Longtime Fighting fan but Franchise newcomer here. I just got Kof-i-2012 on the iPhone this month. What's the difference between that game and '98? So far it seems like '12 might have better graphics, but '98 offers a tag team element like MvC. Is that the only difference? Thanks so much. magicmikezero Well-Known Member Feb 21, 2014 62 0 0 #8 magicmikezero, Jul 25, 2014 Kof I 2012 is the newest as far as console releases go. It is pretty goo on xbox 360. 98 is a classic neo geo mvs/aes game. Both are great games but the classic is probably better. I don't like the recent ones like i and 2012 that much. There isn't big difference, but the classic style rocks. VaroFN Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2011 4,270 0 36 #14 VaroFN, Jul 25, 2014 -i is the port of KoF XIII for iOS and -i 2012 is its enhanced version with online multiplayer, more characters and some other stuff. GregB Well-Known Member Sep 4, 2009 2,346 3 38 #15 GregB, Jul 25, 2014 I don't play online multiplayer. I know that makes me a weenie on forums such as this, but I would pay for a better single player experience. Would 98 offer that over i or is it basically the same? SherlockEB Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Apr 22, 2013 459 0 0 #17 SherlockEB, Jul 26, 2014 It would give a better single player experience but I don't know how well it controls. I mean it's kinda impossible to do special moves on touch screen if they didn't optimize it somehow saucybag Active Member Sep 9, 2012 42 0 0 #18 saucybag, Jul 26, 2014 If like me you are a newcomer to the series and your only fighting game experience is Street Fighter ... Prepare to have your tits blown off! Everything about this game so far has been incredible! The characters are fantastic, the move sets are varied and look amazing! The 3v3 thing is actually way more interesting than the whole 1v1 best of 3 rounds way that I had grown used too and bored of. Little details like your other team mates in the background defeated of waiting their turn really impressed me. As far as the IOS port goes I can't compare to the original having never played it but the controls are responsive and highly customisable, you can have the screen in 4:3 or full screen which is great and it is genuinely the most rock solid fighting game I have experienced on touch. Don't hesitate VaroFN Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2011 4,270 0 36 #19 VaroFN, Jul 26, 2014 KoF-i 2012 offers lots of single player content. Arcade mode with 3vs3 or 1vs1 with endings for each team, challengues, time trial mode, collectibles and more things. I can't compare it to 98 because I didn't buy it yet, but for sure offers way more single player content than, say, Street Fighter IV Volt or Street Fighter X Tekken. The online community of the game died pretty soon due to the region block of the game, so it's pretty much a single player game now. SubZeroBR Member Feb 4, 2014 12 0 0 #20 SubZeroBR, Jul 26, 2014 KOF series are amazing, I grew up playing them, and certainly this version is one of the best. It's a dotemu port, so if the controls are a perfect port, It's very fluid and a great experience for both newcomers and pros. Also, as it's an arcade port, I don't know how well this will play on touchscreen, as some moves and combos have really fast input. I'd definitely recommend to use a gamepad, mfi or ps3 for jailbroken devices. I'm buying this for sure, along with some other games that came out this week, poor wallet.
