Card Dungeon is a completely unique and handcrafted board / card /rogue-like game experience unlike anything you have played before. Easy to pick up and play for 10 minutes, but has enough depth and strategy that you will still be playing after multiple hours. You can only do 1 thing / turn. Choose wisely. When the game starts you are dealt three cards. The cards are used for attacks, defense, health, magic, summoning and much more. When the player defeats a monster or opens a chest, a new card may be revealed. The user then has to decide if they want to keep their current card or switch it to the new one. Progress through the levels as far as you can. When you die, you restart at the beginning. If you make it back to where you died, you get all your cards and money back. No IAP. No in game ads. No internet required. Buy it once and get the full game as it should be. Features: Full 3D. Rotate, zoom and pan across gorgeous board game tiles. Discover and equip over 1,000 cards. Each play through genuinely unique as you transition from playing a hard hitting warrior to a summoning wizard to a trap laying rogue, etc, etc, etc. Dozens of combinations await you! Randomly generated levels with hand placed creatures. No defined player classes. The cards define your class! Discover armor and weapon cards that help define who Your Crusader is this run. Unlock trait cards which modify how Crusader acts in game. Play a cowardly, but strong Crusader. Next time play a Crusader strong with magic, but one that keeps losing money. Record short video clips and upload your achievements and rare card finds for your friends to see. You can even record commentary directly from inside the game (requires use of camera and microphone). 21 levels packed with 40+ monsters, each with their own unique skills for Crusader to overcome. CardDungeon Member Aug 30, 2014 21 0 1 #6 CardDungeon, Aug 30, 2014 Whoops! Whoops! Yeaaah... Hrrm. Ok, that wasn't supposed to happen yet. Basically what happened was that we forgot to push the date up, on the App Store, to our expected release date on October 1st. If you did manage to get a copy, it's very much playable, but you might see a few bugs here and there. We are spending this month fixing said bugs so you can have a better experience. Sorry about this, but expect to see more of Card Dungeon in a few weeks! Thanks for your interest, everybody! Still, it looks fantastic and very promising if that's an early build. I can see a lot of people getting very excited for this! I have to be honest that I wasn't expecting it to be visually impressive, as a fan of both board games and roguelikes I'm used to gameplay pushing the focus on graphics out onto the periphery. Playing this even on my aging device it looks really great. You can slowly rotate the board so that you can see all the cardboard pieces in glorious 3D. It might sound like a small feature but it's makes me hugely nostalgic for HeroQuest sessions with my brother as a young 'un. Anyway, to the more important stuff. It plays largely as you would expect from the genre mash up, which is not something I mean as a negative. You alternate turns between your hero and the enemy, moving across tiles and interacting with the various board pieces. It feels remarkably roguelike until you enter combat. You have a set of three cards permanently on the bottom of the screen that represent the actions you can take. Each card has the expected stats like damage and range plus the occasional special effect. They're pretty varied, I was expecting to start with three similar melee moves but it's much more promising. Assuming it's not randomised; you begin with a quick sword swing for basic damage, an ally-conjuring zombie summon and a paralysing shock spell. You'll also find plenty more cards as you loot chests and other containers. It's nice that they have rarity/quality markers too, involving the the addictive nature of CCGs. Combat is really solid, intuitive but not too simple. You're constantly updating your strategy as you cards improve and you need to watch both your HP and MP. Furthermore, if you overuse certain cards, they'll break meaning you need to constantly rotate them, never over-relying on a powerful find. Enemies utilise cards that are unique to each type; poisoning, blinding, stunning and other annoying effects. There's also a perk system that forces you to pick both a positive and negative trait that makes things a lot more interesting. It's definitely a game I need to sink over a dozen hours into to give better impressions but it feels really rather epic with miniboss encounters and a campaign that suggests a good length. The only sign I can find that it's not a full release build are a few overlapping text boxes, the odd grammar mistake and slightly cumbersome camera controls. I can imagine this being incredibly popular when it releases and I'm certainly enjoying it more than Warhammer Quest so far. Basically, if it looks like something you'd enjoy then I'd say you need to start getting excited for the 1st of October! PeteOzzy Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2013 4,596 3 0 Norwich, England #19 PeteOzzy, Aug 30, 2014 There's certainly similarities visually and I keep stupidly getting the names mixed up which is rather embarrassing when talking to the dev lol. Gameplay-wise though they're very, very different. Card Hunter is party-based with cards drawn from a deck played out across single board screens. Card Dungeon focuses on one hero with three static cards whilst exploring a massive dungeon. I can totally understand the concerns though.
