Greatly improved player controls, much better UI, enhanced gameplay puts more control of your items and survival party in your hands! This version is compatible with all iPad versions, and iPhone 3GS and later, and iPod touch 3G and 4G "For those of a certain age who loved adventure game books, it’s the perfect app to play and one that players will find themselves returning to. Not least because they’ll have to be pretty skilled to ‘win’!" 4 out of 5 stars - Jennifer Allen, 148 Apps.com "I've been having a blast with this since it's essentially gameifies what runs through my head whenever I read or watch a piece of zombie content, but it's also solid production-wise. I heartily recommend this to anyone that still has an itch for zombies, or even an appreciation of primarily text-based titles." ~ 4/5 stars - Brad Nicholson, Toucharcade "ZDAY is a 21st century text-based Simulator game that puts you the player in tough, real-world situations. The game play is easy and you can soon control it well." ~ 4/5 stars - Top10app.com "4/5 Stars" - Dan Zuccarelli, Gamezebo.com What better way to survive a full blown apocalypse than to PRACTICE? This is not a traditional shooter or an arcade style game where you poke buttons to shoot digital bullets at virtual zombies. ZDAY is a 21st century text-based Simulator that puts you the player in tough, real-world situations and says "what would YOU do?". Created and Designed by Animator and Director Ed Anderson, and beautifully illustrated by renowned DC comics artist Matt Haley, ZDAY is an intelligent adventure game that starts you in a crowded suburb at ground zero of a full blown infection, and says "what would you do?". Faced with one scenario after another, the player has to make choices that will either lead him to escape the zombie-filled suburbs or perish like so many others. The sophisticated game engine keeps track of every decision that you make, and keeps a running tab on your survival probability based on the choices you make. So keep your wits about you, and choose carefully, because one wrong move could have you facing a zombie horde or roving bands of trigger-happy looters. The detailed results given after the player has completed the challenge provides very useful insight to what he may have done right and wrong. If the player wants to try again he can, and since the game engine reshuffles many of the exact events, ZDAY Survival Simulator is never exactly the same twice. Interested in seeing what impressions are. Foamy Member Nov 22, 2010 15 0 0 #5 Foamy, Jan 11, 2012 Is this game "almost" endless ? where only death ends the game. otherwise, it's day and night cycles and new circumstances (added regularly via app update). that would be cool. If not, does anyone know how long it takes to play through? I understand the replay value to a point. $1.99 seems a little steep if the game is completely predictable after 15-20 minutes of game play. Erm... What? 10 mins? Mongadillo Member Jan 11, 2012 9 0 0 #8 Mongadillo, Jan 11, 2012 ZDAY is just beginning Hey everyone, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for giving ZDAy a try, and that we are working very hard over here developing more content and more interactivity for ZDAY. I realize that right now it might seem like it's a bit sort, but we are adding a lot of new content, art, and functionality. The reason I decided to push the release of version 1 with some of the core features stripped away was to prove the basic concept of a graphically enhanced text based adventure game works on a touch platform, let's face it, it's not like there are a lot of games out there like ZDAY. Our goal is have ZDAY fully complimented with all the features and encounter data by end of Spring, so jump in early and give me your feedback if you want to help shape the way we develop the game. As for the $2 price tag, I know 99¢ is more appealing, and we struggled with that decision, but at the end of the day we felt that we had to price it at what it's worth, rather than what we thought would mean the most sales, and we like to think the game is worth more than the asking price. Thanks again to the Touch Arcade Community. You say you have priced at what it is worth but surely the higher price would reflect a more complete game? Wouldn't it be better to release at a trial price in the early stages and then increase the price as the game becomes more complete? Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it is not worth $2. I have not yet played so I cannot judge it's value. It does look like my sort of game. Has anyone here played yet? EDIT: Just spotted the TA review. Sounds pretty cool so will give is a go. Amenbrother Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2011 6,659 7 38 #10 Amenbrother, Jan 11, 2012 I would of much rathered this came out at 99c as an intro sale then pump it up to $2.99 after a little while. Instead you will get people to buy it now then there will be a sale and leave a bad taste in peoples mouths. Or most of the cheapies will wait and make you put it on sale at 99c before they even think about buying it. Especially with a fresh concept like this, I really hope people give them a chance so we can get more variety in the App Store and support devs who try new things. oooooomonkey Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2011 6,307 0 0 Forge World #13 oooooomonkey, Jan 11, 2012 Right well I'm going to jump in and pick this up now as I love the gamebook apps and things like it. Post back my impressions later on after having played it. oooooomonkey Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2011 6,307 0 0 Forge World #14 oooooomonkey, Jan 11, 2012 Right well first impressions. I've only played one play through (well not a complete one as I died) but it lasted about half an hour. Impressions are good, the art is very nice and the sound suitably zombie'ish, the choices you get all seem to be pretty real types of choices that you'd make should a zombie outbreak happen. You get to choose where to go and if you want to look for supplies etc. you even get to pick and choose weapons and if you should fight or not. Overall I'm impressed with the quality and content. A bargain for £1.49 when a comic or book with a similar story would cost you much more and not have the same replay factor. Can't wait to see how this is expanded upon with future updates. My only one slight issuse is the actual fighting of zombies is just a case of "you killed x number of zombies" I would have liked to see something like the dice battles in the gamebook series for example. oooooomonkey Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2011 6,307 0 0 Forge World #15 oooooomonkey, Jan 11, 2012 Oh and here's my end game stats, (I thought I was doing good but obviously not lol) Saucepolicy Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Feb 18, 2009 501 4 18 Crispy ex-game developer #16 Saucepolicy, Jan 12, 2012 I'll preface this by saying I like the game and it's a fun little diversion. It certainly has a slick presentation and a solid framework to build upon. I've gotten my two bucks worth of entertainment out of it, no question. In the current scenario, it's fairly easy to discern at least one safe path, though it may not be the ideal one. Risk almost always brings punishment and there's even a stat on the results screen that admonishes you for taking too many risks. Much like a Choose Your Own Adventure book, if you find your way successfully to a safe destination in your first or second playthough as I did, you may find that there's not a lot of incentive to keep replaying just to see the creative ways that the authors kill you. Loot, zombie encounters and even injuries are somewhat randomized. It feels like there are even some slight random detours, but I can't yet say for certain. Emphasizing those aspects in updates a la Oregon Trail would exponentially increase replay potential. I know that Organ Trail may be coming to iOS eventually but there's still plenty of opportunity for a unique spin on the mechanic. I'd say it costs lest than a pint of lager which would last all of five minutes and then be gone for good where as here you have a very polished looking adventure to keep and replay and theres even talk of more content coming. IMO its a great deal but that depends on what type of game your looking for. Riggy Well-Known Member Feb 26, 2010 145 0 0 #19 Riggy, Jan 12, 2012 Does the game mix up the event at all? VERY little content. I've played through in less than 30 min. Upon replay, your presented with the same situations with the same outcomes. Repetitive. This game feels incomplete at best. $1.99 is definitely too high a price point.
