There is some humor, but it's fairly black, and there are no gags like you get in the Monkey Island games. All of the puzzles are visual, as is the entire game UI. The Samarost games by the same developer are the best comparisons, and they're free to play online. Try them out. The iPad 2 also has a much better CPU (twice as fast as iPad 1), a better GPU (9x as fast as iPad 1) and twice the RAM (512MB vs. 256MB). And oh yeah, it has 2 cameras, and iPad 1 has zero. But you already know about that.
