This is going to be a new favorite, for sure. PBSNellie Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2013 1,381 168 63 Southern CA #7 PBSNellie, Jul 24, 2014 I downloaded it to my Mac. I need a controller, come on MadCatz!!! But looks great, and will give it a go on my iPad. Really like the idea of using your iphone as a controller! Rusty Well-Known Member Aug 30, 2009 97 0 6 http://rustymoyher.com #9 Rusty, Jul 26, 2014 Anyone have ideas for more levels? I'm playing with adding a couple more. @Glorkbot Awesome!! <3 @ScotDamn Oh thanks! The controller idea was there from the very beginning. I originally planned it as a month long iPhone controller tech demo, but I had so much fun playing it with my brothers that I turned it into a full game. @Crichton333 Oh yes! The Mac version right now is just on the Mac App Store. Here's the link: http://itunes.apple.com/app/id891055437?mt=8 mattreeder Member Jun 17, 2013 24 0 0 #10 mattreeder, Jul 27, 2014 How about a mode where you have to avoid being killed by box cat, or one where the first person to kill box cat wins. I think your game needs box cat lol. Love the game by the way. Rusty Well-Known Member Aug 30, 2009 97 0 6 http://rustymoyher.com #11 Rusty, Jul 27, 2014 Me too! That's why I added Box Cat as a hidden playable character. Box Cat Cheat Code On the player select screen, set your player to OFF. Then hold down the player toggle button for three seconds. mattreeder Member Jun 17, 2013 24 0 0 #12 mattreeder, Jul 27, 2014 Just tried it lol and I love it. It would be soooo cool if you had permission to use characters from other ios games as well ie. mikey shorts and the space surfer from time surfer. I can definitely picture myself killing mikey shorts again and again and again haha. Anyway, thanks for the boxcat cheat, friend! ScotDamn Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Jul 8, 2013 1,990 0 36 Wireless Sales Happy Daddy https://twitter.com/ScotDamn #13 ScotDamn, Aug 5, 2014 This is an excellent game. Astro Duel deserves much more attention, not only because it's good, but it offers unique features that seem to be obvious yet are lacking on the store. Just bought it and had a ton of fun with a couple family members. It's pretty fun against the AI as well. Using the iPhone as a controller was a tad tricky, but it worked well enough in the 3 player MP matches. Way worth it! Neddy F Well-Known Member Dec 7, 2009 158 0 16 #14 Neddy F, Aug 7, 2014 Awesome awesome game! Great review on the front page too - congrats! Found the SHAARK! hidden character too! I think you just repeat the process above which nets you box cat? Or hold it down for longer? I've only done it once! Played with four players on phones today and it was a right laugh! As for levels how about one with teleports (like portal) ships and bullets could pass through. Also one with moving parts that could be operated by a button? (a bit like the one where you can shoot out the blocks but more elaborate) Rusty Well-Known Member Aug 30, 2009 97 0 6 http://rustymoyher.com #15 Rusty, Aug 7, 2014 Oh man! Thats so good to hear. Thanks Neddy F and ScotDamn! Woah!! The review TA just posted is totally awesome: http://toucharcade.com/2014/08/07/astro-duel-review/ Nice find! (I think you're the first to find it.) Yes, hold down the button for over five seconds. The secret characters are selectable with the other controller methods too. On iPhone, hold down the "Circle" button for x seconds. I love both these ideas! Teleport/portal shouldn't be too hard to do. Could make for some rad battles too. Thinking about this for a button level: It has one of the beams from the BEAMS level, but it's not on a timer. When a player pushes/shoots the button, the beam turns on and crosses a portion of the level. Probably would put powerups in the "danger zone". Den Den Well-Known Member Jun 11, 2014 206 0 0 #16 Den Den, Aug 7, 2014 Does this support online multiplayer via internet? I'd play the hell out of it and buy it instantly if it did. mattreeder Member Jun 17, 2013 24 0 0 #17 mattreeder, Aug 7, 2014 Congrats on getting that five star review, Rusty. It's well deserved. If you make more levels that are of the same quality of the current ones, there would be zero chance of Astro Duel ever leaving my ipad. Still having a ton of fun with this game; thanks for making quality games! Neddy F Well-Known Member Dec 7, 2009 158 0 16 #18 Neddy F, Aug 7, 2014 No worries Rusty! I knew from the description it would be right up my street! Don't think I've every been first to uncover a game secret before so that's a first too! Love the laser button idea - got me thinking about more dangerous levels too (especially as it's great to see your nearest competitor go backwards on the scoreboard from killing themselves!) there could be a whole section of uber dangerous levels like a mine field, shrinking area, maybe one where certain parts of the screen become deadly for a while? Like a meteor shower across one quadrant forcing the players to battle in a smaller area? They may run the risk of being annoying I guess - maybe make them optional? Another idea - one where the power ups are protected by a sentry - a bit like the turret level but perhaps proximity activated. If you want the power ups you have to risk running the gauntlet so to speak. Great work on the game again! HerbertKornfeld Well-Known Member Oct 13, 2008 141 1 18 #19 HerbertKornfeld, Aug 8, 2014 Last edited: Aug 8, 2014 Here are some ideas for new game modes: No border mode. Since Asteroids is pretty obviously an influence, as you've said, why not go all the way and give us a borderless stage where if you go off the screen on one side, you'll appear on the opposite side of the screen. Weapons should travel like this, too. It'll be wacky and fun. (A Slight downside will be that, with a border like this, you won't be able to use your zoom feature when players move in close.) Broken ship mode. Maybe you'll only be able to spin in one direction, or maybe the thruster will make you go backwards, or something. This could be a power down, too, instead of a whole new mode. Reversed controls mode. Left is right and right is left. Dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria! Again, this could also be a power down. Maybe you could also have achievements. Here are a few that I can think of: - Long distance sniper (for long shots) - Hook shot (for landing a gravity bent shot) - Triple Kill (for killing all three opponents) - Spin Spin Sugar (for killing someone while sitting still and only spinning, without activating your thruster) Random notes: - In the Mac version, the game should pause if the game is no longer the active application. - If you’re playing a single-player game, it would be nice if your ship was somehow called out before the start. That way, your eyes will be quickly drawn to your starting corner. - For a little Retro Game Crunch synergy, how about adding Flip from The Last Rocket into the game? submariner Member May 7, 2014 6 0 0 #20 submariner, Aug 8, 2014 This is a really fun game.
