEN Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2012 3,245 0 0 U.S. #11 NOEN, Mar 30, 2015 Nice! Thanks! I'll pick it up now. I've had a chance to spend about an hour playing so far. Guys, trust me and just buy this game! The upgrade system is really fun. You get pizza toppings that add little bonuses, as well as quite a few vehicle upgrades. The art and music are really cool and totally fitting to the 80's vibe. @Qwertz555 - I was a bit disappointed to learn this was tilt only, not being a huge fan myself. However, they are pretty exceptional, especially considering I'm playing on a iPad mini with retina rather than iPhone. Just a few questions @SaltyRyan: 1. Is there a place somewhere in the HUD that displays the amount of shields remaining? I can't seem to find it. 2. How do I activate the Barrel Roll Module? The directions are: "Quickly flicking left or right will momentarily prevent damage. Usable every 20 seconds". I've tried swiping like crazy and have only been able to activate it once. 3. During the delivery sections, can the obstacles harm you, or do they just block your pizza from hitting their target? SaltyRyan Active Member Sep 14, 2014 40 0 0 Indie Game Dev Canada #14 SaltyRyan, Mar 30, 2015 Glad you're liking it! I can answer those: 1. Each shield is represented by a thin blue line at the bottom of the screen. When the blue lines are gone, so are your shields. (See about 0:19 into the launch trailer to see this.) 2. Good feedback. I will make this more clear in a future update. You aren't actually swiping to perform it; it's just a quick 'flick' of your wrist/the screen that will activate it. 3. Because of your reduced speed, obstacles won't harm you during deliveries but they will cause you to lose money from the delivery, as well as preventing you from earning the "Perfect" delivery bonus. SaltyRyan Active Member Sep 14, 2014 40 0 0 Indie Game Dev Canada #19 SaltyRyan, Mar 30, 2015 I have been burned by tilt in the past, which is why we tried really hard to make it subtle and responsive. (Read: not make you look like an idiot in public and not make it feel floaty.) I know it's something that is all but impossible to get across without actually trying the game but hopefully others can attest to this point. If it helps to make a comparison, think Ridiculous Fishing, not Doodle Jump. ShinHadoukin Well-Known Member Feb 20, 2015 970 141 43 #20 ShinHadoukin, Mar 30, 2015 Does the IAP shows its head at all? No "pulsing" icon or number? No reminder that you can buy something? If it exists & can be found in a menu but I do not like always being reminded it's there, especially with an upfront cost (even when $3 is not a lot). (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
