I'm so getting this Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #9 Gabrien, Feb 23, 2012 Game Impressions Hmm. Looks like a fairly standard adventure game to me. I think maybe people confuse interesting artistic concepts with gameplay? It does look...interesting. But gameplay-wise I see nothing new here nor in any way remarkable. Not bad by the same token, engaging enough, just...nothing I haven't played before, and nothing that's done markedly better here than in any number of other games. It's an adventure/puzzle game. It's decent enough and if you like the genre you should enjoy it. I just don't know why these hype bandwagons must be created for everything. Darth Ronfar Well-Known Member Nov 20, 2011 1,061 0 0 Animal related LA #10 Darth Ronfar, Feb 23, 2012 So, is this worth getting? Was it translated well? I don't really have any other point and click games and was thinking about getting this... Doesn't seem to be getting any hype, or praise. Is that because it's just a port or is the game not good? Need some feedback I guess.. TheFrost Well-Known Member Nov 18, 2010 5,772 0 0 #11 TheFrost, Feb 23, 2012 Same here.... metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #12 metalcasket, Feb 23, 2012 I think the main problem was that it just seemingly popped up later in the day and didn't get the same amount of attention it would have otherwise gotten if a "NZ thread" had come out with all the others yesterday. I had to bump the thread earlier on and it still seems to need bumping every now and then. Seeing as both you guys have retina devices, it's safe to say this is the definitive version of Lume right now. It looks absolutely phenomenal, was translated perfectly and is just a perfect fit for iOS and touch screen devices... it's extremely responsive. The game really isn't that long (my girlfriend and I finished it last year on PC), but I was honestly expecting it to be $4.99 or something. Considering it's only $1.99 (for iPhone and iPod touch), it's very much a no-brainer. I don't like the more serious real life type point and click games so this one seems like a good fit for me... I really like how the puzzles and stuff look and the art style etc... I'll give feedback later, of course I've never played the PC version so I can't compare them but never the less.... The story isn't too strong or engaging like in the Puzzle Agent/Hector games. There are so many freaking puzzles everywhere, lol. They're literally popping up more often than in Puzzle Agent, not that it's a bad thing I guess. The art direction is really nice. Feels like a pretty standard puzzle adventure (P&C) game. Darth Ronfar Well-Known Member Nov 20, 2011 1,061 0 0 Animal related LA #16 Darth Ronfar, Feb 23, 2012 So far it seems like a fun little puzzle adventure game. Well I wouldNt call it an adventure I guess because ur only roaming around one house. The art style is really good and the puzzles are tricky... The best advice I could give is just to try to touch everything(I missed alot) I don't think I'm that far in, but I like how there's sort of little mini-games in the puzzles. I'm guessing u have to eventually connect all the power by completing all the puzzles etc... So it was definetly worth the 2 $ I'm hoping it lasts longer and not end too quickly... I would like to know how far I am % wise from some who's played it. Spoiler I got the keys, used one to open a puzzle that I completed, I I solved another puzzle with the broken roof, and I guess I'm stuck on the lock with entering the numbers, and the chart thing I keep messing up also the piano thing....I know the notes just can't get it to work. So am I at 5% or 25% GoofyJmaster. Well-Known Member Oct 11, 2011 2,869 0 0 College Student Ohio, USA #17 GoofyJmaster., Feb 23, 2012 Last edited: Feb 23, 2012 Damn!!! I'm loving this game so far. I'm glad someone mentioned P&C games like Hector (etc.). This game was not meant to be anything like those at all and I absolutely love it for that. I've played quite a few P&C games and they usually turn out to be too easy or it's like you're just watching everything happen. Don't get me wrong, Hector is one of my favorite adventure games, but I never truly felt immersed like I did with something like Myst or now Lume. I got into it and it had a nice story and was engaing but it just vever fully pushed the visceral experience. That's where Lume shines. It entraps you into the world with its gorgeous art style and absolutely wonderful music (using headphones). Even the sound effects are amazing. I feel like I'm in the game helping Lumi fix up the house and exploring every nook and cranny. I actually care and I'm not just playing! The whole thing just meshes so well together. All of the little notes and figuring out what to do. Something just feels right about the game. It's the soul that's missing from 'oh so many' a game. There's even something overwhelmingly inviting about the puzzles that are in the game. That's another thin, like I said earlier, the puzzles are actually hard. You'll definitely have to dig around and use some thought. Heck, the puzzles ate probably worth two dollars alone, considering I think most P&Cs are either uninspiring or easier than expected--maybe I've just been bitten by the artsy bug. I highly, highly recommend this. As a lovely, visceral experience, I rank it so high. It's another one of those you become a part of art games with a nice challenge. There's is a story and, yes, it's minimal. But it's beautiful. It's like any other game like this where more words and "stuff" would be too much. IDK... It just feels right.
